basic information and abilities

hello my name is jhz731 and my in game name is dwarf of fire and today I am going to be making a guide to the newest champion GNAR! Gnar is an awesome prehistoric yordle who is a master at kiting. Gnar's q is Boomerang Throw in which Gnar throws out his boomerang in a lined skillshot dealing damage, slowing, and applying stacks of his w Hyper gnar can catch the boomerang to reduce the cooldown by a lot. His w is Hyper which is a passive affect that applies on an enemy whenever Gnar attacks them or uses a damaging ability on them. When an enemy has been hit 3 times hyper triggers dealing a small amount of magic damage+a percentage amount of damage based on their maximum health, so it is awesome for shredding tanks(he also gains a speed boost when the stacks cap out.) Gnar's e is Hop a short jump that bounces if he lands on any unit and deals damage based on his maximum health if he lands on an enemy. Gnar's ult only has a passive effect in mini form granting him additional speed from hyper. his passive Rage Gene boosts his attack speed, movement speed, and range. Rage Gene also makes him gain rage for being in combat and basic attacking.
When Gnar reaches 100 rage he can turn into mega form instantly by casting an ability or just by waiting a few seconds. Mega gnar gains bonus health, health regen, armor, magic resist, and attack damage, but he loses the benefits of mini form. Mega form's q is Boulder Toss a lined skill shot that throws a big boulder that deals area damage and slows enemies in the area mega gnar can walk over and pick up the boulder to reduce the cooldown immensely. Mega form's w actually has an active effect called Wallop he winds up then slams his big fists on the ground dealing damage and stunning enemies in front of him. mega forms e is Crunch he jumps a short distance and deals area damage where he lands while slowing others in the area. Mega form's ult is GNAR! an area of effect attack in which gnar throws all enemies in the direction of your cursor dealing massive damage slowing them and stunning them if they hit a wall. synergies/counters

synergies
Lulu so he can gain lots of health in mega form from Wild Growth
Aatrox can get up in their face so you can gain enough rage for mega form
counters
Teemo who isn't this guy a counter to he out ranges you and can keep you blinded to prevent stacks of hyper against him play super passive and don't let him hit you with Blinding Dart
Riven she has tons of crowd control and the ability to get up to you in your face with Broken Wings is very hard to be against, so try to stay back, poke and stun her when you get mega

Team fights

he contributes a lot to a team fight with huge amounts of crowd control and aoe damage. He is much better in a team fight in mega form so try and keep your rage high so you can attack a little and then go mega form. try to Hop into the fight to turn into mega use GNAR! to stunt their whole team then use Wallop to keep them stunned. Use Boulder Toss to help clean up their team

Items

My items are different then many other people's because I build him like an adc with extra health focusing on my small form instead of my large. Runaan's Hurricane is awesome I have never seen it on anyone else's build but it is op because it applies hyper and after 3 attacks it deals 10% of their health in damage. The Bloodthirster is awesome with the 2.0 attack speed that is achieved by using the offensive parts of the build, and because of his high damage you can gain a lot of health back and gain a shield that will help block tons of damage.

the skill sequence that is shown above is mainly used if you are against a ranged champion it is still useful against a melee champion, but a build maxing Hyper / Wallop first will help you keep up with those tanky melee champions. There is only 1 point in Hop / Crunch because you will mainly use it for engaging and getting out of fights./columns]

Summoner spells

Flash is useful because you can engage and get out of fight so it is a must have. for the second summoner spell you have many choices
Ignite can be used to finish them off if you are in mega without the sustain damage but may not be as useful in mini form
Teleport is useful to get back in to lane after you recall, because you are so squishy you will have to recall once in a while
Ghost can be used for escaping and engaging fights
Heal is helpful because of your squishiness
