Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Hello, I am l3enjay on EU West servers, since I joined the game 2 years ago I have always enjoyed playing Warwick, he was my first main character, and i still continue to play him now, my build has obviously changed vastly over the years, from not knowing the game too well and only buying attack damage, to where it is now, a on-hit off-tank.
I mainly play Warwick as solo top, as I believe his lack of early hard CC stops him from being too usful a jungler, and much more helpful on top lane.
Pros / Cons
High Damage and Suvivability late game
High sustain on lane
Hard to counter-pick against
Will rarely lose the lane to anyone on top
He's a werewolf
Damage output is reliant on Hungering Strike early game, and his high mana cost with Warwicks low base mana
Extremely expensive build
I find him hard to last hit on
No AoE ability for farming
The only reasonable runes to run on Warwick in my opinion are Greater Mark of Magic Penetration this makes the % health damage from Hungering Strike near true damage early game, which is great for sustain
Personally, I spam Hungering Strike a lot on lane, and so, I run Greater Seal of Scaling Mana Regeneration as the mana regen helps alot with Warwicks small base mana. You could also run Greater Seal of Vitality if you are good with mana managment, however there is nothing worse than not being able to net a kill because you are lacking the mana for Hungering Strike
I run Greater Glyph of Magic Resist as 9/10 times you will be facing someone doing physical damage on top lane, and so will rush a sunfire cap, leaving your magic resist somewhat lacking, and so when the teamfight phase comes, you will have a little bit more survivability.
You have a choice of Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed or Greater Quintessence of Magic Penetration personally, I run the movement speed quintessences, as Warwick is a good chaser due to Blood Scent, these will further increase that movement speed buff, to allow you to tower dive with relative ease. The magic penetration quintessences would give you a little bit more magic penetration, and would allow your Hungering Strike to hit higher late game, however by then you will be using it more for the healing effect then damage, a your auto-attacks will be tearing enemies to shreds.
I go 9/21/0 as Warwick, this is because his Hungering Strike scales so well with cooldown reduction and magic penetration, that the useless 4 AP is worth taking for these stats.
However, if you were to run Greater Quintessence of Magic Penetration and Greater Seal of Vitality it may be reccomended to run 0/21/9, taking the mana and mana regen, to help you through early lane mana problems.
