Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
This is a very basic build on Kogmaw. It is intended to get people on the right track when playing kogmaw.
This mastery set up is very basic and should be self explanatory. (if it isn't leave a comment)
Rune Choice explanation:
The rune choice is basic and constructed from runes most people should have. The quints and seals are there to provide some survivability, the glyphs are there so you don't have to bluepill every 3 min for mana and the marks are there to increase your damage output.
Attack speed runes are also extremely viable on kogmaw but not on very many other champions. My recommendation would be to buy attack speed marks or quints only if you really want to main/play alot of Kogmaw.
Item Build explanation:
This is the core build you want to start with as Kogmaw. You should always, with few exceptions, try to rush that madreds. You want to buy the damage and attack speed components of it first.
I chose Merc treads for this build because merc treads are probably the best boots in the game and helpful in keeping you alive. Other equally viable boots are boots of swiftness (if you need to position yourself carefully in teamfights/kite) or beserkers greeves (if you are already crushing your opponent or their team has no CC).
I rarely get past this core build in most my games as kogmaw but when I do i generally buy a banshees veil/guardian angel or an additional attack speed item*. This choice depends on circumstance.
*for those unaware don't ever buy malady it is the worst item in the game.
