Irelia Build Guide by slydunan

Great guide. Always loved Wits End on Irelia, but with this build, it's much more deadlier because you get it faster. I do need to try this with a real team, but this build is viable and practicable.

I'm wondering why Black Cleaver isn't one of the "other items". It's a great item for Irelia in theory and I'd have it as an end game replacement to Wriggle's. It provides 1 more attack per 5 seconds, +55 attack damage, and it reduces the target's armor.

Well, first of all, I'm only gotten to the point where I have to replace Wriggles maybe 2-3 times at most, so I haven't really tested different things.
That being said, this is just theory:
Black cleaver gives nice attack speed and such, but armor pen doesn't synergize that well with mixed damage. It's also purely offensive, so you might be better of going with some more defense. That's why I didn't think that it's important enough to put as other items. But if it works great for you, then by all means use it.

All is uber well explained and I started to pass on Trinity Force and building the Frozen Mallet and all I can say its OMFG. The Wriggles help a lot and this build + your explanations worked pretty well.

This post here pretty much sums up my key problems. The guide is incredibly detailed and well made, props for that, your argument on Frozen Hammer versus Trinity Force is exactly the same as the one i had put for blitzcrank build. Its true however that the slow is unneccesary on irelia due to her kit, and all 3 parts of the triforce, although it is a whopping 4k combined, are all extremely useful on her. Both items work great, its not a problem to sub one for the other, as Hammer offers a ton more tanking ability and a completely guarunteed slow instead of just a very reliable one.

Thornmail is an iffy item in general, i very rarely get it unless the enemy team is completely AD reliant, Irelia is a tanky dps with sustained damage, so it makes more sense to go Randuin's Omen or Frozen Heart. The Thornmail itself might give enemies the hint to completely ignore you because they cant kill you, or suffer too much trying, and turn their head towards your key ad and ap carries, which it is your actual role to support.

lastly, i'm a huge fan of Wriggles Lantern but against some opponenents like Rumble, it really offers nothing and should be avoided. The wards and low cost of the item make it ideal in 90% of situations though.

Upvote regardless, builds are always opinionated, the "how to play this champion" part of a guide is what really matters.

Hi! I haven't read your entire guide yet, but I looked carefully at your "My History" section. It is actually one of the most important parts of this guide. And the funny thing is that I came to the exact same conclusion as you did concerning the GP2-Trinity build. I tried the Wit's End-Wriggle build after spending a lot of times on trashing players building Wit's End on Irelia (WTF Y U NO BUILD SHEEN MORON), and I have to say that it works extremely well.

Your guide is well-written, you give good advice, and most important, your build is cheap and flexible, giving you lots of options after getting the core items.

Like the guide +1 this is a great build very detailed guide the video portions just blew my mind having someone put this much care and dedication.
