Introduction

So this is my build I've been testing and me and my friend (Who played Vayne) nearly won a Twisted Treeline 2v3 as our third never came on at the end I had 10-2-11 with a 5 killing sprea score and 2 in largest multi kill.
Now you might be thinking "Psh what a noob" but I want it noted I had NEVER played that char before that, so I had no clue what I was doing.
I'd say it's fairly good for someone who havent played the char before.
Anyway let's get on with it shall we?

Pros / Cons

Pros:
Good Survivability Start-Mid Game. (If played right)
Near Immortality Mid-End Game .(If played right)
Good Damage Start-End Game.
Good Jungler/Solo Early-End Game. (If played right, once you get your first Bilgewater Cutlass as you can solo the dragon most likely)
Good Teamplay Start-End Game.

Cons:
Most likely to be target for gang ganks. Early-End Game.
More squishier the less the enemies are if you face someone with a CC Early-End Game.

Runes

The runes I've chosen is what I use my self, I'm sure there are better choises but as I havent tried anything yet I cant say it's the best but it got the job done.
But let's face it for an assassin Armor Penetration is quite good, especially against thos pesky tanks ;)
The armor is so you your self dont take too much damage obviously.
The Cooldown Reduction is useful simply cause well, it's shorter cooldowns on everything I usually get my ulti off cd between each fight, I'll explain it's usefullness with this build in a moment.

Masteries

Now the masteries is actually an almoast direct copy of another guy with a tiny change simply cause I dont use Ghost, I use Flash and Exhaus, I'll get to thos later.
Now the only alternative I could suggest is you can sacrifice one in Strength of Spirit for +1 in Cripple to make them lose armor and magic resist and be more open to your attacks for a few seconds and as we all know even a second can be matter of life and death in this game, yes I'm looking at you Cho'gath!
Anyway, think that's all in Masteries :)

Items

Well I call this Irelia the Undying as it stacks Lifesteal and Spell Vamp but also cause it gives Attack Damage and Ability Power wich increases damage you do wich increases the heal.
I threw in a Phantom Dancer to increase the speed of wich you hit and giving a higher chance of crits and a pair of Mercury's Treads as their Tenacity stacks with your passive making it near impossible to hold you down if they go all against you (Wich is very likely when you start pwning).
I'll explain how this comes in handy in the next chapter.

Side Note:
If you want another alternative you can just go for Bloodthirsters instead of Hextech Gunblades BUT that will reduce damage on two other moves.

Skill Sequence

Here we go, the good part!
Blade Surge allows you to jump fleeing enemies or from the bushes, it also have a 20/50/80/110/140(+1 for every Attack Damage you have) this makes Hextech Gunblade good for this move, increasing it's damage in addition it also heals you.
Then we go for Equilibrium Strike wich can do one of two things, if you have more health in % than your enemy you slow them by 60% for 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 second or if you have less % health you stun them for the same amount of time in addition to doing 80/130/180/230/280(+50% of your total Ability Power) wich also makes Hextech Gunblade good for this move, increasing it's damage in addition it also heals you.
Then we got the Ulti, Transcendent Blades (My personal favorite move in all of LoL so far)
This move makes Irelia summon 4 spirit blades wich you fling at enemies, dealing 80/120/160(+0.6 for every Attack Damage you have) & (+50% of your total Ability Power) this once again makes Hextech Gunblade a great choise for the extra damage to both parts in addition to heal you from the gunblades but also in it self it has a heal 25% of the damage to Champions and 10% of the damage to Minions heals you.
A tip for when using this move especially if you're fleeing is to click to move somewhere safe, let's say your base and as you're runing you aim your mouse at the enemies and fling your blades as they go where ever your mouse is hovering.
This have at many times turned the tides in a battle for me as it heals me so much with the gunblades, allowing me to then jump them with Blade Surge quickly followed by a Equilibrium Strike to (most likely as you're more hurt than them) stun them and gives you a few seconds to hit them wich heals you further and then kill them.

Summoner Spells

Flash is always a Summoner Spell I go with, never go without it as it's great not only for catching up with fleeing enemies but also to flee your self if you've mastered the wall flashing.

I usually go with Exhaust as second mainly cause then I can do Blade Surge, Equilibrium Strike to either stun or slow enemies for 1-2 seconds then as it's about to wear off I place Exhaust giving them a long time being slowed and hopefully long enough for you to kill them.

You can ofcours go with other summoner spells, Ignite is good if they manage to get out of range or in behind a tower.

Creeping / Jungling

As mentioned above, once you get your first Bilgewater Cutlas you're pretty much good for Creep / Jungle farming if you know what you're doing obviously. Srategy, tips and tactics? What's that? Can you eat it? No seriously, just open with Blade Surge then do a Equilibrium Strike, then you're pretty much gold. If you fight many Creeps dont hesitate to blow your Ulti, the cooldown is so short it's worth it.

Team Work

Works very well with people who have CC as you can take turns in CCing the enemies.
You can also dive in at the last moment if you're fast enough and save the life of a friend with Blade Surge and Equilibrium Strike's Stun/Slow.

Farming

Best way to farm gold and experience with this build is to kill enemy Champions, shouldnt be too hard.
After that comes Creep farming with your Ulti.
Or if you are in a pickle and have less items and/or the enemies pop out on you from nowhere while farming Creeps you can just head into the jungle and farm there.

Summary

All in all Irelia is a great character her self heals are just nuts and it just puts a smile on my face when I can go 1v3 and come out alive. Just dont hesitate to attack even if you have less health cause then you just stun them with Equilibrium Strike wich is always a good thing.
