Guide Top

AD Lane Shaco:

Many people think that 'Lane Shaco' is the worst possible build. This is not true. To be honest, if I had to choose only one build, I would go with 'Lane Shaco'. This is because you are not confined to one build if you lane. You can take any runes and masteries you want, and you'll be able build items to counter your enemies.

The first build I'll explain is *Lifesteal, AD, Crit %:

The most important stat in this build is lifesteal. You will be able to attack an enemy, and as long as you do not get stunned, blinded, nor exhausted, you will lifesteal more health than they will do damage to you.

Masteries : 23/0/7
Runes: Marks (Red) - Armor Pen
Seals (Yellow) - Crit Damage
Glyphs (Blue) - Cooldown (CD) per level (0.9% at 18)
Summoner Spells: Exhaust and Ghost
Skill layout:
Decieve (q) at level 1, 2shiv (e) at level 2. After this, max 2shiv first, and get JiTB either at level 1, 8, or 10, depending on when you feel you need it. Max Decieve (q), second, and finish off at 18 with JiTB. Get your ulti whenever you can.

Item build:
Start off with a Vampiric Scepter. To be able to do well, you need to learn how to last-hit enemy minions. Many enemies will not know when to attack you to harass. You can also auto-attack enemy minions once you lose health and need to lifesteal to replenish it. With AD Lane Shaco you need to be VERY! careful. You will easily take damage, and you won't be able to harass much. I've learned that throwing your 2shiv at enemy minions with very low health is a good way to farm minions. It doesn't use up too much of your mana, and as long as you don't use it more than once per wave, your mana pool won't dry up.
As Shaco, you can recall and come back to lane whenever you want. You have 325 base movement speed, which means that you'll get back to lane quickly, and you can out-run all of the enemy casters and ranged carries.

ITEM 1: VAMPIRIC SCEPTER

Because Shaco is so mobile, you won't feel the need to buy boots until the enemies do. A good item to buy for Shaco as a second item, are Bezerker's Greaves. These will help you immensely. A big problem for AD Carries is the reset for auto-attacks. While running behind enemy champions, you will catch up to them, and hit them, but you will stay in place while you cast the auto-attack animation, and then you will need to catch up to them again. This is stressful for many people, and the real only ways to get around this problem, are: getting movement speed, and learning how to: run, target and attack, stop targeting the enemy and run in front of them again, attack, and so forth.

ITEM 2 : BEZERKER'S GREAVES

Once you recall and buy your boots, you have 2 options. You can gank any of the 3 lanes, even your own, or you can go back to lane and continue to farm minions. Either way, you will need damage and mobility to continue. With greaves, you have 395 movement speed, which is a lot, but less than a couple of the fastest champions will go up against. Even with this fast movement speed, you will have the problem of not being able to catch up to slower champions, because of the auto-attack animation. You won't notice this if you find and kill an enemy with low health, running from a fight, but once you start chasing an enemy, you will attack, stop, attack, stop, etc. To solve this problem, again (xD), and to also give you many other boosts, you want to buy Youmuu's Ghostblade. Start off with whichever base item you feel you need most. I usually buy Brutalizer first, just for the cooldown reduction. Shaco has good base-damage, and needs other things at low levels. Avarice blade would be good if you are doing fine and just want to buy your item quicker, but as I said, Brutalizer is better if you feel that your spells have too long of a cooldown.

ITEM 3: YOUMUU'S GHOSTBLADE

Now that you have boots and one complete item, you want to use your first item to it's full potention. Set Youmuu's ghostblade to your #1 slow (upper-left-hand-corner of the 3x2 6-item slot section of your HUD. Just drag-and-drop. Don't worry, you can't drop it ;D. Now, whenever you are in a teamfight, or you need to run towards, or away, from something, press 1 on your keyboard to quickly activate your ghostblade. This will help, as the active gives you attack speed and movement speed. After I have my ghostblade, I'm ready to solo-gank, and kill most of the enemies in a 1v1 or 1v2 situation 2v2 (Shaco+Clone vs 2 enemies). Because this part of the guide is about lifesteal, you are going to build Vampiric Scepter into Bloodthirster (Vampiric Scecper + BF Sword -- +10 pts to anyone who can tell me that 'BF' stands for ;D). This is possibly the most gold you will have to save up for a single item - 1650. Make sure to kill a lot of minions, and now you can kill blue and red buffs without losing health or mana. If you can manage to have your Bloodthirster at full stacks, you will be much better off, than running around with a good item, not using it to it's full potential. (Like having a Warmog's without any health and regen stacks)

ITEM 4 (Slot 3, you used up your Vampiric Scecper to build this) : BLOODTHIRSTER.

Now that you have more lifesteal, mobility, and an active to use whenever you need it, you're going to focus more on crit %. Build a zeal. There's nothing that needs to be explained. This is an overall good item, but you don't want to build the entire phantom just yet. You don't need the full phantom.

ITEM 5 (Slot 4) : ZEAL

You have 2 slots left for items to build, and now you're going to get more damage to compliment you new-found crit %. It's time to buy an IE (Infinity Edge)! You have 2 options right now: Either get a BF Sword and complete your phantom, or buy your entire IE, and then finish your Phantom. (Btw -- If you don't know, you should be having teamfights and getting some good ganks by now.)

ITEM 6 & COMPLETEING 7 (Slot 4 and 5) : INFINITY EDGE & PHANTOM DANCER

The game should have ended before you finished either IE or Phantom, but if the game has gone on this long, you need to help your team out, but also you need to be able to counter their tanks and AD Carries. It's time for a Stark's Ferver. Not only will the aura benefit your team, this will help your lifesteal, and give you some more needed attack speed.

ITEM 8 (Slot 6) : STARK'S FERVOR

If the game still hasn't finished, sell your Bezerker's Greaves and buy a Phantom Dancer. Make sure to have enough gold to be able to buy the entire Phantom Dancer. Remember that you will get gold for selling your boots.

ITEM 9 (Slot 6) : PHANTOM DANCER

Now it's time to explain the second build:
*Mobility, AD, Crit%:

Masteries : 23/0/7
Runes: Marks (Red) - Armor Pen
Seals (Yellow) - Crit Damage
Glyphs (Blue) - Cooldown (CD) per level (0.9% at 18)
Summoner Spells: Exhaust and Ghost
Skill layout:
Decieve (q) at level 1, 2shiv (e) at level 2. After this, max 2shiv first, and get JiTB either at level 1, 8, or 10, depending on when you feel you need it. Max Decieve (q), second, and finish off at 18 with JiTB. Get your ulti whenever you can.

Item build:
Because this is a mobility heavy build, you're going to start with boots of speed. Buy those and 3 health potions, then go to lane. If you can, try and lane with someone who has a passive or active slow, snare, stun, etc. Good champions are : Alistar, Ashe (my 2 favorites), Kog'Maw, Blitz, Shen / Taric.

ITEM 1: BOOTS OF SPEED + HEALTH POTION X3

Now that you're off to a good start, continue to lane until you have money for boots of swiftness. This is nicely compliment your mobility build.

ITEM 1 (Slot 1) : BOOTS OF SWIFTNESS

Because of fast movementspeed, you will be able to harass nicely with Decieve (q). To do this, start running at an enemy champion, and while deciving, quickly click (to move) BEHIND the enemy champion. Because of this : Shaco will continue running while decieved (much like running right after flash or Trynd's spin), and it'll be easier to get BEHIND the enemy. REMEMBER THAT SHACO'S PASSIVE MAKES HIM DO 20% MORE DAMAGE WHEN BEHIND!!! AND ENEMY! Now that you're BEHIND the enemy, auto-attack them TWICE, and then while running back towards your team-mate and minions, throw your 2shiv. You can start doing this at lv 2, but I start at lv 3 when I have lv 2 2shiv. You will quickly use up your health potions by doing this, but you'll need to go back to base anyway for your next items. This is an easy tactic to get a couple of quick kills. I usually take 5-6 kills before 10 minutes doing this, before I go to kill blue and gank mid. Ask your team-mate to snare and stun the enemy, if you have a slowing ally (Ashe), you can attack them as they run, because they usually get scared and turn away. Autoattack as long as the enemy has their back turned, then run away when they turn around. Once back in base, you need lifesteal. Buy a Vampiric Scepter.

ITEM 2 (Slot 2) : VAMPIRIC SCEPTER

Go back to lane and continue doing this until you make about 1200 gold, then go back and buy a zeal. This is a short paragraph because you're doing the same thing as in the previous paragraph, but you can do it without potions this time because you have lifesteal.

ITEM 3 (Slot 3) : ZEAL (and possibly a health potion -- if you're having problems)

While running back to lane (try and always get the lane with blue if you're playing 'Lane Shaco') go over to blue. Before fighting him, use your ulti and make sure that the clone attacks him first (left alt + right click to control the clone). Then, decieve BEHIND the golem and attack him. After you have blue (don't worry about ulti, it has a low CD), go either to mid or your lane and gank. Even ganking your own lane will work, they usually push up to the tower while you are gone, and as long as your teammate doesn't feed / lose the lane, you're in for at least 1 kill. At this point you'll be lacking in damage. Shaco is a very weak AD carry, he is only as good as his items (and sometimes the person controlling him (the summoner)). You want to buy the Youmuu's ghostblade now. Start with whatever you need. Crit or CD, it's up to your, this is a costly item (2700g), but the items to make it are very inexpensive (ranging from 400 to 507 gold).

ITEM 4 (Slot 4) : YOUMUU'S GHOSTBLADE! (My favorite item)
