This is a LANING guide for Irelia. For your jungling resources, try another build.

Early laning phase:
The basic idea behind this build is FARMING with Irelia's Q, while providing burst damage with W Q E combos to enemy champs. Play her like you would any melee...if you arent going for the kill, don't get yourself hurt too much. Combo and retreat. In - Out style. This is why early game boots are the most important item for her. The ward will help you keep safe, since you will be in the sh*t and short on luck if they come without notice.
Item Goal: Tear of the Goddess, Sheen, Boots 2 (either mercury treads or zerkers boots)

Late laning phase (when the laning gets extended longer than normal):
Keep up the farming and harassing; Same as early laning, but with the potential for more ganks. Make sure to replenish your ward and be prepared.

Mid game:
You want to finish up Trinity force, and convert that tear into a Manamune - This item is a STEAL on Irelia...solving any mana issues you might have spamming your Q constantly, and giving you a hefty AD boots (+75AD endgame from manamune with this build). Finally, get your Ghostblade. If you want, you can buy the Avarice Blade earlier in the match to have it pay for itself, but that's up to you.

Your role is going to be as a support DPS/Assassin. You want a strong initiator on your team to shake up the battlefield and get the enemies spread out. Your job is to burstfire on any carries / support that are vulnerable. Popping Ghostblade should assure you the speed and atk spd to net kills.

Late Game:
You want to beef up your damage with either Black Cleaver OR The Bloodthirster, your pick. If you need the extra armor pen, Cleaver, otherwise, Bloodthirster. Finally, you will want some form of damage and CC mitigation. For a more magic dmg / CC team, go with Banshees Veil. For a more Physical DPS / Tanky lineup, go with Randuins Omen. You will just have to decide if you need the defensive item earlier or later than the damage item. Some games, you might be forced to go defensive as your fourth item even. You will just have to be the judge on a game by game basis.
