This is the build I am usually playing with when I'm playing Jax.
It's my first build but I tihnk, it's okay.

Item-Purchases
1)First of all I buy "Boots of Speed". This item is good for getting after or getting away from enemies in earlygame. Also I buy 2 HP-Potions and a Mana-Potion. (Those are important in the earlygame)

2)When I have enough money I build "Ninja Tabi" from "Boots of Speed". "Ninja Tabi" highers the Armor and Dodge-Rate, which is important for "Counter-Strike"(which is only available for some seconds after a dodge).

3)After buying "Ninja Tabi" I buy "Blasting Wand" and "Pickaxe" for building "Guinsoo's Rageblade" which gives Ability Power and Attack Damage and stacks Attack Speed.
It's good in combination with the Passive-Skill of Jax's Ultimate.

4)Next I build "Zeal" from "Dagger" and "Brawler's Gloves". It gives more Movement Speed, Critical Strike Chance and Attack Speed. Then I build "Phage" from "Longsword" and "Ruby Crystal". It gives more Health and Damage. And you have a 30% chance to slow an enemie on hit. After that I build "Sheen" from "Amplifying Tome" and "Sapphire Crystal". It gives more Ability Power and Mana. Also when you use a skill your next attack deals 100% more damage. From all those items I build "Trinity Force". It unites all the properties from the items which it is build from and improves some.

5)Then I build "Zeal" again from "Dagger" and "Brawler's Gloves". After thaat I buy "Dagger" and "Cloak of Agility" for building "Phantom Dancer". With it I hit critical more often and have higher Attack Speed. Also I move faster.

6)Next I buy "Vampiric Scepter" and "B.F. Sword" for building "The Bloodthirster". With this item I deal more damage and I get some Lifesteal.

7)Then I buy the "Pickaxe" and another "Vampiric Scepter" for building "Bilgewater Cutlass". After "Bilgewater Cutlass" I buy an "Amplifying Tome" and a "Hextech Revolver" for building "Hextech Gunblade". It gives more Attack-Damage, more Ability-Power, more Lifesteal and more Spellvamp. Also the Unique-Active is useful.

Summoner Spells
Exhaust: With "Exhaust" you can slow down enemies, running from you.
It's also great in an 1 vs 1 against an "Auto-Hit Champion" like Master Yi for example because of the blinding effect. If you use it on the enemie, his normal attacks can't hit anymore.

Ghost: "Ghost" is great for running after or running from enemies. If "Exhaust" ist on Cooldown and you won't get an enemie champion, running from you, you can use "Ghost" to get him/her. Also when you are low-HP and have to run from fast enemies, you can turn it on for getting faster and getting away.

Masteries
With my Masteries I focus on Damage.

Offense (22):
"Archmage's Sawy" increases my Ability-Power by 10,8 on level 18. (Increases the damage of my Magic-Damage-Dealing skills)

"Cripple" increases the duration of "Exhaust" by 0,5 seconds and decreases the target's Armor and Magic Resistance by 10. (Good because the target takes more damage then)

"Sorcery" reduces my skill's cooldowns by 3%. (I can use my skills more often and they are ready quicker in battle)

"Alacrity" increases the champion's Attack Speed by 3%. (Useful in battle. Guess you know, why.)

"Archaic Knowledge" let's my Magical-Damage-Dealing Abilities penetrate 15% of the enemie's Magic-Resistance. (Useful for dealing more damage with the Passive skill of Jax's Ultimate and all of his active abilities)

"Sunder" let's your normal attacks penetrate 6% of the target's Armor. (Good for Jax because he often uses his basic attack)

"Brute Force" increases my Attack Damage by 3. (Good for Jax because he often uses his basic attack)

"Lethality" increases my Critical Strike Damage by 10%. (Good for Jax because in late-game he hits critical often [at least with my build])

"Havoc" increases my base damage and magic damage by 5%. (Good for Jax because he uses his basic attack and skills often [and in combination, too])

Utility (8):
"Haste" increases "Ghost"'s Movement Speed by another 8% and increases it's duration by 1,5 seconds. (Useful for getting much faster behind/away from enemies)

"Perseverence" increases my total HP- and Manaregeneration by 4%. (Good for every character)

"Awareness" increases the Experience points I gain by 5%. (Good for every character)

Skills
Skill Sequence:
First I add 1 skillpoint to every skill (1/2/3) and then I max out "Empower".
When "Empower" is maxed out, I randomly add points to "Leap Strike" and "Counterstrike".
I add a point to my ultimate "Relentless Assault" everytime, I can.

Usage:
I like to use "Empower" in combination with "Leap Strike" because it deals heavy damage.

In combat I use "Empower" and "Counterstrike" as often as I can.

I never activate my Ultimate because the Passive Effect isn't available when the Ultimate is on cooldown.

When I have to run from enemies and a friendly minion wave comes, I like to use "Leap Strike" on a minion to jump to it's position and increase the distance to the enemies.

Runes
My rune-build is designed for the late-game. In late-game I want to have high Ability-Power and Attack-Damage. This is best for Jax, how I think.
