I love using Heimerdinger, he is definitely one of my favorite heroes. Unfortunately, he is someone that almost always should be in the solo mid on Summoner's Rift, or should at least be soloing a lane. This is not a requirement for him, because he gains level fine regardless, but it sucks for his teammates since Heimer will last hit minions soooo often that a lane partner ends up under-leveled. He works very well if you have a jungler or need a mid. He can easily hold off most heroes, even if there are two.

Some advice:
Always lay turrets. Even if you don't see how it would be useful now, make sure to always have two turrets placed or be planning on where to place the two turrets. If you have time while running away to drop one do it since a counter push could end up with you pinging a retreating champion and killing them.

When your Concussion Grenade hits lv4 and your Micro-Rockets is Lv1, you can kill the wraith creeps without even leaving the mid lane. You can also kill the enemy wraiths, depriving them of EXP and getting you some too!

Harass the enemy champ with your grenade all game. You will keep a ranged champ on their toes with running to avoid and a melee champ will not want to advance cause you will stun them and run.

I welcome comments and criticism, but please understand that this is my opinion on the best way to play. I seem to get some regular success but welcome any suggestions. Thanks!
