Well, hello guys I am IG Centurion from Insidious Gamers and I decided to create this guide because Malphite is my main and I think its one of the best builds. I am using this build most on normal games but runes and masteries are very helpful for Ranked games too.
For runes, I have chosen the most efficient out of each section. Greater Seal of Health x9 to maximize the starting health applied to your champion, Greater Mark of Armor x9 to have in full efficiency some starting armor against the enemy's adc and turrets. Greater Glyph of Magic Resist x9 to control the whole map either for ganks either when ganked. And last but not least Geater Quintessence of Armor x3 OR you can chose one quintessence out of each, one for health, one for magic resist and one for armor.
For Masteries I reccomend 0/21/9 focusing on Armor, Health and Magic Resist. Those they will help you have more resist against your enemy's pokes either with basic hits either with abilities. So if you want a never-fallen or a hero tank just go for those masteries. Have a quick look right here:
About the spells now. Malphite is a mana consumer champion, and due to poking q Seismic Shard, which costs a hell lot of mana, I reccomend Clarity for helping your laner too. Seismic Shard combined with exhaust gives you the best opportunity to catch up with your opponent and help the rest of the team to reach him in your goal to kill him or either to slow the enemy team chasing you or one of your teammates. So,you can go for Clarity and Exhaust.
Malphite is an excellent tank but very offensive one. So as you can split the improvement on both Ground Slam and Brutal Strikes I suggest first of all to max Seismic Shard and then decide either open your armor ability or max a bit your damage. Take alook a the sequence here:
Creeping / Jungling / Ganking
If solo on lane open your E Ground Slam to finish quickly minions' waves and push easily. In any other situation just hit with your E to poke minions and help your adc take the last hits. When in jungle, open Brutal Strikes and Ground Slam to clean the jungle minion camps and move quickly through the jungle. When in need to gank a lane, make sure you have your spells and debuff abilities ready so you can give your laner the kill.
Pros / Cons
- He is a good sutainer with that build
- You can get most of the enemy's team damage and still be in condition to tank and fight more.
- Way much helpful for your team, you can tank very easily turrets, champions and baron
- Although a good sustainer, doesn't deal high amounts of damage as solo abilities
- He can only focus one target at a time, but he can help others stop the enemy team
