building him this way, you don't have much survivability. Being an initiator, I feel some survivability and some more defensive items are in order.

To answer the lot of questions, armor is not needed too much for him. I have played him enough to where I hardly die, survivability is not much of an issue. As for the DPS Tank, I have tried it, it works; however it is really boring to play.

Pureownage: Have you tried the build? If you find yourself dying too much, that means, yyou are just not good at staying alive. I'm a pro tank, and I am good at dodging 90% of all pro shots and AoE spells, its not hard. So I can see how you would have problems surviving if you just take the spells, learn to move. The build works, that's all you need to know, use it if you do not believe me, and furthermore, the Screen Shot was me ****ing around and testing a new build, learn the read and understand.

Im not suprised that your jarvan is squishy if the only def item you buy is latern(20 armor, wow). Thats worth nothing, you should buy more def items as for bruiser. And wtf, why are you attaching screenshot with completely diferent build?

edit (down): playing ranked, you wont dodge 90% pro shots..

I tried the build out a couple of times. While this build is not awful, it's not wonderful either. I have no problems with mana most of the time. To be fair, I didn't really much use a lot of this build. I used armor penn marks, clarity seals, magic resist glyphs, and armor penn quints.

I always get Dorans shield first, if not, I get the armor for my wriggles. The outright armor at first is really helpful, and the magic resist glyphs paired with beginning armor helps you survive easily against AP/AD early game. I take flag first then strike. Flag for more armor, attack speed, harass.

Aside from that, I built accordingly after ignoring the manamune. Givin' the right circumstances, Jarvan can yes, own with this build. I know it's meant for 3v3, but you should state that in your title. More survive is needed for 5v5, and you need to build against the other team.

One game I was focused by lots of AP. My build went as such. Merc treads, HEX DRINKER (this saved my *** so much early game. MR + 300 dmg shield. Allowed me to initiate perfect without worry.) Force of nature, and banshees. Even though I'm in the off tree, with off runes... I built tank for the situation.

Build is fine, but needs a lot of reworking, and rewording. Jarvan has a TON of attack speed JUST from his flag, so going attack speed is never needed until maybe late game with health steal.
I'd say with this build... Shield, wriggles, merc/beserker, Ghostblade, mallet, black cleaver.

Umm this build is good! Definitely on the offensive side, you need to make a defensive build too! I'm pretty sure it will work! :) probably since you got Manamune, you could get banshee veil for the mana, health, and magic resist! that would help your survivability in initiating to team fights better! :D Again, thats my idea in a defensive build, you can add other tanky items if you want, but other than that the build is good! :D

You seem way too squishy on such a rush-in based champion.

Why would you have crit damage gear for a champion not based on crits. I would say go tanky dps.

I haven't played Jarvan and I don't do many 3v3s, but I think Footyballs is right. The biggest thing I see in this build is NO survivability items. You get pretty good lifesteal, but that's it. I think you should consider that more.

The other thing is 25 points in offensive masteries. Why? I see you get 15% magic pen...but why on Earth would you want that on Jarvan? He has one ability that does magic damage, and it doesn't do a whole lot of it. You have no ap items to make that ability worth more. I'd take 4 of those points away and invest them into a different tree, probably defense. You're probably getting yourself a measly +5 damage on your flag toss because of that. Is it worth burning five mastery points?
