Introduction

Hello guys, I am Animporos7 and this is my first ever Mobafire Guide. My native language is not English so I am sorry if you find any mistakes throughout the guide



This guide is about my favourite champion Irelia as you can see. For me, Irelia is one of the best champions in the League, due to the fact that she can be an initiator, a tank and a DPSer at the same time, fullfiling each succesfully

Irelia was the first ever champion I bought with RP, and even though most of my friends told me she was a waste, I gave her a try and loved her from the very first game. She has been my main champion from then on.

Summoner Spells



Ghost helps Irelia in a number of ways. First of all, it synergizes with Ionian Fervor much better than Flash does in my opinion, because the CC reduction allows you to sprint for longer distances. Moreover, I find it usefull due to the fact that you can stick like glue to the enemy carry with it.



Ignite, as A Chubby Baby said, helps Irelia get these kills she needs to scale smoothly into late game. It is most usefulll when your skills are on cooldown and your opponent is getting away with 100 HP. Ignite that b**tard!!



Flash is the best spell in the game in my opinion. It has so many uses, like getting next to your enemy for the last hit or getting over a wall when 5 enemies are on your tail. A very versatile spell. Get it if you are not getting Ghost and when jungling to surprise your victims.



Exhaust can prove very usefull both in 1v1 situations and teamfights. Use exhaust on that Brand or that Vayne and watch them cry as they merely touch you and your team. It also comes with an Armor and Magic resist reduction if you use Summoner's Wrath , so you will be hitting them harder while it lasts

Greater Mark of Desolation helps Bladesurge and Transcendent Blades much better than Greater Mark of Attack Damage due to the fact that these skills deal physical damage, thus Armor Penetration is calculated to the damage output. The only reason Greater Mark of Attack Damage could be used is that it could help farming with auto attacks.

Greater Seal of Armor are self-explanatory runes in my opinion. Irelia is a solo top champion, so most of the times she will be against AD champions. These runes will help her when fighting, give sustain and also prevent some not wanted minion damage

Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist is the way to go on Glyphs, and the reason I prefer these over Greater Glyph of Magic Resist is because you will not be facing heavy AP champions untill you leave your lane at around levels 13-15, so with Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist you will have a much better Magic Resist bonus when you will need it most.

Greater Quintessence of Endurance boost your health MASSIVELY and when going as an offtank with Irelia you will be looking for health, apart from armor and magic resist. These runes will give you enough health which will also boost your damage through Atma's Impaler. Otherwise go with Greater Quintessence of Vitality

Greater Mark of Attack Speed is used in this build because you will be looking to have your Wit's End stacks always high because they give you a magic resist bonus. Also help with extra damage from Hiten Style

Greater Seal of Endurance I go with these runes because as a tank you will be looking to stack Armor and Magic resist through items because you dont have an in-build Armor or Magic resist buff like Leona's Eclipse or Rammus' Defensive Ball Curl, and with these runes you take care of your health as well. I don't prefer Greater Seal of Vitality because they give you a mere 175 health bonus at level 18 and I can find these good only on Vladimir. They will also boost your damage A LOT through Atma's Impaler

Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist here as well for the same reason as in the Balanced Build

Greater Quintessence of Endurance I get these here as well because they boost your HP much more than it looks like. This runepage plus Juggernaut mastery give Irelia a MASSIVE 12% HP boost. Given Irelia's base health at level 18 is 2076 + 1708 health from the Tanky build = 3784 health x 12% = 4238 Health. Furthermore, given that you have Atma's Impaler, you receive a bonus 64 attack damage which is a lot for how tanky you are.

Greater Mark of Desolation like in the Balanced Build, you get these because the damage from Bladesurge and Transcendent Blades will scale better into late game.

Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist are your standard Glyphs.

Greater Quintessence of Desolation Same as the Greater Mark of Desolation, you get these for an enormous 31 (counting Sunder as well) Flat Armor Penetration from level 1 which is always helpfull.

Greater Mark of Desolation I get these to clear the camps faster. Remember that jungle creeps have 10 Armor and these runes will reduce it to 0, making you clear the jungle camps much faster.

Greater Seal of Armor These runes will block some of the damage you will take from the jungle creeps, giving you important sustain. They will also block unnessescary minion damage when ganking lanes.

Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist They are the standard.

Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed because Irelia is not the fastest moving champion, these runes will improve your ganking speed quite a lot.

In the offense tree, you take Butcher to increase Irelia's farming ability. Alacrity is taken so that we can use Weapon Expertise . Havoc and Sunder are taken in order to maximise her damage output.

In defense, you take Resistance and Hardiness to improve your overall sustainability, plus Durability and Veteran's Scars to boost your HP.

When going tanky, consider getting every defensive increase you can. Juggernaut synergizes well with the according runepage when Initiator and Honor Guard allow you to be a real beast when initiating.

In the offense tree take standard masteries for tanky AD.

When jungling as Irelia, take Alacrity and Weapon Expertise as well as Butcher in offense to increase your jungling speed.

In defense, get Tough Skin , Resistance , Summoner's Resolve and Bladed Armor to help you with your jungling. Initiator helps a lot when ganking while Enlightenment reduces your cooldowns making jungling a breeze.

SPACE Irelia gains Crowd Control Reduction based on the number of nearby champions, up to 3 champions and up to 40% CC Reduction
  • You must have vision of the enemy champion to get the CC Reduction
  • Quite a big range (1200)
  • Helpfull when initiating teamfights, reduces any form of CC thrown at you almost to zero combined with Mercury's Treads



SPACE Irelia dashes to enemy target dealing physical damage, aplying on-hit effects. The cooldown of this skill refreshes and refunds 35 mana every time it kills its target.
  • Irelia's main farming skill, other than autoattacking
  • Irelia's initiating and chasing tool
  • Note that this skill applies on-hit effects such as Sheen, Phage or Frozen Mallet as well as Wit's End and Armor Penetration
  • If your target is far away, you can use this skill on a nearby low-hp minion, killing it and then again on your target.
  • Using the same technique as mentioned above, you can use Bladesurge when being chased to quickly get away.



SPACE Passive: Irelia restores health with each basic attack
Active: Irelia doubles the amount of health restored as well as dealing bonus true damage on every basic attack.
  • Synergizes well with Attack Speed
  • True damage is not reduced by armor or magic resist, so you deal the exact damage that is shown
  • Irelia's sustain in lane and jungle



SPACE Irelia strikes her enemy dealing magic damage and slowing her target. If her target has a higher HP percentage than her. Equilibrium Strike stuns instead.



SPACE Irelia summons 4 blades that can be thrown at her enemies. Each blade deals physical damage to each enemy it passes through, healing Irelia a percentage of the damage dealt.
  • Heals 25% of damage dealt against champions and 10% of damage dealt to minions
  • Use this skill to farm big minion waves. Even after the latest nerf, cooldown won't be a problem
  • Great skill for finishing off opponents at a long range
  • Can be used to heal after a long fight

On the balanced build you look to max out Hiten Stlye first because other than some great damage it gives you enough sustain through its active.

Transcendent Blades on levels 6-11-16. Irelia must take this skill whenever possible, as all champions do.

Then, look to max out Bladesurge over Equilibrium Strike for better farming

When going tanky, max out Hiten Style and Equilibrium Strike first because you need sustain and Crowd Control over damage.

A point in Bladesurge is enough to farm minions in the lane.

As a Attack Damage DPSer, Irelia must max out her damage tools, Hiten Style and Bladesurge first.

Take an early point in Equilibrium Strike because it offers great utility to coordinate ganks or escape when you get ganked.

As a jungler, Irelia must get Hiten Style first for sustain in the jungle, and then Bladesurge for a better clearing time.

Then max out Equilibrium Strike and Hiten Style for better Crowd Control when ganking and for more sustain in the jungle. One point in Bladesurge is enough.

Starting Items











SPACE Regrowth Pendant gives Irelia all the sustain she needs on lane and can be udgraded to Philosopher's Stone later. Start with it if you feel that you would face a farmer top like Nasus or a medium damage champion.

Starting with Ruby Crystal is pretty unsafe to be honest, but you can go with this path if you are looking to get an early Phage or an early Heart of Gold. Be carefull though because you will have no Health Potion so yous sustain is restrained


Boots of Speed + 3 Health Potions is the safest way to go most of the times. You have three pots which combined with Hiten Style will let you stay on lane forever.

A tottaly situational starting item, you could get Null-Magic Mantle if you are laning against Mordekaiser, Kennen, Kayle, Rumble, Singed or Vladimir and some times against [Warwick]]. You get pretty good sustain through the 2 Health Potions and the bonus Magic Resist comes in handy.

Get Cloth Armor if you are jungling or going top against a heavy AD champion like Garen, Pantheon, Renekton or Riven. The 5 Health Potions that come with it are godsent if you want to stay in lane and farm forever.



First Recall


Philosopher's Stone












SPACE A pretty standard choice for Irelia, Philosopher's Stone is very helpfull not only because of the increased gold income, but it also gives you mana regenaration which will make farming with Bladesurge and Transcendent Blades much more potent.

You can get Heart of Gold early to boost your gold income as well as a pretty nice 200 bonus health. Later on, try making this into a Randuin's Omen.


Mercury's Treads I think are the best boots in the game. The bonuses they offer for their price are way too good not to get them. Try getting this item as soon as possible because it synergizes well with Ionian Fervor

Go for this item if you are going with the DPS build, and turn it later into a Youmuu's Ghostblade. The critical strike chance that comes with this helps with farming and improves your damage output slightly.

You can get an early Phage for a number of reasons. First of all, it is a great item considering its cost, because apart from health and damage, it comes up with a passive that has a chance to slow your enemies. Also, if you get this early, you can rush Trinity Force for reasons I will explain below.

If you start with Cloth Armor, consider getting Ninja Tabi. Its passive comes in handy when facing an AD heavy team comp. Also these boots are pretty cheap, thus you will have more money to make your core items.

Wriggle's Lantern can be very usefull when going solo top with Irelia. It makes farming a breeze with its passive, gives you sustain through lifesteal and a ward every 3 minutes to avoid being ganked. Get this if you started with Cloth Armor and you want to farm a lot. When jungling always get it for faster clearing time and helping other lanes with the ward.



Core Items



Trinity Force - Worth it or not



Here is a brief discussion on whether Trinity Force is worth it or not on Irelia. First things first, I have heard people say that it is not cost effective on her. I believe that their statement is invalid, due to the following facts:
  • Bladesurge procs the on-hit effects from Phage and Sheen
  • Hiten Style works well with the increased Attack Speed.
  • Each Transcendent Blades fired procs Sheen, giving you bonus attack damage on 4 instances when timed right
  • The bonus movement speed helps with chasing and initiating
  • The bonus mana provided from Sheen takes care of your early game mana issues.


Many people might think that rushing Trinity Force is also bad. I believe that this absolutely depends on the kind of the player, the enemy team and the player's farm.
Most of the times rushing Trinity Force can prove a great choice, but its also risky. If your team is not doing good and the enemy team gets kills, consider going tanky and skip Trinity Force. If you manage to have 200 minions at the 20 minute mark, go for Trinity Force for a major advantage over your enemy. If you are the kind of tanky DPS player, go for it as well.

tl;dr

Irelia benefits a lot from Trinity Force but it is not always the best way to go.



By mid game, as Irelia you should have farmed enough to get one or two of these items. With them, you will be able to scale better into late game, where your role is mostly a tanky initiator. For now, you should look getting some damage items to help you with killing your targets.

















SPACE Trinity Force is the best way to go I believe, because of the benefits I listed above. Cost might be a problem, but well, you are Irelia, and an Irelia with no money is kinda useless.

You can get Guardian Angel as part of your core, but try to pair it with another item like a Phage or a Wit's End because to be honest a Guardian Angel is of no use if the enemy has no reason to focus you.

Getting a Wit's End in your core is what I fully recommend because it will let you to just dominate the mid game. Pair it with a Phage for maximum effectiveness, because the bonus attack speed will help the slow trigger more often.

Take Hexdrinker if something like that "fcking Cassio fed Karthus, omg qq" is happening in your game. If the enemy AP is getting fed and deals damage, not only the magic resist that this item comes with will help, but also the passive shield will protect you.

Youmuu's Ghostblade is a great choice for Irelia if you want to play as a DPS. However, if your team doesn't have a champion who is a true tank (like Rammus jungle or Alistar bot), never go for this item as you should focus on tankyness over damage.

Frozen Mallet can be taken as a replacement for Trinity Force. Never get these two items together unless you are desperate, as it is a waste of money since both give you slow from the Phage and slows don't stack. Can be taken when you are your team's main tank.

If you are your team's main tank, you should consider investing in an Aegis of the Legion, to make your team more durable. You can also get this item when jungling, so that when ganking, you give bonuses to your teammates, making the gank more potent.



Late Game


When late game emerges, your main goal is to initiate teamfights, focus the carry and either prevent it from dealing damage, or take it down on your own letting your team clean up the rest. Your passive should take care of any CC thrown at you so you don't need to worry















SPACE Get Force of Nature if the enemy team is AP Heavy and you can no longer tank their damage. Gives a nice moovement speed boost and health regeneration bonus which scales off of your own HP, so the more you have the more you will regenerate.

Best anti-carry item in my opinion, the Randuin's Omen comes with all you need to take down the enemy carry and preventing it from dealing damage. The active itself cripples the carry's attack speed making it almost impossible for it to beat you or to deal any damage at all (unless it is Corki). Get it immediately after your core on most of your builds.

As an initiator, Irelia thrives in danger, so what can be better than a Maw of Malmortius? Made from the Hexdrinker, this item comes with an interesting passive, which gives you attack damage according to your missing HP like Dr. Mundo's Masochism.
Pair it with Guardian Angel and/or Force of Nature for maximum results.

Warmog's Armor is the biggest health boosting item in the game, giving you 1270 health on its own when fully stacked. Usefull on Irelia for the fact that she gets most of the time Atma's Impaler so she boosts both her survivability and damage through this item.

Try grabbing Atma's Impaler right after Warmog's Armor. The "Atmogs" as they are used to be called work wonders on Irelia, since she will be tanky but lethal. I really look getting it on most of my games.

Back when I started playing Irelia, I used to get this as my last item and to be honest I still like it. With Atma's Impaler, Trinity Force and Infinity Edge you get around 60% cirtical chance. Try using it to your advantage and proc Sheen as well for 800 critical damage from an 3.5K hp champion!! OP :D



Viable Item Choices







Shurelya's Reverie











SPACE You can get Frozen Heart when jungling with Irelia. Start building the item with Glacial Shroud because it will help your jungling, as it gives you cooldown reduction, mana and armor, what a jungler needs. However, dont get this and Randuin's Omen, its practically the same items, Attack Speed debuff.

Shurelya's Reverie is another extremely situational item. Consider getting this when going tank as it helps your team follow on with your initiation. It is also something you can convert your Philly Stone into.

I have seen a couple of Irelias lately with Boots of Swiftness and thought of getting it in my guide. I am not a fan of this item generally, as the boost it offers is too litle for its price. Only get this when jungling and want to move faster from jungle to lane.

Sunfire Cape can be gotten as a replacement for Randuin's Omen, if you want to stack more HP than armor. The DPS it deals is also nice, since you spend most of your time around 5 enemies in teamfights.

As an alternative for Force of Nature, you can get Banshee's Veil. It offers slightly less Magic Resist but it compensates you with a spell blocking shield ever 45 seconds. Get it when enemy team has many stuns and think your passive and Merc's aren't enough.

Against a team stacking armor, I would recommend getting Last Whisper instead of Youmuu's Ghostblade for the simple reason it offers you Percentage Armor Penetration. Flat Armor Penetration is not enough when the enemy gets around 170 armor, so, go for Last Whisper.

Thornmail is an item you should only get when their team is like Sion top, Talon mid, Blitzcrank- Graves bot and Tryndamere jungle. Really i think 100 armor on a build already focused around Armor and Magic Resist is way to much to get.

Akali never was a problem for solo top characters and she will not be a problem for Irelia. She can't outfarm you, out-sustain you or outdamage you. Most of the time she will be hiding in her Twilight Shroud waiting to farm. Don't feed her and you will be fine.

Cho'Gath is going to give you a hard time if you are not carefull. He can spam the hell out of you and he will never run out of mana thanks to Carnivore. He can farm much easier than you and if you try to trade with him, he can just kill some minions to regain health. However, he is susceptible to ganking, so call your jungler to shut him down early. Starting with Null-Magic Mantle or Boots of Speed would be recommended.

One of the newest champions in the League, and an overpowered champion in my opinion, Darius can totally DESTROY you if you are not carefull. His damage is way to much for how tanky he is. However, his one drawback, is lack of sustain in lane. Try taking advantage of this by trading with him when Decimate is on cooldown. Try to make him miss it and you can fight him as long as it is on cooldown. WARNING: Dont even think about fighting him post 6, he will just ANIHILLATE you.

This is a match-up that is decided on details. Dr. Mundo might be a slightly better farmer than you, but when fighting, he relies heavily on hitting his Infected Cleavers. If you make him miss them, he isn't much of a trouble. I could well say that he can't kill you, but you can't kill him either. Much like Cho'Gath he is a bit more difficult to gank, but a well co-ordinated gank can take him down. When he gets Sadism, be sure you have Ignite to fight him, since that will cripple his regeneration.

Fiora is a champion who heavily relies on her Attack Damage to hurt people. Irelia is one of the champions that can shut her down on the top lane, since she has no sustain. Just be carefull when duelling with her because her Riposte can hurt. If she gets Blade Waltz and tries to kill you, simply bait her to your turret and stun her when her ultimate ends. Her lack of an escape mechanism makes her easy to gank as well.

This fish is a son of a b*tch. Don't even think fighting him 1v1 he will just kill you. He shuts down your sustain thanks to Seastone Trident, and when you try to gank him he just jumps all over the place with Playful / Trickster. Try to play this lane as safely as possible and farm as much as you can.

Most Galio players opt for the mid lane, but in case you meet him on top, you need not worry. Sooner or later he will run out of mana and he will not be able to hurt you. Furthermore, Galio users stack Magic Resist, so you will have no problem trading with him. Try doing so while his Bulwark is on cooldown. I would suggest farming this lane as much as you can and tell your jungler to gank other lanes since Galio isn't that easy to gank.

Garen, a.k.a Mr. Spin is a pain in your lovely arse. He is more tanky than you, he is manaless making him extremely annoying sometimes, he has more sustain than you do and at level 6 he can just execute you. On top of it all, his Judgment hits you like a truck. Try avoid fights with him and only farm.

Gangplank can be a better farmer than you, and also has these annoying oranges with Remove Scurvy that heal him and remove debuffs. He is pretty hard to duel and to gank and Parrrley can hurt, however when he runs out of mana he doesn't pose a threat anymore. Farm as much as you can and try to trade him when his Remove Scurvy is on cooldown, so that he cant cleanse your Equilibrium Strike.

If Irelia is the queen of solo top, then the king if we could name one is Jarvan IV. This guy not only looks badass, but also beats some ***es. Your ultimate counter. This champion beats the hell out of you unless you fight him extremely smartly. A smart Jax player will rush Phage and Ninja Tabi, making it extremely hard for you to fight him. After level 6 he can just dominate you with his new Grandmaster's Might. If you want to fight him do so in the early levels. Watch out for his Counter Strike and try to fight him when it is on cooldown. Don't activate Hiten Style if he is using Counter Strike becasue you will lose a lot of damage

I still have not fought vs Jayce as Irelia yet, but playing as Jayce I think I can say that Irelia wins this lane. Sure, Jayce's damage is pretty high and he can go ranged, but he lacks sustain, so after some trades with Irelia he will be forced either to recall or play defensively.

Solo top Kayle is increasing in popularity lately and the reason is quite obvious. Righteous Fury lets her farm minions with spectacular ease and harassing the enemy at the same time. However when it is on cooldown, push your advantage and farm as much as you can. Watch out for enemy ganks because Reckoning can help taking you down very fast. Both Irelia and Kayle have equal chances of winning the lane.

He can do Sonic Wave / Resonating Strike and then Safeguard / Iron Will back out and you can just do nothing about it. Called your jungler for gank?? No problem: Tempest / Cripple and Safeguard / Iron Will out of harms way. No Flash wasted (only your jungler's) no nothing. Really annoying opponent.

The "rock solid" solo top, Malphite can counter and be countered by Irelia. A smart Malphite will make you waste Hiten Style, either by harassing you and forcing you to use it on minions or simply poke you with Seismic Shard when you try to approach him, leaving you with nothing but your autoattacks hitting his armor. However, if you take the fight to him before activating Hiten Style, you can actually deal some damage to him. Don't fight him after 6 because he gets really dangerous with Unstoppable Force.

MORDE ES NUMERO UNO HUEUEUEUEUEUEUE... Just kidding. Mordekaiser is no longer #1 because as Irelia you can give him a pretty bad time. Just wait till his Siphon of Destruction (\m/ !MEGADETH! \m/) and Mace of Spades are on cooldown and then take the fight to him. Hiten Style, Equilibrium Strike and Bladesurge will make short work of Iron Man, allowing you to hit straight to his hitpoint. However act quickly because his spells are on low cooldown. Dont fight him either after 6 because Children of the Grave will unexpectedly heal him, making you lose the fight most of the times.

Most Nasus players will look not to miss a single minion. I have even come across a Nasus player that was taking damage just to get a single minion. Of course you must not let him farm otherwise he will be 2-shooting your squishies later on with Siphoning Strike. Although this might be hard because his Wither just stops you in place after a while, after getting Transcendent Blades you can trade fully with him, making him either ignore you and focus on the minions but take the damage, or fight you and losing some important farm.

A champion that has risen in popularity lately, AD Offtank Nidalee can be a pretty solid solo top champion. Although I have never faced one, I guess she must be weak untill she gets Aspect Of The Cougar, only having enough sustain through her Primal Surge / Swipe. Most of the time she will be farming through the brush so that she has her passive when needed. Try to push your advantage at early levels when she is still weak but dont try dueling her after 6.

This is a very debatable matchup. Much like Malphite, Olaf counters and can be countered by you. There have been times I have countered Olaf hard and others that he completely dominated me. Try to avoid being hit by too many Undertows and keep him away from grabbing his axe. Try fighting him if you know that Vicious Strikes is on cooldown because his damage will be reduced dramaticaly. Olaf is also easy to gank pre 6 so call your jungler to shut him down early. However, care for Reckless Swing because it hits a lot more than Hiten Style early on.

A very annoying champion early on because of his Spear Shot and Aegis Protection, he can give you a hard time. Try soaking up his damage by starting with Cloth Armor and eventually make him starve of mana. He is also very susceptible to ganks so try getting him shut down early and he will be useless for the rest of the game.

Unlike his brother Nasus, Renekton is not soo farm-reliable. He has a kit that is exceptional for early trades. Most Renekton players will do: Slice and Dice, Ruthless Predator, Cull the Meek and Slice and Dice back out, dealing you pretty high damage and taking a little. There is little chance that you can fight this guy 1v1, but i dont think he can kill you either. Renekton is not easy to gank either, so try farming this lane and dont feed the croco!

Much like Renekton, Riven's kit allows her to trade with you with little risk. She has slightly better damage than Renekton which makes her a bit more dangerous. Rumble is definately the most annoying champion you can face on the solo lane. He is tanky, but his Flamespitter deals s**tloads of damage to you. Try fighting him however when it is on cooldown since it is his only high damaging spell early on. Don't try ganking him because he can just kite both you and your jungler with Electro-Harpoon. Consider investing in magic resistance so that you will not be forced to recall and lose farm.

Last time Irelia got nerfed (I think on the Nautilus patch, Shen got a HUGE buff that he ended up being either insta-banned or picked. The reason for this is that since then he is tanky, has sustain and deals pretty decent damage. However, Irelia still outsustains Shen and can soak up his damage early on. It is a lane no champion can win however since both deal moderate damage and are pretty tanky. The only chance Shen has to beat you is calling his jungler for ganks, since his Shadow Dash can keep you in place.

Shyvana

Although mostly seen in the jungle, Shyvana is a pretty solid solo top champion as well. Her Burnout helps her both farming creeps easily and getting away from tight situations. However, she cant duel you due to her lack of damage early on. Try forcing her to either fight you or avoid you, making her lose valuable farm. Also, she lacks sustain so I guess this would be a pretty easy lane for Irelia.

The ultimate troll champion, who deals damage by....running around -.-'. Singed is sure to give you a hard time top. His Poison Trail deals good damage and keeps you away from minions, leaving you underfarmed. What's more? You can't fight him because he will just Fling you and start running. One more thing to note is that Mega Adhesive's slow is not reduced by your Ionian Fervor, so you get slowed for the entire duration. Once he gets Insanity Potion he can just as well towerdive you. Call in for ganks as many times as possible to force him recall so that you can have some farm, because with Singed on the lane things are hard.

Sion is a champion who relies on farm to be effective. Once he gets some stacks on his Enrage he is very tough to beat. However, on early levels he is easy to beat. He lacks sustain and if you can keep him away from the minions, he will be useless for most of the game. However, when he gets his ultimate, dont even think about fighting him, unless you have Exhaust or Ignite. He is also easy to gank so give it a chance with your jugnler.

A rarely seen champion, Trundle is mainly a jungler, but as a solo top he is pretty decent. Once he manages to get Ninja Tabi and Wriggle's Lantern he is kind of unbeatable. He is ungankable thanks to one of the best crowd control effects in the game in my opinion, Pillar of Filth. He also has Contaminate, which makes him move faster and reduces CC thrown at him. However, Trundle can't counter you, because he lacks early game damage. I can see this lane farming all day, and the junglers making the difference.

The crit king, Tryndamere is merely seen in ranked games any more, either because he is banned, or because he is very easy to counter. Tryndamere's only form of sustain in lane comes from Bloodlust, so if you manage to keep him away from minions, he will never be able to heal. Another champion mostly seen in the jungle, Udyr is exceptional at duelling with his enemies in solo lane. Phoenix Stance will safely damage you from a distance, Turtle Stance gives him enough sustain, Tiger Stance kicks your *ss pretty badly, and Bear Stance will give him a clean escape when ganked. However, when he changes stances, there is a brief moment when you can take advantage because all his skills go on cooldown. I honestly don't believe that Udyr can kill you but neither can you.

This champion, although mostly seen as an AD carry does exceptionaly well on solo lane. First of all his range allows him to harass you safelly. Zaun-Touched Bolt Augmenter will make sure that you will not hurt him and his Noxian Corrosive Charge will shred down your armor. Acid Hunter combined with Terror Capacitor finally are the most annoying things on this deformed spider, as they are spammable. Try ganking him with your jungler a lot and farm as much as you can.

Although I believe that Xin Zhao should be jungling, if you face him top he is easy to take down. Your sustain beats his by far, and his HP is not his strongest part. After the remake of his passive, you should look buying Cloth Armor in order to face him. Typically an easy lane for Irelia. Also he is pretty easy to gank since he has no form of escape.

Early Game



As most solo top champions, Irelia's main goal is to have very high farm by the end of early game. As Irelia, early game ends for you at about the twenty minute mark. You should look to have a good creep score till then, 150 is fine. If possible, nail some early game kills so that you scale better later.

Here are some champions you can land a kill on:
