Jax Build Guide by
Not Updated For Current Season
I am posting this build because I want some feedback. I have only been playing League of Legends for about 3 months and Jax is my favorite and best character so far, so I would like to here some more experienced opinions and suggestions about my build. But before you tell me how certain things are just better than others please give me a chance to explain some things.
I use health regeneration instead of total health because I think it gives me more sustain in lane because it allows me to put 3 points in Resistance and Hardiness instead of only 2 in each. I also already plan to get early game health items such as Doran's Blade and Heart of Gold.
I like armor penetration with bruisers because I do not plan on getting something like Last Whisper. For Jax, I thought flat magic resist would be better than per level because it gives early magic resist before level 6 where his ultimate will be giving most of the resistance along with Mercury Treads and Maw of Malmortius.
I start by getting Doran's Blade for some early game sustain and some damage (also makes it easier to last hit). Then I usually use this order: boots, Heart of Gold, Sheen, Mercury Treads, Hextech Gunblade, Trinity Force. Sometimes I switch Trinity Force and Hextech Gunblade though. If the enemy AP is doing well then I consider getting The Hexdrinker before Trinity Force, or possibly after Bilgewater Cutlass. Then finish Maw of Malmortius and Randuin's Omen. I am a huge fan of Randuin's Omen, but I understand that Banshee's Veil is also very good for Jax. With Randuin's Omen I like that I can get Heart of Gold early and have it not go to waste, and with my build I think it would be too magic resist heavy so the armor balances it out. Not to mention with Hextech Gunblade and Randuin's Omen, Jax has a targeted and AoE slow. Doran's Blade can also be switched at the end for an item of your choice, possibly Banshee's Veil or Guardian's Angel.
