I beat a renekton too in top lane, as well as a tryndamere, olaf, yasuo and even an orianna mid. If u build right, you can win. Vs ap suck as Teemo just rush spirit visage. When you get Iceborn Gauntlet you can start killing.

My friends said the same thing about the Renektons I beat on, 'Renekton always dominates lane, it must've been a bad player'.

If a Renekton lost lane to a Taric...they must be doing everything wrong. I actually went up against a Taric top as Renekton once. It was quite the pub stomp. It seems Taric is VERY VERY VERY (if even viable at all) specific to match ups. I dunno...I still don't really think he fits out to well top.

Keep working on it though...you never know.

To summery all this conversation you could just include in quide that overall you should only pick Taric into ad bruiser (or adc). You don't want to pick him into ap laner anyway since his kit just doesn't work that way.

Aaaand what comes to that Teemo...if he goes Blade of the Ruined King into fronzen mallet or so, you can play taric vs him and win it, but I highly doubt that Teemo would go ad build vs taric. It would be just stupid -.-'

Blade of the Ruined King and liandry's tournment together sounds really ****py combination. If you already itemize vs hp, why you do it again? Just pick one of them and go with that.

In the end it's pretty onesided quide of playing taric, but if you specify when it works it's all good.

Thank you for all the feedback. I have made minor changes to the Runes and Masteries pages as it's seemed to upset some people, though I still believe the build is perfectly acceptable.

So far I haven't lost lane as Taric top WITH THIS BUILD AND STRAT (Before this, I tried so many different combinations and items, I must've played about 15 games as Taric top in a row at one point), that's why I made this guide, because so far I've been unbeatable with this build and strategy, I've played a couple of ranked games as Taric top (after hours of abuse from my teammates), and managed a win/loss ratio of about 3:2.

As for the players I'm playing against, I'm in very low ELO, so I'm bound to get more bad players than good players, but every game? I've played against a lot of Fioras, some bad, some really bad, but others that managed to kill me at the very beginning (that dash bro - I underestimate that damage at level 1, that's my fault). My friends said the same thing about the Renektons I beat on, 'Renekton always dominates lane, it must've been a bad player'. I don't know, try it for yourself in normals and hope not to be paired against an AP Malphite for the first game. Thanks again.

Like everybody said, this build is easily counterable. I've had my experience trying bruiser Taric and the way he scales simply depends on his physical damage resistance. You see, it's either you'll be doing good damage or you're unable to scale well because if most of the team are magic damage dealers or 1 really fed ap carry(such as katarina) are raping you. YOU CAN still deal damage with Taric's scalings and be tanky but it won't be as effective as going against a full ad team thus being able to buy armor to really hurt them back. Taric can be an effective bruiser, he is just not as flexible as other bruisers though thus I would ONLY play him against an ad top laner if I get the chance. I really wish Taric got his 4% of his mana as magic damage on his autoattacks back >.<

Also I would preferably take those 9 mastery points in the offense right into the utility because the effectiveness of the offense tree just with 9 points isn't as strong as having those 9 points into the utility tree. Offense, you get like 4% cooldown reduction.... little ability power that doesn't help your damage scale all that much... and deal more damage to minions? That's not very great compared to the increased mana AND health regeneration the utility tree gives you. Having a 30 cooldown reduction on your summoner spell flash just because of the 10% cooldown reduction on your summoner spells sounds like a good bonus to me because Taric has absolutely NO gap closers except for a flash.

What I do like about your guide is your effort and its effectiveness against AD champions though.

I would make you suffer in agony with botrk + liandrys as Teemo. The guy you played against was most likely bad.

Uhm you're not going to win your lane against any AP champion when rushing thornmail IF they play it well. If they did lose to you, they ****ed up. Nothing else there is to it.

Ty for the feedback. I get told this time and time again when playing with friends, 'you need to build mr instead of just rushing thornmail' and so on, even against an ap teemo (the usual haunting guise-and-all-that-**** build) I rushed thornmail and won lane. As for the AP in the runes, that's simply because it's my AP rune page and I haven't got round to making a Taric top lane rune page. Since Taric is just armour that's all I focus on, if the enemy team is full of magic damage, I'll build MR, but that never happens.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Uff, you abort at the basics. You miss out that top lane macthups and enemies in general can be based on dealing magic damage and due to this MR items like Spirit Visage, Banshee's Veil or Mercury's Treads are viable and recommended too. Rushing Thornmail isn't viable because it forces you to build armor BEFORE you buy it. Frozen Heart seems to be a great choice and Iceborn Gauntlet can work out too.
AP in Runes isn't needed for you then and 0/21/9 or 9721/0 Masteries are optimal.
