First Things First :D
Ezreal is a fascinating Champion.
Joe “Voyboy” Esfahani- "the youngest player among the [extremely dominant!] Dignitas five"- describes him as "one of the most fluid and dynamic champions in the game", noting that "playing him is always a blast, even if it’s not at the competitive level."
Hawkeye Ezreal is the product of dozens of games, excessive theorizing, tireless testing, extensive experimentation, and I'm really excited to share my findings with you guys :)
The power, efficiency, and consistency of this build is perfect for all your casual pubstomping needs!
Much gratitude to JhoiJhoi for the beautiful template :3
"So now America, with an open heart (and an empty stomach), I say unto you in the words of my uncle: 'Allez cuisine!!'"
Why (or Why Not) Play Ezreal?
+ Deal damage like a Titan.
+ Unrivaled mobility!
+ Get mad respect.
+ Trueshot Barrage :D
- Slow AND Fragile X)
- All skillshots!
- Less of a hard-carry than Caitlyn/ Graves.
Ezreal (like Corki) is a Black Sheep among carries.
Want to forgo Infinity Edge + Phantom Dancer shenanigans, blow people away like Clint Eastwood, and feel on top of the world while doing it?
Ez is your man.
AP, AD, or Hybrid?
I include this because a picture is worth 1,000 words.
A video is worth 1,000 pictures, so these videos are worth 1,000,000 words :D
All kidding aside, Ezreal is totally viable in all three roles.
The Attack Damage route is my favorite, for four main reasons:
- Amazing early-game dominance and farming capability
- Life steal (double- Doran's Blade)
- Sustained auto-attack damage
- 1.0 AD scaling on Mystic Shot and Trueshot Barrage
FOUR Skill Shots :O
- Rising Spell Force: Quite a potent Passive.
Throw out Mystic Shots and farm to daylight!
Essence Flux and/or Trueshot Barrage can fully charge this in an instant.
- Mystic Shot (Q): AD Ezreal is BOSS because of Mystic Shot.
It's the best of Overload and Parrrley rolled up into one!
Sheen makes it terrifying.
- Essence Flux (W): In an AP build, Essence Flux is a massive, piercing nuke.
In an AD build, it's got powerful and under-appreciated utility!
The speed buff and debuff is quite potent for 1v1s, teamfights, and taking turrets.
An excellent finisher in a crowd, as well!
- Arcane Shift (E): FREE Flash!
Don't initiate with Arcane Shift, because you're nearly un-catchable when it's combined with Flash and/or Ghost.
Finish off runners and leap walls to impersonate Spiderman.
- Trueshot Barrage (R): Trueshot Barrage is essentially a skill-dependent Requiem; Karthus pushes a button whilst Ezreal takes aim and fires away.
There's so much satisfaction is lining up the perfect shot and collecting your hard-earned cash.
Flash: Add Arcane Shift to insta-warp 875 units away!
Far too good to pass up.
Ignite: Finish 'em off.
In place of Ignite, you can snag Cleanse, Heal, Teleport, Exhaust, or even Ghost!
This requires a bit of explanation. Why not max Mystic Shot immediately?
Two reasons: 1) Mystic Shot only gains 20 damage per level. 2) Mana is a bit tight!
Your damage is virtually unaltered by this sequence, and your Mana sustain is vastly improved :D
Credit to Ferrovial and his Chillax, take it e-z™ Guide for the concept.
This combo has been awesome for me, but Runes are negotiable; it's your selection and preference :D
3 points in Swiftness gives Ezreal 310 base Movement Speed from 305, which is quite effective. Everything else is fairly standard; Meditation is awesome!
Adventures with Itemization!
With tanks, you have to optimize your build to defend against the particular opponents you face.
However, Ezreal just needs optimal damage and utility!
After almost 100 games as Ezreal, I believe this core build to be of maximum efficiency:
: Doran strikes again! His 3-in-1 items are worth their weight in Gold.
Snag another before Sheen~ you even get Life steal from Mystic Shot :3
: The Passive activates when you cast Mystic Shot, and the bonus damage is dealt when on-hit effects are applied! Nothing else adds damage so brilliantly.
: I used to buy Mercury's Treads, but if Ezreal gets touched by CC, he's generally a goner, so the Tenacity is wasted. Better to avoid it in the first place!
Experiment to find what works best for you.
: You have to try it to see just how good Trinity Force is on Ez.
Sheen just got 3/2 better, and Phage and Zeal came along for the ride!
: Keeps your Mystic Shot relevant!
It's just beautiful.
After you complete Last Whisper, acquire either a The Bloodthirster, Infinity Edge, or Maw of Malmortius, depending on your opponents and the current game-state!
RAINBOW ITEMS GOOOOOOOOOOO
Last of all, you can express your creativity!
Replace the two Doran's Blades with two items of your choice.
Pick up Doran's Blade, dance your Haruhi dance, yell "glhf!!", and stroll out to Bot or Mid-lane!
To farm, simply last-hit a minion with Mystic Shot, then enjoy your increased Attack Speed !
After playing a few games, you'll get a feel for the rate at which you can sustainably fire Mystic Shots, and the balance between harassment and farm that works best for you.
With an aggressive mindset, Ezreal has one of the most potent early-games in League!
If you've been farming well and/or fillin' coffins, you've got Trinity Force and are making people reeeaaaally sad :D In teamfights, use Trueshot Barrage on groups of enemies to even the odds and fully charge Rising Spell Force.
The acquisition of Last Whisper signals doom for your foes.
Team-play is essential! As the game wanes, stay with your mates and you should prevail :)
Here's five consecutive games with Ezreal!
Consistency is the greatest strength of the build.
I've never played a champion as completely satisfying as Ezreal!
Every success is absolutely earned; the term "overpowered" never even enters the discussion.
Give him a shot (no pun intended) and I think you'll agree :D
