The change to Wriggle's Lantern did almost nothing. The new lifesteal mastery exactly compensates for the nerf. I will be updating the masteries as soon as mobafire gets new coding and I do some testing. It's going to take a bit, so please be patient.

Oh no, I don't mean to be negative about anything. Actually, I'm really glad that you posted promptly! I've tried jungling as Nocturne in bot games (to avoid trolling in PVP); unfortunately, I'm new to jungling so I usually have to recall after the Wraiths or I die at the Golems. Maybe it's just I need to practice more?

Nocturne can be a very temperamental jungler, especially when you start with a vamp scepter. I'd suggest taking 21/0/9 with the new masteries for now (I might change that later after some testing). You'll also need a good runeset and proper technique to complete the route (hitting all the creeps with Q, etc.).

The fact that I'm only a level 18 summoner doesn't help either :P. Which masteries are more important to complete first? Offense or Utility?

Bl4zeX: Please be patient, it's going to take time.

OblivionWraith: The offensive tree generally provides the most jungle strength. The defensive tree is good for tanky junglers like Rammus (though it can be useful on other junglers as well). The utility tree is where you sink whatever points you can get away with, though it generally doesn't help your jungle route. If you're having trouble with the route, I'd recommend the offensive tree (or maybe defensive) to start with. You might need to start with Cloth Armor and 5 pots if you're that low of a level.

If it doesn't work out, just try out jungling again when you get to level 30. It's a lot easier with full runes and masteries.

Well, I moved almost all of my mastery points to Offense. I think I left just one for Utility in the Improved Recall mastery, and even that will probably be adjusted. Can't wait to try out Nocturne again, the Offense tree looks like it will help a lot more than dividing between Utility and Offense.

Hi,
consider getting 1 mastery point into +10 dmg to towers. Because after seccesful gank you usually push a tower AND nocturne is great split pusher. imo must on him. Better than 1%CDs.
And i have improved smite, becaue after supperior rout, i usually have 320 gold and i hate waiting 15sec :-/ i only go 21/0/9 when i plan counter-jungling.

you should go 21/1/8 to be a good jungler, and change util for more mana
as you should give blue after 1st or 2nd use to (for example anivia)
scout is for the support as you should only set 1 or 2 wards early mid game
the 10 gold on smite is big and a must.
but then again thats the way i think he should be played :)

OblivionWraith: Haha, well have fun with your experiments :P I have some testing of my own to do. Don't underestimate the value of Runic Affinity though. For only one point, it's a very strong mastery.

owecka: I don't think Sorcery is an essential mastery, but I don't think a tower-pushing mastery is very necessary at all. If you switch up those two points, it won't hurt you at all, so feel free. I'll keep your suggestion in mind for the future.

Weird that you finish so early. I'll do some more testing when I have time. If you're using the exact same runes and masteries, you should finish with a little under 335 gold. If you're finishing that early, I would recommend taking out the 3 AS marks, or perhaps considering an alternative mastery tree. I will investigate this matter further when I get some more time on my hands.

djaydino: Please remember that masteries are very much dependent on personal preference and playstyle. I don't think that such a dogmatic attitude is appropriate for such a subjective topic, especially with the huge amount of new options after the release of the new mastery set. Play how you want, but just because my masteries are different than yours does not mean that yours are better.

I also don't agree with you. A 21/1/8 tree means you'll be missing out on Runic Affinity . Even accounting for buffs given to your carries, I would expect to get more than 5 buffs in an average game, which makes the mastery very important (2 on the initial sweep, 1 or 2 additional reds for ganking mid-game, and then extra buffs from counter-jungling and killing the enemy jungler). I agree that the gold bonus on Smite is awesome to have, but right now I'm not willing to sacrifice a point from the other trees. Meditation is also unnecessary (though not useless) because you'll have access to 1-2 blue buffs in a regular early game, which is when Nocturne's mana problems are the most severe. Late game, your mana pool should expand enough on its own to keep up with your usage. You don't need to spam your abilities like you do in the early jungle, and you'll be recalling more often anyway. As I said in my masteries section, this is of course always subject to change.

Supports are not the only ones in the game that should be buying wards, especially with the new aggressive changes to the meta. With the Clairvoyance nerfs, wards are even more vital than they were before the latest patch. As a jungler with Wriggle's Lantern, I would estimate more than 10 wards placed in an average game, with a lot more ward activity in high level games or pre-arranged teams of 5. Junglers have the opportunity to roam and provide ganks and map control, which puts them in an ideal position for warding. While Scout is by no means a vital mastery, you should be able to get a lot of use out of it if you're warding regularly.
