I have tried yr build and should say that its awesome!
and if u have (as i have) runes Quint. 1Gper10sec x3, masteries 2Gper10sec, heart of gold and avarice 10Gper10sec + the main 10Gper10sec = 25Gper10sec.!!! its so OP .
And this is the first build in the WHOLE internet which really works good.
but i have changed yr build by one item and then it became overpowered. hexdrinker => angel. cauze buying item which gives u just 30 AD and only 300 MagicSheild ( its nothing when all is lvl 18) isn' enough. so that chage did my irelia unstoppable!

Sorry but i dont understand you cause its balanced. Thats not a tanky Irelia guide its a Off-Tank guide and yes its still a burst guide too cause i want to combine them. If someone wanna play a tank he can pick shen or rammus.
And i think for an enemy team with 1 caster and 4 Ad's i still pick Ninja Tabis.
and i think with 140 Mres is enough. ok with a unbalkanced caster team need some more but there everyone should pick other items

Edit: You Should Try the build and u will see it works with a well tank or good team

to be honest this really isn't offtank, more like burst assassin
always get merc treads, because combined with your passive, cc won`t affect you at all
and if you do get ninja tabi, at least get some dodge runes

anyway, don`t get flat health runes, they`re bad
get mres or something
and if this is offtank, you need mres... a puny 300 magic absorb from hex isn`t NEAR enough to survive the burst of an AP carry

and what surprises me most is that even though the build to me is more of burst assassin, you get all your dmg items at end.

anyways, good luck with updating, but isn`t great as of now

edit - banshees is a decent start, but to be honest i think you need to rethink the entire build

i thnk your right with the magic resist i changed the bloodthirster with the Banshee and after trinity negatron. cause i got no lifesteal anymore i changed my Skill Sequence.
But i think the runes are pretty well some more hp ok in late game its not so well but for early game realy nice .

Hte masteries ok some more exp and mana reg are nice but some cooldown and some crit is nice too but i will try it soon

Im sorry, but I disagree with a lot of things in this build. I wont dv it, but i feel like you can improve this by a lot.

First of all, the skill sequence is okay i suppose, since you are going burst assassin, but hiten style is often understimated on how good it is.

second, your runes. They..... are not the best. Armor pen, sure. Armor, okay. Really?
Flat health glyphs? I'm sorry, but thats a terrible choice. You're better off going with CDR lololol. For glyphs, I think Irelia benefits the most from Mres per level, as that gives you the precious Mres that your build lacks.

Masteries - The fact that you dont take any utility masteries amaze me. If your gonna get offensive, at least finish it. or, just dont. Utility masteries are just too good for Irelia.

your items are interesting. You realize that although you seem kinda tanky, you are not. Late game, you will get bursted down immediately. 200 armor is decent, but you lack so much Mres its not even funny. Any AP carry will destroy you immediately.

Basically, lots of flaws. I'll write a bit more later. gotta go now :/

with warmogs and atmas its gonna be to much tanky and this guide show how to be some assasine and off tank. and Hexdrinker is one of my favorite Items
But i will try it :)

nice guide, but i would consider getting Warmog's Armor then Atma's Impaler instead for Randuin's Omen and Hexdrinker
