Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
-Garen's passive is Perseverance and it allows to Garen to regen 0.5% of his health per second after not receiving damage for 7 seconds. This Passive is really good for more durability in line.
-The Q Skill is Decisive Strike.
On activation will allow Garen to gain Movement Speed during 4 seconds after activating.
His next attack will deal more physical damage and will silence his target for 2.5 seconds. (This skill also work on turrets).
-The W Skill (Passive) is Courage.
His passive will increase Garen's Magic Resist and Armor permanently by 0.5 each time he kills an enemy unit for a Maximum of 25.
-On activation , Garen will activate a shield on himself , decreasing all damage taken on him for 3 seconds.
(Perfect when entering in team fights)
-The E is Garen's main Skill called Judgment.
On activation , Garen will rapidly spin with his sword around his body for 3 seconds, dealing damage each 0.5 seconds.
This skill also remove all slows on him and reduce the duration of new ones by 50%.(This skill can do Critical Hits Yes!).
-The R Skill , or Garen's Ultimate is Demacian Justice.
On activation, Garen brings down Demacian Justice, dealing magic damage and 1 additional damage each 3.5/3/2.5 health his opponent is missing.
This skill is not a good idea too engage a battle.
Keep it when your opponent have low health to finish the job because the less the enemy have health points, the more your skill will be deadly.
Pros / Cons
x3 for 2% more Critical Chance.
x1 To reduce target's Armor and Magic Armor when using it and increase the duration of 0.5 seconds.
x4 To reduce Garen's spells cooldown by 3%.
x2 To increase Garen's attack speed by 2%
x1 Why? For a 15% Magic Penetration for your Ultimate.
x3 To ignore 6% of the target's armor.
x3 For a boost of 3 Attack Damage at start.
x3 To increase Garen's Critical Damage by 10%
x1 To increase Physical and Magical Damage by 4%.
Greater Mark of Lethality
Greater Seal of Armor
Greater Glyph of Magic Resist
Greater Quintessence of Health Regeneration
- I pick Seal of Resilience for Flat Armor at start to have more durability in my line.
-Glyph of Warding is also a great choice for Flat Magic Resistance at start for more durability in your line.
Greater Quintessence of Vigor- I usually take Quintessence of Vigor to get more health regen once again for more duratiliby and it allows you to stay longer in your line and regen health really fast combined with your passive.
-Another good choice of Quintessence would be Greater Quintessence of DesolationGreater Quintessence of Desolation to get an higher boost of Armor Penetration.
I normally pick Doran's blade at start because it gives all you need to be good in your line.
Also another great item if you wanna have a great start is to pick a Doran's Shield. In increase Armor, Health points and Health regen per 5 seconds.
Health Regen=8 Health per 5 seconds
Don't forget to buy potions and wards each time you back to base.
For boots, Theres only a single choice.
Garen NEED the more Movement Speed as possible and Boots of Swiftness are the only one that are really usefull for him.
Also, everyone is affraid of Garen when you play him so thats why you need a high Movement Speed to catch your ennemies when they are running away.
When you have your boots , watch on the map if a line is in difficulty.
If yes, you should go try to gank them because with his high speed, Garen is a very good ganker.
Infinity Edge Should be on ALL melee DPS of the game.
It gives a great Attack Damage and Critical Chance.
His Passive Increase your Critical Hits and deal 250% damage instead of 200%.
Frozen Mallet is a perfect item for Garen.
It gives Attack Damage, a lot of Health Points and each time you will deal damage, your ennemies will be slowed by 40% for 2.5 seconds.
Sunfire Cape is a good choice for Garen because it deals Damage per second and combined with his skill your Damage will be Deadly.
Atma's Impaler is really great for Offtanks like Garen because it takes 2% of his health and switch it in Attack Damage.
Warmog's Armor would be really good for a Huge Health Point boost and is unbeatable with Atma's Impaler.
With all Those items, your Attack Damage will be around 350 AD and your Health Points around 5000HP so it's really tanky with a good DPS.
-For Summoner Spells, I Pick Because Garen is a Ganker and he needs Movement Speed .
-My second Summoner Spell is To slow by 40% the ennemy and reduce his damage by 70% for 3 seconds.
