Threat Champion Notes
1
Karthus He has the weakest laning phase ever granted you can dodge Q's.
1
LeBlanc You are a hard counter. Like no joke. Suuuuuper hard counter. Naut only can you block her burst combo, but every time she dashes, you can auto her to instalock her in place for you to deal your damage winning you the trades. When she goes invisible, your auto proc will already tell you whos the real one so ignite and ult away!
1
Nidalee Side step spears. Beat the mess out of her when she goes melee form.
1
Akali AA. Shield. AA. Oh she went invisible? E. Take a wild guess at where she's at and throw a Q while you're at it and laugh at her face as she runs away from your undodgeable ulti granting you a free kill
1
Brand Like Lux, side step to win and avoid damage at all costs. From there just burst him down when he mispositions.
1
Katarina Snare her when she shunpos onto you and combo her to death. Oh she has ulti? Cancel it with your ult and burst her again. And again. And again.
1
Vladimir Stay away from his damage radius and capitalize on his mispositionings like Annie except he can be untargettable sometimes.

Ezreal LOOOOOOOOOL

Introduction

Greetings! My name is Swisherland

I am currently a Gold 2 on my way to platinum and I have some valuable insight on something not necessarily new but refreshing for the upcoming season 6! I used to play a lot of Nautilus Top/Mid back in Season 4 and after Season 5 meta shift, I swapped over to more carry roles like Azir, Zed, Varus, Ezreal, and a few pocket picks here and there. Season 6 pre-season changes really shook the meta and the champions I played a lot have very different play styles as well as old picks being significantly more powerful. This is my first guide and I hope you enjoy it!

Pros / Cons

PROS

Nautilus is an excellent pick for teams lacking CC but also need a bursty mid lane mage.
-High DPS early game
-Auto Attack Resets from W
-Excellent Team Fighter
-Destroys low mobility comps
-Insane snowball potential

CONS

While Full AP Mid Nautilus is a very viable pick, often your teams will disagree with you.
-Low Mobility
-Combo Reliant
-MR Denies 80% of his damage
-Easily ganked
-When behind you are essentially a support Nautilus
-Most people will think you're a troll pick in Solo Q

Laning Phase

Nautilus thrives on short aggressive trades. At level 1 you can auto all the minions to make sure you set the lane up for a great trade as your enemy mid laner (if melee) will have to dangerously walk close to you and CS giving you the free AA W AA combo and if he steps too close, a third auto will proc Thunderlords dealing 80% of their HP if they have no MR. From there, the autos you've given to the enemy also deals damage to the minions meaning you can last hit the minions and still deal damage to them if they are still within your damage radius. Level 2 You can either take E or Q depending on how well they can position. E allows for more lane control as you can last hit minions from afar and Q allows a good escape if you know a jungler gank is coming. Level 3 you take your third unused ability and control the minion wave. From here, your kit allows you to precicely manipulate where you want the minions to go and most likely your enemy laner has out pushed you which is good overall because it provides safety from over extending. You can cast your shield and walk to the side right outside of turret aggro and freeze the lane there. With your E readily available, your enemy mid has to step close to your damage radius and if you can land the slow, you can auto W auto them and the whole minion wave if done correctly will be cleared allowing your minions to out push and attack the enemy giving you the overall better trade and high CS. If timed correctly, you can throw your Q if they run away forcing them to burn flash or take the final blows as you pop ignite and watch as they die from the DoT of your W coupled with ignite.

Summary

This is my first guide and I've only recently been playing mid Nautilus. His animation cancelling is actually very deceptive and when you last hit minions, you can cancel his auto just before he strikes down to allow more mobility to position where you need to be. While it may not be the strongest of all mids, his kit is indeed fun and very intimidating for enemy laners as they aren't used to facing off against the matchup. I hope you enjoyed this guide and I hope to see you all in solo q! Enjoi~
