Introduction
This is how I build him, you do not have to follow it and by all means do not go by the very same build every game.
Also to follow this build effectively you have to be able to last hit minions to counter an enemies build before it is fully completed, to stop what they have currently. Staying alive is essential, and through my build, easy.
This build is an attempt for early game domination, because if you can win the early game the end game will be easy.
Greater Mark of Desolation
I get desolation marks, but that brings devastation early. This damage boost is amazing, you cannot go wrong with it.
As an alternative I'd get flat attack damage marks, BUT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DESOLATION.
Flat armor, because you need something to absorb their penetration marks. This and your passive will have them dealing nearly no damage in the laning phase, + with the abundance of minions you can keep your passive very high and harass often.
If I were to trade these out I'd get flat health seals.. Or Dodge if I expect a lot of attack damage, or need some stand-alone attack damage counter.
I get flat magic resist to try and pubstomp them early as I can. Mess up their early game, mess up their late. Having magic resist allows me to stay and harass longer than I normally would be able to, and makes their harass less effective, especially early since they don't have much ability power.
If I wasn't going to get these I'd get flat cooldown reduction, which would help me harass.
This flat damage not only makes my auto attacks better, meaning better crits, but also helps buckshot greatly. That early damage + getting close to them is amazing. Buckshot does so much more damage up close, and that's what we want early. You Devastate them with a single buckshot. Any champion with cc can get you some nearly assured first blood.
If I didn't get strength, I'd get desolation instead.
