Well no point in aruging this further you just blew it out of the water, and then some. I really ought to try this more, maybe even reread that guide. I may even try out your build, and I will give you some of my scores (hopefully sucessful ones).

Also dang you live in the EU I was hoping we may be able to play with each other sometime.

I play on the EU servers (I live in the EU).
Yes, playing defensive has its pros and the playstyle doesn't matter (except if it doesn't work). I like the science and psychology part of games (and real life). For example there have been tests that showed that when there's a guy running at the enemy with a weapon while he's screaming (battlecry) he actually affects the reaction time of the enemy. Using a battlecry slowed the reaction of the enemy (feel like getting jumped on/surprised/out of comfort zone), which basicly led to the enemy getting hit first and the fight was over before it even started.

A different test in the setting of a classic western shootout showed that the person that draws his gun first, most of the time dies first. Why? The second person that reacts to the gun draw of the first person has hightened senses and more of an adrenaline rush or whatever. This is probably why in western movies they stand there waiting for half an hour ;).

Basicly the body reacts to dangerous situations, making you perform better (gogo auto-buff?) (we all know the "I lifted something insanely heavy to save a life" stories). Some would consider waiting for the first move being defensive, you could also say you're passively agressive for a moment, waiting to capitalize on a mistake the opponent might make.

Translate this into any PvP videogame:
    - Be in control of your opponent (make him feel your superiority);
    - Set the pace for the battle and keep them guessing (or like Sun Tzu said: "All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near. Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him".
    - In a very decisive moment (moments before a clutch in a FPS) dont rush things, give the enemy the opportunity to make a mistake, then punish them for it;
    - Play in any way you want, provided that your way can actually lead to victory! (if it's not broken, don't fix it)

Alright I read the section, and I do agree with alot of what he said. (I also find it interesting since I like psychology as well). Though sometimes playing defensive is just a good as playing offensive.

For example: if I'm offensive I will push my lane and I will naturally attempt to deny my opponet exp, and gold. Well that is great and all, but as your harrassing your foe you remember they have a jungler. Suddenly a Shaco appears, and begans attacking you as well as the enemy mid. Well now your in a situation, you can attempt to gold card one of them, but chances are it won't last nearly long enough for you to escape in good health. (Even if you escape chances you will be low enough for them to tower dive you and finish the job).

Now if I play defensivly sudden movement, can suggest that something very bad is about to happen to that person. Not only am I safe from ganks, and just because someone is defensive does not mean that they cannot cause the same emotions to appear. Fear is probaly the easiest to cause defensively. I mean for all the other person knows is that your just sharpening your claws till someone is ready to gank, like a jungler or a stealth character. If it goes off sucessfully or maybe you don't get them have you heard of "Once bitten twice shy?" Coordination with your team mates can cause fear, and bring confidence to your team. As for anger how frustrating would it be to see your foe just sitting there taunting you as they poke you, and you can't really do anything about it for if you try to get a kill what could happen? Well they have a tower there for starters, and what if they have a jungler or someone is mia?

Wow I just realized how bias that arugment is, but what I'm trying to say in short is. You can cause the same emotions playing offensively, or defensivly. Each playing style has thier own pros and cons.

P.S. Do you play on the US servers by chance?

I honestly think getting Doran's blade 1st is putting your gold in the wrong place. The buffs to doesn't make up for the fact taht you can't take a potion with it. I would suggest getting a vampric scepter it will help you lane longer, but you won't have as much AD. That is just what I do because sometimes that lifesteal doran's gives you is not enough to allow you to lane longer.

Thanks for your comment.
I see what you mean, with any other rune-setup I would be inclined to say yes. But with these runes (extra defenses and higher damage), I feel I do not need a vampiric scepter.
It's indeed a viable option, however like you said, the AD drops hard. I've tried it and it just drops too much.
With Doran you survive because your enemies will run out of your auto attacks (too much damage if they stay) and they won't even get near you without a gank or CC. This puts you in an offensive position.

With Vampiric Scepter the enemy won't even blink when he gets hit by your auto attacks. This puts you into a defensive position, he isn't afraid to push forward, and so he will, he will deny you last hits, or even xp if he zones correctly. There's a psychological effect in playing offensive and defensive. Check this ezreal guide, when it comes to runes and playstyle wise its the same. Read the appropriate sections on psychological effects in game. It works exactly as he explains. So after reading that, ask yourself wether you want to be defensive or offensive ;).
