Evelynn

If you want to be good at a champion you have to be the champion:

Evelynn's origins are shrouded in mystery - a mystery she herself helps to perpetuate. What everyone does know about Evelynn, however, is that she is one of the most skilled assassins in Valoran. It is clear upon first meeting her that she is not quite human. Some theorise that she was cursed with a mild form of fantastical vampirism as a child. Supporters of this theory contend that her ability to sap the very life essence of her opponents on (and off) the Fields of Justice, while still being able to tolerate direct sunlight, would account for this belief. There is some evidence that Evelynn originally came from the Shadow Isles - the mysterious island located northwest of Valoran that is eternally blanketed by a thick, unnatural fog. It is thought that the Shadow Isles are home to countless forms of undead, though no one seems eager to perform the exploration necessary to find out the truth. Evelynn neither confirms nor denies her connection to Shadow Isles.

The power brokers of Valoran know that Evelynn's services come at the highest of premiums, and her recent addition to the League of Legends indicates that her ambitions are growing. Her savagery on the Fields of Justice has been so great that new rumours about her origins are now circulating. The most popular one - an abuse of magic as a child morphed her into the hungering beast her opponents see on the battlefield - always makes her smile when hearing it... an act which bares her razor-sharp fangs and teeth. Evelynn now curries favour from League summoners, gaining influence for reasons known only to her. While the nature of her plans- much like almost everything else about her - remains unknown, there's little doubt that those plans are now set on the world stage.

PROS/CONS

Pros:

-Amazing late game if fed! Can carry feeding teams while split pushing with invisibility!

-Invisibility! Evelynn can use this to easily gank, explore enemy jungle camps, and even trick laners to think that she is leaving. That is one of my favorite parts about Evelynn because it makes her special!

-Has a good kit! Hate Spike allows for spamming, while Dark Frenzy can be used to escape any slows. Agony's Embrace is an area slow/shield, and Ravage is pretty much an instakill mid game.

Cons:

-Has no gap closer. Must rely on surprise to catch up with enemies. Only has a slow and a speed boost, but no CC ability.

-Larger range for error (both when being invisible and play style). After Riot decided to boost the range that you could see Evelynn, it has become much harder to carryout the many tricks used before.

-Hard early game. Evelynn relies on a good early game, which doesn't help since she isn't tanky. We fix this by building tanky early/mid game, while building AD and ganking often.

Summoner Spells

Ghost

I use Ghost to either catch enemies, commit to a fight, or run. This can be used to catch someone by Ghosting towards them, then using Dark Frenzy (W) to speed up, Agony's Embrace (R) to slow them, and then spamming Hate Spike (Q) and Ravage (E). I use Ghost while ganking a lane to quickly assault someone.

Smite

Smite is a given. You need this as a jungler, and it allows you to later get Skirmisher's Sabre - Warrior so you can take reduced damage from a champion. Smite monsters to stay alive and yeah, if you play jungle, you should know what this is. One reason I later get Skirmisher's Sabre - Warrior is that Evelynn is some what squishy, so this allows you to smite the enemy carry or other fed champions in order to survive.

Flash

Flash is good yes, however, it is not needed on eve, you are invisible so you can easily escape your enemies, use ghost to make it so THEY cant escape you.

Items

Skirmishers Sabre

Skirmisher's Sabre - Warrior is easily the best jungler item for this build. Evelynn is great at 1v1'ing, so this makes it even easier for us to win fights. In teamfights, make sure to always Smite the enemy carry or the most fed player on the team. This reduces the damage dealt to you by that champion by 20%. I always get this first since you are the jungler. Make sure to Smite your first jungle camp too, no matter where you start!

Trinity Force

With changes in 6.11, Trinity Force now became a perfect item for Evelynn. The passive is perfect since we are building ad and have really small cooldowns with Hate Spike (Q). We didn't need critical strike so when that was removed it just helped us, and the attack speed increased to 40%, making this item perfect for the build. This can be switched out for other items but I now wouldn't recommend it!

GhostBlade

Great item on Eve, this will complete all the damage you ever need and mobility, this will allow you to catch any enemy (including a Rammus using ghost!) and then kill them instantly with your E, I do not recommend trading this out for any item.

Boots

there are three main types of boots as eve you can possibly get if your going AD eve these are:

CDR boots

In my opinion, these are the best boots all around on Evelynn. They're cheap, and Evelynn benefits heavily from the ability CDR and the summoners spell CDR. If you have no specific reason to get any other boots, grab these unless your build already hits the CDR cap.

Boots of swiftness

Boots of swiftness are good on Evelynn because she loves the higher than usual movespeed the item provides and the slow reduction along with their cheap price. It's the best option if you heavily value being mobile in fights, or you're against a lot of enemies with slows.

Ninja Tabi

If the enemy team has auto attack damage you can't deal with, or is composed heavily of physical damage dealers, get these boots.

Why not more damage?

The answer is simple, late game people will do more damage, it is important that you get some tank items so you can take there damage then kill them. So what Items do I recommend? Personally the last 2 items I would go for are:

Armor Items

Pick one of these:

Deadmans

This is your go-to item if you need armor due to how well the passive synergizes with Evelynn's "roam and gank" strategy. It should be your go to buy VS most threatening physical damage.

Randuins Omen

Buy this item if you're against lots of threatening critical strike damage, or if you need more armor in addition to dead man's plate. The active gives a lot of utility and can help with just about any kind of fight you're in.

Magic Resist Items

Finish your build off with one of these

Banshees Veil

If you need more magic resist, this is what you should go for most of the time. The spell shield means it's harder to poke you down and can shield you from critical crowd control.

Spirit Visage

The only time you'd want this item is for the CDR, the passive, or if you've already bought all of the other magic resist items and still need more. It also works good in builds that have some sort of healing in them (Hybrid, Hydra AD)

Runes

The runes are quite simple, 9 AD reds simply because armour pen is now leathality which is not as good early, and the AD makes your ganks scarier and allows you to clear easily.

9 Armour seals to reduce jungle mob damage and give you some sustain vs the jungle.

This one is personal preferance, you can either choose 9 MR glyphs or 9 AP damage glyphs, personally I go for the AP ones because my aim is to do as much damage early game as I can and this helps me gank people with more damage than they expect.

Lastly, quintessences, you can either take AS quints or AD quints, both are good, AS help you clear faster allowing you to gank more often, and AD allow your ganks to be more lethal.

Masteries

You want your standard 12/18/0 This allows you to do the most damage possible on eve which is what you want. the masteries are quite straight forward so I don't think there is a need to explain them.

How to Play Eve 101

Jungler is prolly the most important role. Its the most independent, impacts game the most, but this means, not only the jungler can win the game, he can also loose it. His mistakes can be most crucial. Evelynn in particular is very different from other champions. Her play-style can vary from build to build. AP builds are more assassin oriented and obviously she adopts that play-style- taking down squishies and contributing large amount of damage in team fights. AD build on the other hand is more bruiser oriented. her job will be to bait on enemies, join with strong engages and pull enemies attention away from allied carries, peel for them, occasionally assassinating fragile enemies. It also offers greater dueling capability against more durable enemies. Its of crucial importance to adjust your play-style to reflect your item build.
Evelynn is strongest during early and mid game, when players are in laning phase. Then you can really pick on zoned and unprepared enemies. This makes it really important to have early power spike and means minding your gold gain. Expensive items can delay that power spike, avoid them unless ahead. Thats why Echoes and Warrior are so important to have. Thats why Triforce or Rabbadon can be hard to fit. Late game you should stick with your team and combine efforts for important game objectives like taking turrets, Drake and Baron. Eve has strong team fight potential, but her assassin capability is compromised if the enemy team stays grouped.
Evelynn main weapon is her stealth. When ganking, dont rush engage, but wait for a good opportunity. She is stripped of CC and gap closers, thats why its important to hit the best moment for gank, when the enemy is vulnerable. This could be when he is pushing and alone, which makes it hard for him to retreat to safety. Let the enemy bait on your allies, make sure they use some cds. Consult with your team and join them when the enemy is out of Flash, ultimate or other important abilities. Certain champions dont need much help and can provide almost certain gank success, such can be assassins like Fizz, Zed and Ahri, or champs with strong CC like Mao'kai, Riven and Pantheon and others like Rumble, Darius etc. If you have such champion in your team, make sure you abuse his power.
Dont take it to you to help everyone at all cost. You goal is to win, not to help. Sometimes there are bad players, or bad champions, where you cant help. When a lane is loosing and the enemy is fed, it can take great amount of resources to help(time, spells, cds) with a lower chance of success. At the end instead of one player behind, you might become two and the enemy even more fed. Focus your power on certain objectives, where you can earn more, with less effort. This is how you can carry a teammate whos behind.
For maximum farm efficiency, try to line up your objectives. Take monster camps on the way for a gank, or while expecting something to happen in the area, e.g. Drake fight. Avoid runing from one side of the map to the other for split matters. Tax lane minions when you give kills to your team. After successful gank, abuse the enemy weakness and push for turret, or force a more important objective like Drake and Baron. Remember Evelynn is very dependent on her team for such objectives and you gotta make sure you have their support. She is naturally a bad split pusher. Item build can fix those gaps to certain degree.
Beside simply out-ganking the enemy jungler, a major option is to counter him. This basically consists of following his location and decision and predicting them. This can let you counter his ganks, farm his area of the jungle while he is away, or even snipe a Drake. Eve is especially strong at prowling and is very capable to steal monsters which the enemy is fighting, or surprising him unprepared. Ofc the same can happen to you. You should be aware, especially when playing against certain champs which are strong in this department such Lee Sin, Jarvan IV, Shaco, Rengar and Nunu. There are small tricks on your disposal to handle such situation, like fighting monsters in a bush, positioning with good vision to a possible gank rout and ofc, wards. Control ward is a must to have and can secure almost an entire part of your jungle. In dire situations, ask your team for additional assistance and warding. The most important thing is do not get tilt and fall to follow the counter-jungle taunt. Sometimes you cant directly face the enemy and fight him and is better to just use the time he is busy farming your monsters to gank his team or take his part of the jungle.
