Introduction

So you think you're tough, eh? Well you're not as tough as Graves. Welcome to my build for this bruiser-with-a-shotgun. I hope you like it! I do not claim to be the best player, but I enjoy playing Graves and I think with his skills (especially his passive) he brings something new to the League of Legends: a true tanky ranged dps.

What made me decide to actually create a guide for him is that nobody seems to be building him in this way. But I find it works quite well. Also, I thought the Champion Spotlight for Graves was terrible, and I hope that this guide might offer a different, and perhaps better (or at least more original) outlook on this tough guy champ.

Pros / Cons

Pros:

  • High burst damage plus excellent AD scaling
  • Passive makes him fairly tough
  • Unique skill in Smokescreen
  • Good mobility with Quick Draw
  • Devastating AOE Ultimate with large range

Cons:
  • Many (all) skillshots
  • Passive armor and magic resist bonuses don't last long out of combat (can easily drop while trying to run away)
  • Mana hungry
  • Crowd control hurts (which is kinda the point, though...)
  • Lower range than almost all other ranged champions (Smokescreen helps with this)
  • Quick Draw isn't a terrific escape skill, since its range is somewhat small
