Hello! As many know I am new to MobaFire and would like to share this guide with you! I play Tristana almost non-stop and while I have no outstanding games with this build I think it is a good way to start plying Tristana. you may notice that you disagree with things that I say but please give the build, at least, a try. please ignore the lack of capital letters at the start of sentences.

-prone to be focused
-BAD AT DOMINION(if you were looking for a dominion carry look elsewhere)
So with my runes you will see I have a lot of armor pen. I take both Greater Marks of Desolaton and Greater Quintessence of Desolation. these help me with the early game. squish champions will not have the health to keep on lane if you can keep a good harass.
greater crit damage seals help to cause as much damage on my 50% crit chance. it stacks with the Infinity Edge (IE) so you deal approximately 257%damage for crits. the extra 7 ends up with the ability to get kills. it isnt much but it can do lots of damage.
I will concede my point agent Wayne3100. the cool down realy does help. it can give you a quick escape:P
RUNES TO CONSIDER
ARMOR: you should not need this if you play with harass only. Ill go into more details later in the build as to what that means. also it does block some damage but with the regrowth pendent you gain that back fairly quickly.
Mana Regen: you might need these if you use your Explosive Shot too much. philosophers stone should take care of this problem
Attack Damage: you can take this but the armor penetration is more useful, it lets you hit harder even if you have no damage items.
AP: NOOOOOOOOOOOO. DO NOT TAKE ANY ABILITY POWER RUNES! ABILITY POWER DOES NOT DO AS MUCH FOR TRISTANA AS ATTACK DAMAGE OR ARMOR PENETRATION.
So i have listed Teleport as my first summoner ability. As I state at the end of the guide, this build is more geared toward killing towers, not necessarily champions. so when your team can hold them off at your turret you can port to a wave and do one or two things. 1) you can kill a push wave, getting gold in the process or you can 2)kill a turret. remember turrets help feed your entire team.
You should take exhaust because of 2 reasons. 1) you slow them down, this can allow you to catch up or flee from an enemy. 2)it reduces the amount of damage that the target deals by 70% physical attacks or 35% of abilities or items. this can win you a fight and get you a kill.
Other Summoner skills
Flash- According to riot they will be nerfing flash come season 2 with a smaller range and an increased cool down. it may still be viable but teleport is a safer choice for now.
heal-this is just a bad choice. you do not need the extra health it gives you.
Standard 21/0/9 with a twist. take the cool down reduction instead of ability power. it will allow you to escape easier. I will talk more about this a little later.
Lane and Skill use
so by now you are wondering what I mean when I say play with harass only. If you look at tristana's passive it increases your range as you level. to put this into perspective at level 12 you have a greater range than Caitlin, at level 3 you are a normal range hero. level 5 you can out distance Ashe. so as you get your start farm, which can count as harass against melee champions because of explosive shot, you are increasing your range.
so when they get into range shoot them with your basic attack. at low levels your explosive shot works better because it keeps them from healing the damage back. whatever you do, do not engage unless they have 200 health or less. It may seem like a good idea at the time but it is not. many champions can still kill you with burst if they have much more than 200 health. also wait for level 2 to go in for the kill.
the rocket jump will put them at very low health and explosive shot will keep them from escaping. land some basic attacks in and you got yourself a kill. rinse repeat until you are level 6.
At level 6 you have your ultimate and you can go in when they have less health. around 400health will guarantee you a kill.
NOW THE PART YOU SKIPPED TO
So start out and grab the regrowth pendent and head to lane. this will keep you on lane hopefully. when you can port back and finish your philosopher’s stone.
try to stay on lane for as long as possible or until you kill your lane opponents. port back and grab your boots.
next comes Infinity Edge this is your first major item and your most important.
Grab your The Bloodthirster when you can. this is for the survivability.
The rest of the items are Purely situational. at the time I made this build Karthus was my main killer(stupid ultimite) so I got the banshees veil to counter the ult. just pick what you seem to die by and get resistance. DONT GET AP!!!
Other items to consider-
IE: getting another will bring you up to almost 100% crypt chance but it is costly
Youmuu's Ghostblade- This item is ok but it gives you too little to really take up a slot. the attack speed is unnecessary because of your q skill and you have 2 escapes so the move speed is unneeded. the cool down reduction is nice but you don't really need it. armor penetration is also fun but you get more from a The Black Cleaver and 2 hits or a Last Whisper for the tanks. the attack damage and critical are just too little too late. another IE has more than either of those and is only about 1000gold more. later game, when you would get this, it should be easy to find the gold.
Banshee's Veil- ONLY GET THIS IF YOU ARE ONLY DYING TO MAGES!! it is in the top part because I have been seeing more and more mage heavy teams out there. it is ok but not the best items for you to get.
The Black Cleaver-This item has some debate to it. it gives you nice damage and armor pen. but it gives you less armor pen for the tanks than last whisper. if you get this item look at getting a Madred's Bloodrazor too.
Madred's Bloodrazor- this is a very good item at killing health heavy champions and high health creeps like baron dragon or the buffs. it also gives you some armor which can save you from death. it is a good item LATER GAME. do not get this before your Bloodthirster.
Eleisa's Miracle- this item is ok if you are getting picked on. it gives you some hp regeneration and mana regeneration but that is not why you would pick this. the tenacity is a huge help when facing with someone like Garan, Jax or Sion. anyone with lots of crowd control.
Doran's Blade-I dont feel like the 10 damage and 3% life steal is a good buy for a starting item. the health is nice but will not make all that much difrence mid game where as when the teams are trading spells without engaging you can still heal that health back. remember that tristana is not always with a sopport champion so by going stright for the philosopher's stone you get a little more stability for your health regen than the life steal. 3% of ~70 damage is less than three health per attack abut 2 health and with one attack per second you get more with just the regrowth pendant. upgrading it to a philosopher's stone allows for that extra gold. Yeah it costs some but you will get your gold back just from the stone.
after that it helps you get the later game surviveabily as you are only making gold. by getting it first you can get that time down to about 30 mins in game which is about mid game for most games, at least in the games i play it is late-mid to early-late game.
ANY AP ITEMS- NO! it will do less for you than getting anything listed above.
Passive: Draw A Bead; this increases your attack range per level. it makes tristana tristana
Q: Rapid Fire
Increases Tristana's attack speed by 30 / 45 / 60 / 75 / 90% for 7 seconds. use this to get towers champions or large creep waves.
Tristana fires at the ground to propel herself to target location, dealing 70 / 115 / 160 / 205 / 250 (+80% of ability power) magic damage and slowing surrounding units by 60% for 2.5 seconds when she lands. On a champion kill or assist, Rocket Jump's cool down resets. this is Tristana's escape skill. you bounce over walls and the like and get away or chase the other champion, BUT REMEMBER YOU ARE SLOW!! Watch for ganks.
(Passive): Enemies explode when slain by Tristana's attacks, dealing 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 (+25% of ability power) magic damage to nearby enemies.
(Active): Explosive Shot rends the target enemy, reducing healing and health regeneration by 50% and dealing 110 / 140 / 170 / 200 / 230 (+100% of ability power) magic damage per second for 5 seconds.
Your main harass skill. use it to farm creeps and champions.
Tristana fires a massive cannonball at an enemy unit. This deals 300 / 400 / 500 (+150% of ability power) magic damage and knocks surrounding units back 600 / 800 / 1000 distance.
this is good for keeping that pest Akali from your face, but it is also a BRILLIANT finisher.500 magic damage meaning squishy heroes from about 300hp is an instant kill.
(NOTE you can use this skill when you are in the air from rocket jump it will knock back from where you cast it not where you land)
I do not play in ranked games so I do not know how this will do in ranked.
THIS BUILD IS MORE GEARED TOWARDS GETTING FAST TOWERS THAN GETTING FIRST BLOOD BUT IT IS STILL ABLE TO HOLD IT'S OWN IN TEAM FIGHTS.
