Yorick is a champion who gets most of his power from his summons. This build focuses on getting the ghouls out quickly while building Yorick's damage.

This is the basic rune set I use for every attack damage champion. It works well for Yorick too.

Armor Penetration becomes an amazingly useful stat later in the game. Using these runes helps Yorick tear down tanks pretty easy.

Health is good for everyone, and Yorick needs it to make both himself and his ghouls better.

I like the attack speed runes to help get early game kills. Since Yorick is less than spectacular early game, he needs all the help the can get.

Pretty self-explanatory. Yorick needs nothing at all with ability power. Yorick needs the offense to kill and the defense to protect himself. The health regen is very useful.

The boots take down his cooldowns so he can keep throwing out ghouls.

The manamune is the most useful item for Yorick. Later in the game, he can constantly throw out ghouls with next to no restrictions. It also boosts his attack damage so he can smack down the other team.

Yorick needs health to be effective. The frozen mallet gives all the health that I've ever needed for him. It also keeps enemies slowed when pestilence is on cooldown.

The rest of him items are just to make him kill things, and these are the most effective ones that I've found. Last Whisper is pretty ungodly for any champion.

Omen of War is great, but it's the last thing you need to get up. His slow and self heal are more important. Pestilence allows for some awesome early game kills and famine will help him recover from most everything. Get death whenever it comes up.

Yorick is pretty good when it comes to ganking. Exhaust helps towards that goal and ignite kills the "lucky" ones who get away with 10 health.

This build has always served me pretty well. As long as Yorick has his ghouls, he's incredibly strong. Reduce his cooldowns and bring up his mana regen. Ghouls will be all over the place.
