It seems like this guide is badly in need of an update. Ivern was recently changed quite a bit, and you talk about some mastery in the Resolve tree called "Strength of the Ages." Call me a noob; I only started playing League early this year.

I only read the first few paragraphs since I don't want to embed knowledge that's outdated, but you seem like you knew what you were talking about. Rebuild it from the ground up, please. :)

Nice guide, it helped me a lot and I was able to "main" Ivern before even using it. I was unaware that you could Q the jungle mobs, that your W could adapt and spawn with more length when used in a specific terrain, etc.

It'd be great if you consider my points when developing the guide further more, so people are not scared away from this extremely useful champion;

From what I've played in my current tier (Diamond III), I can safely say that Ivern is an extremely strong champion in terms of utility in late game, and combined with both Rylai's Crystal Scepter & Locket of the Iron Solari, he can give massive shields later in the game. I was capable of nullifying most of a Veigar's min-45 damage from my ad carry which had a pure-damage build (reaching about 1110 AP)

Having a good communication with your team helps you a lot early in the game, as people will tend to counter-jungle by stealing your buffs because they suppose that you already did theirs, which ends almost always in an early first blood in favor of your team if your support wards properly.

His "Brushmaker" is also extremely useful when counter-ganking, so I would say that Ivern focuses mostly in map control in a defensive form (being Rek'Sai an example of an aggressive one) early in the game (counterganking, jungle control, ward control, etc) and in my opinion it is very important to get "Sweeping Lens" and "Boots of Mobility" as soon as you can (not before "Stalker's Blade" though). Being aware of the enemy jungler is essential and will help your team tremendously.

I have been playing Ivern nonstop since he was released :D U gave me a lot of new insight and confirmed a lot of my earlier thoughts. Keep it up mayne <3. There's just one thing I wanted to add to ur guide, if u deem it necessary to mention. Anyway I think it's handy to sometimes leave a Rift Scuttler prepared to be freed. It ofc gives a nice edge if u use it in a teamfight or anything else u can imagine :P

Not gonna lie this is definitely the most in depth guide for ivern out there currently. While this build is extremely good, it is important for new players to not follow this blindly. Eg: The builds are not bad, infact quite the opposite but depend more heavily on your team depending on their play style + yours. If they wimp out of a fight chances are you will take the brunt of the damage and if you cannot hold your own because you dont output enough damage then your easily taken out (only when ganking)mainly pre level 6. I have researched into the players both diamond who main this champ and people in diamond who play him in streaks of about 5-10. The players ive watched and looked into their games always pick Athene's Unholy Grail (if their going ap or utility both pick this as a core item)
For the next item i see obs jungle item get tank or ap depending on team comp and damage, and either trakers knife for vision or stalkers blade for catchup.
Boots always ionian boots of lucidity although i see why some might do better than others, again choose this based on team.
I probably just repeated what other people said haha (sorry) but if you want to check some of these players profiles out feel free.

Anyways, I had to upvote your guide because I was struggling with this guys, failing every game. I was sure I was playing him poorly. I was building the right items, just not in the right order.

My problem wasn't the build, but the gameplay. I kept trying to be a damage-dealing champion. I hadn't realized he's focused on a supporting role. First game after reading this: Got an S+.

P.S.2: The mastery section, where it says "It also pairs well with the Tier 4 mastery Perseverance" is linking Garen's passive and not the mastery.
