One of the most important things about Jarvan is, to get his "Q" and "E" then you can use it as a Combo to deal extremely heavy damage to your opponent. And you will get feared at the first part of the match.
GANG: While playing Jarvan you will get hunted at the top lane by your enemies.
Soon you will frustrated and then "Owned" for a short time.
But if wanna destroy this magnificent opportunity for the enemy you have to start with a few Sight wards. Then you aren't supressed of thhe enemy's gang and you can call your team for a teamfight...
