In my honest opinion, I think that the combo should be R>W instead of W>R because Shatter also scales off ability power, which Hammer of Justice (I forgot Taric's ult name) gives, meaning Shatter will do more damage.

How would you be able to get in a normal game with normal farm past Manamune?

Alrighty, I'm gonna go ahead and turn off Comment+Vote to allow just votes. I'd still love to hear from people who have played this and tried it out, but comments are no longer required. Hopefully it works out well!

It's certainly got the surprise factor to it :) Taric has a solid targeted stun and a fair amount of burst if you build into it.

The build order itself could definitely use some more work on my part now. I've neglected to play this role recently, but thank you very much for the vote!

Your guide doesnt really teach anything particular about taric or the jungle and I don't like your rune and item choice.

So what can I do to improve? All you need to know about Taric jungle is explained in the guide - use your W to clear camps, use your Q to sustain, and use your E>W>R combo to gank. Not much more to it.

However, I rank this last, as the damage is most variable, and feels less useful, as the stun duration doesn't change based on rank.

It is a 0.1 second increase per rank.
Also you have Gemcraft where it should say Imbue in the Abilities section.

Again just small things, but I'm going to try out this build.

That changed with the most recent patch, so I had totally forgotten to change that - thank you very much. I'll fix both of those little slip-ups!

NicknameMy wrote:

Bad build. This is completly against the nature of Taric. As a jungler, you are still a support and build supportive items. This gives you high build efficiency. You are not a damage dealer at all because you are a pure meele. You are here to protect your carry.

So, you should get Frozen Heart first as it is absolutely broken on him. Don't get Tear of the Goddess as the damage is nice, yes, but you really don't need it. Get philosopher's stone instead and build it into shurelya's reverie later. You have no magic resist, get Runic Bulwark(dat double aura). You should also consider Randuin's Omen to increase your armor. Instead of Spirit of the Ancient Golem, get Locket of the Iron Solari, as is stacks with you really well.

So I build Taric differently than you do, so you'll downvote me? That doesn't make much sense. Your jungle Taric focus is clearly on utility rather than damage, while this guide is built around bullying and general damage. Since you are NOT the support as a Jungler, your role is not to protect your carry, but to get in, soak up damage, and deal lots in return to the dangerous people. The protection of the Carry is left to the support here, in essence, as you're not the support.

Again, your build you just described there is a utility build, and something I'd be more willing to build on support Taric. His jungling is very weak when he doesn't have basic damage, and stacking hard armor, AD, and Mana on him means his autoattacks will wreck anyone he comes in contact with. Furthermore, purchasing Spirit of the Ancient Golem grants him both Armor and Tenacity, which you discard normally hen purchasing Ninja Tabi. It also grants further damage against minions which is nearly required in the jungle, especially early.

If you're going to downvote because my build is different than yours, I personally feel like you're doing it quite wrong. It's your opinion, but I suggest giving this a go, before claiming one way is always the right way of doing things.

I dont use warmog's i just think its awesome for a taric to get tankier.

Fair enough :) He is pretty tanky just from assorted items anyway, and the sustain from his Q seems good enough. I may give it a shot sometime though.

Quoted:

hextech gunblade is not a good choice neither is the jungle items built from the spirit stone...and zhonyas? are you playing ap burster ?

So an AP/AD item with extra raw power, an item with Tenacity, Health, and Armor is bad, and an Armor and AP item, which is exactly what Taric needs is bad?

Explain?

The only think left for me is vote

I will check for changes :)

Tips:
- For more damage use "r" -> "w"
- Sometimes it's better to stay and auto attack for cd on heal, then running and w8ing for it
- While ganking consider using stun. Sometimes it's better to w8 for flash or any other escape.
- Your ultimate also improves your heals.

Thank you very much! I'll definitely add those tips about the guide when I next get the chance!

Overall, I like the format of the guide and I will try it out later. Just to let you know, in the rune section, you have Attack Damage marks shown, but you mention you take Armor marks.

Ooh, crud, I'll go fix that - thank you!

Well I did my first jungle Taric a few days ago. Attack speed reds and move speed quints, don't remember my masteries but I think they were 9/21/0. Got jumped by the enemy jungler at my red and nearly died, because bot lane (I was blue side) went straight to lane and didn't watch red so I didn't know if they warded my red side. I then proceeded to lose the game because all lanes lost.

Sounds like bad teammates and some unlucky timing :'(

(In respond to Fangride)

I'm sure you are right about Ninja Tabi and Ancient Golem. Right now i'm logging in and i will try to check this asap. But i'm thinking you may be wrong about early game. In my oppinon the most important role of the jungler is to prepare his team mates for later game.

As a jungler i'm leaving everykill for top/mid/bot players and i'm trying to help them dominate the lane as soon as possible. Taric abilitys has short enough cds to gank in very short periods of time (Philosopher+tear makes me able to give 2nd blue to mid player, when i'm still able to spam skills at ganks).

About Shurelya:
In my opinion season 3 is dominated by active items, which can be use to slow enemy team (maybe 3 items like this). Every item which can help your team with mobility is priceless. Remember about armor it gives and cds.

Anyway i think we are both right. If there is a possibility to carrie game with early ganks you must try to do this, and if enemy team is playing safe, had good map vision your way of jungling with preparing for mid game is better.

I agree with that too, actually, haha. I just feel like at the very start, i.e. first clear, it's more important to worry about in-jungle damage than your gank strength. By starting out with a faster clear speed, it means you can begin to help your team and prepare them ever faster. By picking up the extra damage option, you'll zoom through the jungle, and then be able to go back and prep for ganks in the process.

Good point about armor/CD, didn't even consider it. I'll definitely have to try it out!

I also agree, we seem to be both right :P I might add a second more 'mobile' build on here for that :)

I'm rly not sure about Ancient Golem item, but i will try it. Cloth armor gives you more damage from your "w" and it's helpfull while ganking lanes (specially while mid ad is so popular now), while matchete is just jungle item and gives you nothing for ganks. So after 1st back i'm trying to get:

Philosopher Stone (for Shurelya), and Tear of the goddess(sometimes even boots).

These items helps me with mana while Taric is mana hungry with out blue in early game. If i'm not able to get these items i'm buying Philosopher + Boots.

Core build for me -> Shurelya(double/triple ghost at ganks) + Manamune + Sunfire cape.

Well, as the Jungler, your role is to clear the jungle and then gank lanes second. You don't need to be ganking during the early rounds, which means the Machete is more helpful and efficient for your team. It means you can complete your rounds and get your gold at a faster pace, regardless of overall health anyway, which means you can go back and prepare yourself for the ganks next. I don't take a gank tool, i.e. my stun until level 4 anyway, as the goal early is to focus on preparation.

I feel Shurelya is something the support should be buying. The stats it offers are NOT good enough for the things Taric needs to be a strong jungler. Cooldown Reduction can be handy, but his Damage on his W mid-game and damage on passive mid-game are most important. Getting Ancient Golem item also means you can freely buy Ninja Tabi for more tankiness and Armor and not have to worry about your Tenacity suffering. It also offers stats you want.

I totally agree with Tear, though I feel building up your Boots and Ancient Golem is best early, as it gives you far more tankiness, and you should be able to retain your blue. Taric's Mana-Hungry, but it's very easy to conserve mana on him, by limiting ability spam. His W, the main clear tool, is very cheap.

Just my thoughts on how that works though.

Yes the team battle Taric is in the jungle this time round. I think the problem with Taric is both with his W and passive. He hits way too hard for someone who doesn't need to build an ounce of offense, especially late game, because they did not lower his base AD to begin with. And needless to say, mana/armor items, i.e. the Glacial Shroud tree, are essential (and overpowered) on him.

I don't think he'll be nerfed. They nerfed the thing that made him OP; his arua, they could buff everything else about him and he'd still be a slow character dependant on his abilities to get anything done, with horrible early game mana issues that gets kited like a boss. :p

As a support, yeah, he got a bit nerfed, but Jungle Taric is just absurdly strong. He lost some overall armor, but gained it back by increasing his damage capabilities massively by building AP, Armor, and Mana. So Support/AD Taric is insane, but support is lowered. How I feel it's doing is Mana ratio on passive nerf, armor aura buffed, armor scaling on W nerfed.

Rapidly becoming meta. Stonewall008 released a team battle Taric today.

Secondly he's overpowered and will most likely be nerfed sometime.

Very glad to hear that! I'll add the Team Battle Taric if he did jungle as the intro vid.

I also agree though. I expect ratios to go down on W, unless they're kind. As long as his jungle remains viable, I'll be happy, but will be monitoring closely. Hopefully this means this'll good some good traffic and information though!

Thank you all for the votes! I'm on my phone, so I won't screw with quoting right now.

About Nashor's, attack speed, and GA:

I actually considered all of these things. Nashor's was actually something I considered early on, but I just didn't feel like it ran as well as Gunblade. However, I'll definitely add it to the Alternatives section, as a replacement for Gunblade. It sefinitely has its place!

Attack speed in general doesn't feel so big for him here. By working on his AD, AP, and Armor I feel he gets a larger boost than just what a lot of AS can offer, since his Passive wont be too big until very late game.

As for GA, I don't feel it's really needed on Taric. He's already so tanky, and has a large heal, so I'm not sure it's an item slot. If you try it out though, let me know how it runs, I'd love to hear the results!

@Lawdevo: So can you give me some suggestions? Giving me a -1 without even offering some helpful feedback doesn't help improve this guide at all. If you do read this, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks so much for all the comments everyone!

You should get some attack speed to proc his passive more often and reduce the cooldown on Imbue. Nashor's Tooth, Malady, and Wit's End are viable options.

I'm surprised you never mentioned Nashor's Tooth, since it decreases the CD on Imbue. I guess it's because you're aiming more for an AoE-based clear.

Thanks a lot :) It's quite a funny pick, but you'd be surprised at the success you can get :) Outdueling an enemy jungler as what is considered a support is just enjoyable.
