1.Introduction&Lore
Welcome,I'm NeshkeBGD,and I proudly present this Wukong guide!
If you wanna join in a game or two,you can find me on those two accounts:
-NeshkeBGD;
-United Duo(name does not mean everything,I play solo).
Remember,I play on EU Nordic&East server.
Let's talk about Wukong for a bit. Wukong is a melee fighter. He can harass enemy very efficiently without being injured. He is a monkey that can reposition himself and head straight back into the battle in no-time.He is mostly used for solo top lane because of all his damage evasion. His best advantage is to have bush somewhere near.He is easy to master and easy to play.
We will hear something about Wukong's lore:
During the chaos of the Rune Wars, an enormous runestone was lost deep within the Plague Jungles. It remained there, untouched for centuries, emanating a potent magic which infused nearby wildlife with sentience and vitality. A group of monkeys who were particularly empowered by it came to worship the stone, and their leader - a wise sage - became convinced that he could harness its power to make the monkeys immortal. He performed an elaborate ritual, but things didn't go as he expected. The runestone was destroyed, and instead of granting immortality, it produced Kong, a monkey who carried in his heart the strength and power it had contained. Kong was driven by an unquenchable desire for greatness. He sought out every beast and monster the Plague Jungles could offer, eager to find a worthy opponent, but none offered the challenge he craved. He asked the sage for advice, and learned about a legend of hairless monkeys to the north who, with wits and might, had bent the world to their will.
Wukong left, journeying north, determined to discover if the legend was true. He crossed the Southern Wastes and then the Great Barrier. On his way, he happened upon Master Yi, who was deep in meditation. Kong asked him who the strongest warrior in the north was, and Yi told him about the League of Legends. The tale intoxicated Kong, a place where he could battle the strongest fighters in the world was, to him, paradise. Kong asked Yi to introduce him to this League, and to teach him the ways of humans, so that he could be a fitting champion. In return, he would honor Yi by using Yi's Wuju style to become the greatest warrior Runeterra had ever seen. Admiring his passion, Yi agreed, but under the condition that Kong would one day teach the lessons of Wuju to a pupil of his own. In the spirit of this agreement, he renamed Kong Wukong, and gave him a weapon suited to his unusual nature - an enchanted staff that the young Doran had crafted. The weapon was an unrivalled masterpiece. Guided by Yi, Wukong joined the League of Legends to prove himself as the best, and to show the world the true power of Wuju.
"Only in combat do you learn who you truly are."
Wukong
Well, this may look like a short guide, but it isn't so better get reading.
Pros:
+Very smart monkey!
+Has insane burst damage.
+Armor penetration within his ability.
+Can trick ultimates such as Caitlyn's Ace in the Hole and Ashe's Enchanted Crystal Arrow with Warrior Trickster.
+Nice passive in team fights.
+Knock up-speed up ultimate.
+Can always use S juke(<3).
+Increase AS when using E.
Cons:
-Most people are greedy when using ultimate,so they don't save it for multiple enemies(I said most, not all).
-Pretty poor until he gets ulti or Sheen.
-Most dudes build PD on him and such AD carry items(I hate that).
-Uses a stick to fight,lol?
-Monkey outside the jungle,huh WTF?
OLD MASTERIES
- Summoner's Wrath -This is a mastery that will add a few extra features to Ghost and Ignite.
- Brute Force -This is a mastery that will provide with a bit on attack damage, and is a mastery without you can't continue.
- Alacrity -This mastery provides you with more attack speed.
- Demolitionist -This will give you a bit more advantage for destroying turrets.
- Weapon Expertise -This gives you 10% armor penetration.Well,I wanted to say, that if you think it is better, you can leave offense masteries at this point and you can start building more Defense masteries.
- Havoc -Will increase your total damage dealt by 1.5%
- Vampirism -Will increase your life steal rate by 3%,so you have 6% life steal if starting with Doran's Blade(that is a bit more than a half of Vampiric Scepter).
- Sunder -Now we have even more armor penetration.
We will now show our Defense masteries:
- Resistance -This will give 2 bonus points in magic resist.
- Hardiness -This will give 6 bonus points in armor.
- Durability -This will give us bonus 6 health per level.
- Vigor -This increases out health regeneration rate by 3.
- Veteran's Scars -Will give us 30 health at the start of the game.
Now,with all the explanation,we can now proceed to see how do masteries look all together in one place:
Not used masteries:
Deadliness and Lethality -I don't like to get those because I think of it as a waste of points for a fighter such as Wukong
Executioner -I would've get this one,but they won't let me...They won't ohh...The points!
Used Masteries:
- Summoner's Wrath -We use this to make our summoner spells more powerful.
- Brute Force -We use this to proceed to next level of masteries, this may not be as hell as useful but,it's still helping a little bit.
- Alacrity -This is not the best stat to use on Wukong, but it is still better than AP lol.
- Demolitionist -Fast push top lane, fast push top lane, fast push top lane!
- Weapon Expertise -This is definitely one thing that is too useful on Wukong, because he is the armor penetration dude,he needs it a lot.Let me explain. Weapon Expertise + Crushing Blow+ Last Whisper=10%+30%+40%=80% armor penetration, that's crazy, isn't it?
- Havoc -This is also one mastery without we cannot proceed. It could be useful on Wukong due to all the penetration we have.
- Vampirism -This is quite useful when playing Wu.Armor penetration+life steal=more health restored.
- Sunder -Oh,yes,I forgot to mention this when counting all the armor penetration.
- Resistance -Always good to have magic resistance on any solo top champion.
- Hardiness -Always good to have armor on any solo top champion.
- Durability -Now,we need this in order to get to Veteran's Scars so,we must level this up to 4 points.
- Vigor -Because you are 1 vs 1,(as in some cases,it's 1 vs 2) you need to survive.HP regeneration is always good.
- Veteran's Scars -This is our last Defense mastery. It is quite useful to have 30 HP more on the beginning. It could save your life a few times.
As a normal dude,I will set masteries once again here after explanation why is it useful or not useful on Wukong.
NEW MASTERIES
Wukong's passive is Stone Skin:
Wukong's armor and magic resistance are increased by 4/6/8 for each nearby enemy champion.
Let's say that Wukong will get bonus armor and magic resist for every enemy champion within his sight range(not sure but I thinks so).Note that THIS WILL NOT BENEFIT Wukong IF ENEMY IS INVISIBLE.
Wukong's Q is Crushing Blow:
Wukong's next attack, within 5 seconds, will deal 30 / 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 (+1.1 per attack damage) physical damage and will reduce the enemy's armor by 30% for 3 seconds.
So,let's say that this is an ability that will deal bonus damage and reduce enemy's armor by 30%.Note that ARMOR PENETRATION DOES NOT INCREASE WITH LEVELING UP.THIS ABILITY WILL RESET YOUR AUTO-ATTACK TIMES SO YOU CAN GET THAT ˝FREE˝ ATTACK.
Wukong's W is Warrior Trickster:
Wukong becomes stealthed for 1.5 seconds and leaves an uncontrollable decoy that doesn't attack or move on the place he activated it. The decoy will deal 70 / 115 / 160 / 205 / 250 (+60% of ability power) magic damage to nearby enemies after 1.5 seconds.
Ok,this is the ability that makes Wukong so versatile. This ability will create one immobile clone of you,and during that time, Wukong is invisible.Note that DURATION OF STEALTH WILL NOT INCREASE WITH LEVELING UP.ALSO HAVE IN MIND THAT THIS CAN TRICK ULTIMATES SUCH AS Enchanted Crystal Arrow AND Ace in the Hole AND MANY OTHER SKILL-SHOT-NUKES.ALSO REMEMBER THAT WHEN YOU USE Warrior Trickster,YOU WILL ALWAYS APEAR BEHIND IT.
Wukong's E is Nimbus Strike:
Wukong dashes on a cloud toward a target enemy and sends out images to attack up to 2 additional enemies near his target, dealing 60 / 105 / 150 / 195 / 240 (+0.8 per bonus attack damage) physical damage to each enemy struck. He also gains a 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50% attack speed bonus for 4 seconds after using this skill.
So,we'll say this is on-target dash that will also damage two enemies near. Wukong has increased attack speed for a few seconds after finishing the dash.
Wukong's R(ultimate) is Cyclone:
Wukong's staff grows outward and he spins it around for up to 4 seconds, dealing 20 / 110 / 200 (+1.2 per attack damage) damage every second and knocking up enemies once per cast. Wukong gains an additional 5% movement speed bonus every half second for the duration of the spell, with the bonus disappearing once he stops spinning. Wukong cannot attack or use other abilities while Cyclone is on, but he can deactivate it at any time.
Finally, this is Wukong's ultimate. This ability can deal damage and knock-up enemies in the air.Note that KNOCK-UP CAN BE MADE ON EVERY CHAMPION ONLY ONCE PER CAST.DON'T FORGET THAT YOU SPEED UP BY USING IT,AND YOU CAN TURN IT OFF BY PRESSING R AGAIN,OR CLICKING ON THE ICON.
- greater mark of desolation-Will give me a bit of early armor penetration.
So,it's something like this: 1.66*9=14.94 armor penetration early game.
- Greater Seal of Armor-Will give me a bit of armor early game.
So,it's something like this: 1.41*9=12.69 armor early game.
- Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist-Will give me magic resistance during the game, but mostly late game.
So,it's something like this: (0.15*18)*9=2.7*9=24.3 magic resistance at level 18.
- Greater Quintessence of Health-Will give me some health at the beginning of the game.
So,it's something like this: 26*3=78 health at the beginning of the game(and if you combine amount of HP from runes and amount of HP from masteries,it's more than 100 HP at the beginning).
Runes
Good Choices
- Flash is a very good choice on Wukong, for quick escapes, instant cathcing up etc.I prefer Ghost over Flash because I feel it is much smarter choice for Wukong but,it is still in your opinion.
- Although many would say it is stupid to get Heal,I don't think so,there is so many tricks you can make with this one, such as bait heal, last second help ally etc.
- I know this is a very viable choice to pick if you are heading solo top, because you can recall and go to lane if necessary.
Maybe
- Hmph, this is not my favorite to pick, but that is useful when you play ranked game, and you see that enemy team has a lot of CC,this is a great thing to have.
- Not the best thing either.Somebody maybe more likes Exhaust more than Ghost or Ignite.
Nooooooooo
-Ummmmm,no,that is your support's job!
-He does not need this.
Ok,I believe this is unique chapter name, and I guess nobody has it.I will explain all mz items and how do they work together.
Those are much needed boots due to tenacity and a small boost in magic resistance.
Well, this is one of main items Wukong must have.It works well with his E- Nimbus Strike because it triggers the effect of Sheen so when you come closer, your next attack will become as twice as powerful, together with Last Whisper you attacks will become even more powerful.
Ok,this is one useful thing to build on Wukong. It gives im HP,HP regeneration and even more HP with it's passive.
This is very useful to built on Wukong because it's cheap and it gives you damage and armor penetration.
Don't think on building Black Cleaver because it's more expensive and must stack up to be worth.
Alright, this is,if you ask me,a must have item on every fighter champion because it gives you armor and damage which stacks with HP.
Well, this is not everybody's favorite item, but I like it because it gives you damage and life steal and even more damage and life steal because of passive. This life steal is stacking very nice with Last Whisper.
Item Sequence
Well,I will tell just about boots choice.
Boots
Well, there is not too much to say.It is either Ninja Tabi or Mercury's Treads. But,if you think you will need it,grab Ionian Boots of Lucidity. Ninja Tabi will grant you armor and 10% AA damage reduction(turrets excluded). Mercury's Treads will give you magic resist and lowered duration of any negative buff on yourself. Ionian Boots of Lucidity will grant you CDR.
Start game
In this part of the chapter I count that you've got almost all the last hits.
I will feature a guide for novices.
/ +3x / / +5 .
You can use any of these choices,it is viable.
First return
Now you should already be able to get Sheen and Zeal.If you would feel more safer take a few potions with you. Also, you have multiple choices to build.
/ philosopher's stone
As I explained first build,I will also explain this novice build. You will get nice HP,HP and mana regeneration and the bonus in that you get 10 gold every 10 seconds which can be useful.
Also, you only need recipe for boots now,and you have GP10 so it will be easier.
Second return
Now,you should be able to get Trinity Force and Mercury's Treads. Also you can build something deferent.
/ or philosopher's stone
Now we have Avarice Blade for more critica and a bit of gold.At this point you also put in Hexdrinker or wriggle's lanter(I suggest Hexdrinker, but lantern is also good),also we upgraded our boots for increased tenacity andmobility.
Early-Mid game
Farming slowly, team fights are about to begin.
If you are doing descent you would have these items.
/ or
Now we have Shurelya's Battlesong which will help in chases and flights, also has nice passive. We also have The Brutalizer for CDR,armor penetration and damage.
Mid game
We continue progressing through the game, and you should have following items.
/
At this moment we have Randuin's Omen and Youmuu's Ghostblade(and should sell Wriggle's Lantern if we bought it earlier and buy Hexdrinker). Randuin's Omen helps a lot in solo and team fights. Youmuu's Ghostblade also helps anytime.
Late game
Game is coming to an end,you are winning(maybe not) and you have all the items you planed to buy.
/
We have all items we wanted to buy,we are very tanky and strong. We are speed oriented(I mean Frozen Mallet, Youmuu's Ghostblade, Shurelya's Battlesong,[icon=randuin's omen size=40] and [icon=mercury's treads size=40] are items that slow us down, but we're still very fast :D) and that's why we're invincible in team fights. We can chase and flee, depending on our situation. Maw of Malmortius will give us shield which will defend us from magic damage.
Well,I don't say that the second build I just said should be used, that is for novices, but if you like it,give it a try,it's not bad at all.You may think how I get more items in the second build and you think it is much more expensive,eh?No,second build is a way cheaper than the first one.And I prefer to use Hexdrinker over Wriggle's Lantern. Also, keep in mind that it is good to have both of them.
This is very useful item to build. It could be build from and .The stats it gives you simply are quite needed, and it wouldn't be bad to build this.
This is very useful item.It is like, let's say a bro item to wriggles. Both gives damage, wrigles gives armor and life steal and maw gives shield and magic resist. It is great to have them both.
This is also a great item, many would prefer to get it instead of Bloodthirster. It's really great because it gives damage,HP and 40% slow on hit.I think that Nimbus Strike and Crushing Blow procs slow from FM.
Well, this is a good choice because it gives you everything you need-damage,CDR,attack and movement speed, armor penetration and critical strike chance(strike chance is not so important).
If you ask me,this is great choice to get.Damage,HP regeneration, mana regeneration and a bit of splash damage.
This is quite interesting one.It could benefit you and it could not. This is not too reliable item.If you wanna get this item, you mustn't die. This is good item because on 20 stacks you get 820 HP and 15% less damage for only 1275 gold.
This is such a great item to build. It gives you much armor,a bit of HP,HP regen, nice active and passive.
This is a obvious item.Armor, magic resistance and revive.
Again a great item to build.Grants HUGE HP regeneration(40 HP regen+your current regen+1.75 max HP every second) and magic resistance and movement speed.
Great item overall, gives you mana, armor,CDR and great passive slow.
Well, this may look stupid, but it has a purpose. You will be able to endure opponents attacks and spells, and damaging them by standing next to them.Always follow them and you will see how much damage will you deal. You will have nice HP,nice armor, nice damage output, nice magic resistance, and nice HP regen. And on top of that, you have passive slow for both attack and movement speed+tenacity.
Well, this is one classic DPS kind. You will get the ˝bro items˝( Maw of Malmortius and Wriggle's Lantern). You will have descent amount of armor, magic resistance and pretty much HP.
philosopher's stone
Ok,now this is not quite my build. It is from my friend(LoLmAsTeR11).He told me this and I said I will put it on MobaFire,so now I'm doing just that.If you have time try all 5 of those builds(including this 3 and two of those builds I mentioned in ˝My item synergy˝ chapter).
