Introduction

We are the CasualAsianGamers.

First and foremost, this guide is based solely on how we play Ashe, but does not apply to other AD carries. we play Ashe either passively or offensively, depending on who our support is. For example:
If our support is very offensive, such as Blitzcrank or Leona , then we would follow up whenever our support initiates.

However, if our support is a passive healer, such as Taric or Soraka, then we would just passively farm my lane, and when we feel confident, initiate with our arrow and let our support follow up.

Our support also corresponds to our first item.

The Frost Archer's Skills

Passive: Focus - Ashe's critical strike chance increases by 3 / 6 / 9 / 12 / 15 / 18% every 3 seconds while not attacking. Focus' bonus is expended with her next basic attack.

Ashe's passive is a good passive for the early game skirmishes or invading. When you start out the game try and use your critical on a champion but don't make yourself lose farm when you attack them. If you can't hit them then just don't worry about it and use it on a creep.

Q: Frost Shot - (Toggle): Ashe's basic attacks slow her targets for 2 seconds.

This ability, along with Volley, is what gives Ashe her amazing ability to kite and chase people. The slow on it is really great and makes it so you don't have to buy a Frozen Mallet and you can buy another item i.e. Banshee's Veil.

W: Volley - Ashe fires 7 arrows in a cone, dealing physical damage to each target hit. Each arrow will only hit one enemy, and each enemy will only be hit by one arrow. Volley also applies the current rank of Frost Shot, regardless if it is toggled on or not.

Volley is Ashe's main damaging skill(since only 50% of her abilities are damaging) and this also applies the slow from your Q. This ability provides a consistent poke at your enemies and it can also damage multiple minions with one cast making you able to finish off multiple creeps.

E: Hawkshot - (Passive): Ashe gains bonus gold whenever she kills a unit or destroys a structure.
Bonus Gold: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5
(Active): Ashe animates a hawk to scout for her, revealing terrain for 2 seconds as it flies towards a target location. Hawkshot reveals a wide area for 5 seconds when it reaches its destination. The hawk will reveal units in the brushes, but will not reveal stealthed units or objects.

This ability is amazing for quick gold gain and it is also good for scouting certain areas. If the enemy is doing Dragon/Baron, you can just use Hawkshot and hopefully your team can go and catch them off. The extra gold on the passive of this makes it that your creep score is so much more important. Some people say that the isn't much, but it is still extra gold. Say that you kill 75 creeps; you have enough to buy a sight wardSight Ward.

R: Enchanted Crystal Arrow - Ashe fires a large arrow in a straight line. If it hits an enemy champion, it will deal magic damage and stun that champion for up to 3.5 seconds based on the distance the arrow traveled. Additionally, surrounding units take half the damage and are slowed by 50% for 3 seconds.

Ashe's ultimate is a global skillshot that damages and stuns the enemy it hits for a different amount of time depending on how far away the arrow was shot from. So if you shot an arrow to base and it hit somebody at top lane's first tower, then it will damage them and stun them for a longer duration providing more time for your teammate to finish them off if possible. A little nice part of it is that there is an AOE around the target hit that slows nearby enemies and it also deals damage to them. This makes it so you can still miss and maybe defeat your target. Her ult is also an amazing initiate because of how long the stun may be. You can stun the enemy AD carry while your team jumps on them so the enemy team will not have an AD carry in the fight that shortly follows. The enemy team down a member provides your team with a HUGE advantage.

Ashe's skill sequence is pretty straightforward.
Volley maxed first for most damage output > Frost Shot or Hawkshot second depending on whether you prefer slow output of gold income. And obviously her ult whenever you can.

If initiating, you want to open with your ultimate, and let your team collapse on your opponents as you stay in the back and dish out as much damage and cc as possible.

Items

Infinity Edge Is what Does the damage. It is your MAIN source of damage because of the Incredible 250% crit damage
Phantom Dancer ENHANCES your dps because of the ridiculous attack speed and the insane crit. Movement speed is just a bonus
The Bloodthirster POWERS your Infinity Edge because of the +100 Attack damage once you get it stacked. Plus it gives you life steal which helps sustain your life obviously.

So these are your MUST HAVE items on a ranged ad carry such as Ashe
*REMEMBER*
Berserker's Greaves NO BETTER BOOTS THAN THESE FOR ASHE.
Infinity Edge THIS IS YOUR MAIN SOURCE OF DAMAGE.
Phantom Dancer THIS ENHANCES THE CRIT AND THE DAMAGE OUTPUT FROM YOUR Infinity Edge
The Bloodthirster THIS MAKES YOUR Infinity Edge STRONGER PLUS YOU GET LIFE STEAL

Now you have 2 more items to fill and these 2 items depend on your enemy team
*If they are REALLY squishy*
then either build Another the bloodthisterThe Bloodthirster OR Phantom Dancer EITHER ARE GOOD
if the team is really TANKY or has a tank that is screwing you up
Build Last Whisper, Madred's Bloodrazor or The Black Cleaver I would personally choose Last Whisper Because it is the cheapest and offers a TON of armor pen, but it is your choice

Now your 6th item is YOUR Choice however its preferably a Defensive item
The Bloodthirster Gives you even more damage and more lifesteal, what more could you want.

Guardian Angel Gives you armor, magic resist, and a revive. Good if you are your teams only carry.

Phantom Dancer More attack speed and nearly 100% crit, Lots of dps with this one

Warmog's Armor TONS of health from this item, good for being able to take a finales funkeln Finales Funkeln or two.

Banshee's Veil Health, Magic resist, and a shield, Another good option for you

Quicksilver Sash Magic Resist a Cleanse and is Cheap, VERY good item when facing a Malzahar Nether Grasp or a Warwick Infinite Duress

Summoner Spells

Heal - We like to choose Heal as Ashe because if you are caught out by the enemy you can just Heal and Flash away.

Flash - Flash is one of those Summoner Spells that is really strong and can help you get kills or get away from an enemy and deny them a kill.
OTHER SUMMONER SPELLS

Ghost - A nice substitute for Flash. Provides a good way of getting away and chasing enemies. It does that better than Flash, but Flash can be used for more things like stealing buffs. However, if you are just not a fan of Flash then you can us Ghost(funny how most of this part was about Flash).

Ignite - Ignite is a good Summoner Spell for finishing off enemies that are low and for shutting down bug healers like Soraka and Taric.

Exhaust - Provides a good slow. That is really all this does with this build since you haven't taken the mastery point in Summoner's Wrath which reduces the target's defenses when Exhaustis cast on them. You also have a lot of CC already so you don't need the extra slow, but you may get it if you please.

Cleanse - A very good Summoner Spell that counters multiple CCs and can save you in team fights multiple times. This also gives you to build another item that isn't Quicksilver Sash.

Gameplay

Early game:
-The most important part of early game Ashe is CS(creep score) or farm. Farm is essential in order to be useful late game. You may notice in high ELO games and tournaments that kills aren't really happening, and everyone is just farming, because farming is the most reliable gold income. If you aren't doing so well in lane, and your opponents have already taken your tower, you can just stay in lane and farm for days. One minion wave can be worth up to 120 - 350 through the whole game.

TL;DR : Farm for gold, don't worry about kills early game.

Mid game:
-By now, you have either taken their tower, or they, yours. Either way, they have probably started roaming around jungle and mid lane. If you're behind on kills/cs, you should just stay in your lane and farm until you feel you are equal in terms of power level. If you feel you are already equal, however, just follow your enemies, and don't let them 3v1 your mid lane.

Late game:
-Farm whenever you can, even in the jungle.
-Watch map at all times, most players just roam at this time to find kills.
-If your team groups, group up with them, don't have either team initiate and end up with a 4v5
-Stay in the back in teamfights
- Be careful of strong burst/bruiser champions who have a gap closer and can get to you easily, such as Jax Xin Irelia, etc.

Kiting tutorial

Kiting is a technique in which you continue to run, but also attack the enemy as they chase you.
I believe Ashe is the best champion to learn this with, as she can slow with her Frost Shot every time she turns around to attack.

Here is a tutorial of kiting by Awesomefusion, a 2k+ ELO player:

Final tips

As Ashe one common mistake is that people keep their Frost Shot toggled on CONSTANTLY. Do not do that. Only toggle Frost Shot when you are Chasing and are running from an enemy champion.

Do not waste Enchanted Crystal Arrow to escape from a Shaco that is right on top of you and is guaranteed to kill you no matter what. Save it for team fights. Enchanted Crystal Arrow is one of those ultimate's that can completely change the outcome of a team fight for better or for worse.

Don't be hesitant to use Hawkshot to check a bush before you enter or check for a gank, this move can save your life, your team mates, Uncover an enemy team taking Baron/Dragon. It has many uses.

Ashe is also more of a supportive AD carry with her multiple CC and her ability to grant vision in a target area. Just because we call her a supportive AD carry DOES NOT mean that she is not strong or viable.

TIP: When chasing an enemy champion launch Hawkshot a bit in front of them so you don't lose them, maybe even uncover an enemy team mate about to counter gank you.

Volley while this is your bread and butter as Ashe dont over spam it, it will DRAIN your mana and can mess up a gank just because you had no mana to use your Enchanted Crystal Arrow.
