The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
First, this guide is designed to help new players and to give suggestions to himwith no intention of would decrease and foul language.
The guide is purpose to show that Garen is not merely a mighty caster, but a beautiful tank that can push lane ganking with extraordinary and extremely powerful for 1x1.

Well, these runes for me (and many) is simply the most epic and basic Garen, armor penetration, armor and magic resist are almost Garen himself in the form of runes, free runes comments on issues, just that.
The masteries, in itself, is very difficult to master the sage able to mount them, and how I play for a while (1-2 years), I realized that these masteries are the best for him.
Lethality is very helpful in Judgement, Brute Force is great for early game, Weapon Expertise is basic to their Decisive Strike, Sunder and Executioner are basic to any champion AD, Havoc helps a little in your ult, and obvious as this is a guide for off-tank, the nine points in Defense must be used wisely, armor and magic resist for early game, and a little hp in early and late game.
Items are fundamental to any champion (obvious), as Garen is a char type critical while tank is basic to Watmas for him, but if you want you can make some alternative items:
Sunfire Cape: It is a good choice to stack with Judgement and gives some armor and HP, nice item
Randuin's Omem: Good defense, great passive, but low HP, I recommend exchange for Frozen Mallet in situations where there is much CC and that the enemy team has to carry much feed AD.
Banshee's Veil: HP median, good magic resist and optimum passive and do not recommend it much because it gives Mana thing Garen not use, and also because their items that are made are not very useful to Garen, do so only if the champ AP enemy is too feed.
Aegis of the Legion: Good passive, HP, AD, armor and magic resist, nice item, but fell among us, Garen is not the kind suport, good choice, buy only if your team need some suport.
Youmuu's Ghostblade: critical, AD, armor penetration, and a passive cooldown Reduction fabulous. I highly recommend this item in place of the Phantom Dancer.
Last Whisper: 40 AD and 40% armor penetration, WHOOOOOOOOOA, so nice, is not it? I highly recommend doing this item also stacks well with Youmuu's Ghostblade also recommend changing the Frozen Mallet.
Ionian Boots of Lucidity: Nice boots, cooldown Reduction is a great choice for Garen, highly recommended
Perseverance: To me, Garen Garen is this only for its magnificent passive, 0.5% HP regen per 5/sec? Best sustain the game (in my opinion), but watch, learn to use it, remember to turn this passive you need is 5 seconds without taking damage, so remember.
Decisive Strike: Silence 2.5 fixed, hit counts as a basic attack, and thus gives an insane damage at level 1? OP to ****! Great champions against casters or AP, but learn to use it, this skill is not just offensive, can be used to run away or hit-and-run old-fashioned, very nice.
Courage: 25 armor and magic resist and 36% damage reduced? Lol, this is not too much for a champion op AD tank? I also think, but have to learn to use it too, so remember to farm well in the early game and activate it whenever you get in a team fight.
Judgment: Probably the most OP And among all AD champions of the game and can make an insane damage to +1000 and also removes any slow when activated, and any other slow is reduced by 50% when you have spinning niceeeeeee, remember to buy logo items critical to increasing their power.
Demacian Justice: Weak early game, but extramente powerful late game, remember to always use it when your opponent is under 40% HP, the more you have, the greater the fall.
