Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
My 2nd build post about Irelia; a tank version this time, as the Summoner Spotlight suggested she could be a lifesteal-tank. It may not be perfect, but here's what I'm going to test out. Any feedback on this would be appreciated.
Bladesurge at rank 1 just to get it, so you can harass a little or last-hit the minions before jumping into a champion fight. After that almost as usual you max out Hiten Style and Equilibrium Strike, taking Transcendent Blades whenever possible and then finishing off Bladesurge.
I was having a little trouble coming up with what I thought would be an appropriate item build; I knew I wanted lifesteal in there but I didn't know whether to go for something that benefit the whole team if they are around you (Stark's) or just a heavy hitting personal lifesteal (Bloodthirster); I went with the team choice, but this can be subbed out for the personal if that's more your style.
Other than that, once you've got all your levels 6 items you're at over 50% Magic Resist and 50% Physical Reduction... so all in all not too shabby, however games don't seem to last until you hit all 6 maximum items, so it could be a little bit of a waste.
I intentionally left out getting the Randuin's quickly as having the spare gold from the Heart could be useful in grabbing the Warden's and Tabi (which don't really need to be subbed for Mercury even in a slow-fest due to Irelia's passive).
Going for a 0/27/3 for Tank Irelia, as there's not too much you need in any tree other than tank, as you're not intentionally going to be doing the nuking. This is purely made for soaking up and avoiding damage. Coupled with her lifesteal from Hiten Style and items, she should be pretty resilient.
Armor *flat* MARKS.
Dodge *flat* SEALS.
Magic Resist *per level* GLYPHS - Can be substituted with Flat Health or Health per Level.
Health *flat* QUINTESSENCES
Cleanse - Nobody likes being debuffed, especially a tank who often is the focus of a lot of incoming spells. Cleanse is useful to shrug off all those debuffs in a heartbeat.
Heal - At higher levels as a tank having or not having heal can turn the tide of a close battle when every enemy champion looks to try and take you down.
There we go, all done for my second Irelia build post, I hope you like it and as I said at the top; all feedback is welcome.
Good luck and have fun,
