Introduction To The Max

Really, there is as good as no champion that can take on a late game Jax (as long as the other team is being feeded like Dudley from Harry Potter and even then it gets even).
Now take note that this is a mere suggestion and not to be obeyed blindly. You have to think a little bit for yourself. Special conditions require special items. For example, you don't need to buy the Doran's Blades if you dominate early game. But only if you really dominate! Red-hot super slaying required for this one!

Runes, Chosen By The Wise

For marks, I prefer Greater Mark of Strength over Greater Mark of Desolation Greater Mark of Desolation and Greater Mark of Might because Greater Mark of Strength increases the damage of your as opposed to Greater Mark of Desolation . And even though Greater Mark of Might gives you overall higher damage bonus, it's the early game bonus you want. And in that case the Greater Mark of Strength is the pacific ocean whilst the Greater Mark of Might is but a puddle. A small puddle..
---
For seals, I take Greater Seal of Evasion because the +dodge gives you a nice advantage in early game. See the game as the crops on a farm. The more you nurture them, the more they will provide for you later on!
---
For Glyphs, I take Greater Glyph of Potency because it's the best option in my opinion. But I haven't really given it much thought and if there is a better option, I'd like to hear it!
---
And finally, I chose Greater Quintessence of Strength for the same reason I chose Greater Mark of Strength .
---
To summarize, pick flat runes. These provide you with an early game advantage that will later blossom into a radiant orchid of awesomeness.

Masteries A King Could Kill To Have

The masteries are a simple 21-9-0 with focus on damage. Again, this is just a recommendation and demonstration of how I build my Jax, to the max no less! Although I feel that the masteries are pretty much personal preference, there are some you'd be a fool NOT to take. Besides, you want to get Havoc and then there aren't many different ways to build your masteries. But if you still feel the need to pick other masteries than the ones suggested. here are some that you should really think twice before changing away.
Evasion + Nimbleness . Come on, do I really need to explain? +2% Dodge and a 10% speed burst when you dodge (not if but when you do).
---
Archaic Knowledge . This bad boy right here provides you with some nice Magic Penetration, prefect for - you know - magic.
---
Havoc . Ah, Havoc. How I love your 4% bonus damage. Sure it doesn't sound like much but it is perfect in combination with your +damage runes. Remember the crops!

Items That Makes Even Chuck Norris Tremble (Almost)

Now comes, what is to League of Legends what debates about religion v.s. atheism is to the real world. The controversy that is the item build.

This is the final look of the core build. It's solid and pretty much unconditional. The rest is up to the other champions on the field. If the opponents are AD heavy = Get armor and if they're AP heavy = Magic Resist, and so on. You probably know all that. You should. If not - you should really brush up on your knowledge on the subject.
I can't cover all the different outcomes of the game, thus not all the different building options either. And I'm not even going to try. Besides, few games even last that long. So no worries!
However! If you find yourself in that awkward seat where you don't know what to buy. Just go for a Bloodthirster and an Atma's Impaler . This combo gives you a good damage output and great survivability with the Atma's Impaler passive fusing together with your passive Equipment Mastery and the giant life steal you get from the Blodthirster.
That's what you should do. What you shouldn't do however, is to build attack speed. Because with Guinsoo's Rageblade, you'll already be hittin' the sweet 2.1 h/s (h/s being hits per second. Just wanted to clarify that) after a few hits.
---
Okey, this is how to build your Jax, all the way to the max.
Start with Boots Of Speed and 3 Health Potions . Even though a Doran's Blade provides damage (I know, I know. The crops), you remain slow. And in this case, the survivability and move speed you get from your Health Potions and Boots Of Speed, is better at this time and trumps all that the Doran's Blade has to offer.
Then comes the unavoidable time when you have to recall (or if you should, by God, die). This is the time to get your sweet, sweet Doran's Blades. Yes, plural.
You want to get at least 2 blades (If you can't afford 2 at once, you of course buy the next one(s) the next time you head back (or die.. Please don't die). Because of the fact that these blades gives you both health, damage and life steal, they are very good for early game (Yes! Back to the crops).
You can get 3 if things aren't going great, and you could settle for one if it is. ( I know I said that you could skip them entirely. But that was in case of epic pwmage and red-hot super slaying. But still, at least one is recommended for that extra early game survivability. If you have some extra money, you should buy some pots to. But I didn't need to tell you that.. Did I?
Next, you want to pick up a Vampiric Scepter and head on for a Bilgewater Cutlass and then you just turn that bad boy into a Hextech Gunblade and fear will ensue.
Next up. Guinsoo's Rageblade about now. To be honest, I used to hate this item. For some reason I thought of this as useless and went on building other items instead but I've since swallowed my pride, and I'm willing to admit that it's almost vital. It gives both damage and ability power and it has a great passive that is great with Jax because it gives you all the attack speed you need so that you can focus on your damage and ability power.
Even though most games tend to end about here, if they don't, you'll want to get your hands on a Rylai's Crystal Scepter for some Hit Points and that wonderful slowing passive.
The rest is explained at the top. It's really up to the other champions and other conditions in the game. But a Bloodthirster and Atma's is good friends in your time of need.
To sum it up here:
3x And then, if nothing special is needed

Skill Sequences So Awesome, They'll Blow Your Mind

For skills, I like to max first, because it is simply awesome. It allows for some serious harassment when combined with Empower in early game (Don't harass at Level 1. Better to wait for Empower, otherwise it's just a waste of mana. And it could get you killed. But more on that later). Taking one point in Empower at level 2 I then max Counter Strike because it is more beneficial to you than any further points in Empower. And then I max Empower. Taking when I can, of course. You'd wanna do the same. Trust me. It's great.

The Summoner Spells God Gave To Noah

I usually go for these two:

This is the one thing I feel is entirely up to personal preference. I take them because of the harassability that Exhaust provides, and the way Ignite can get you those close calls where the opponent otherwise would get away with just a trace of hit points.
But as I said. Personal preference is the key here.
