Zed has a skillshot poke (which is rather accurate due to his shadow's mimicry), while you have an auto-target (Q) poke. This gives you a fairly decent advantage in the lane. You can usually tell if he's about to go in because he'll start up with his shadow's mimicry and then teleport over to his shadow before he ults you. You have a window of about a second to exhaust him before the entire animation is finished, unless they have EXTREMELY fast reflexes.

Ehaust can also be used if you're going all-in and don't want to be destroyed, or if your opponent has decent movement speed to get back to safety. Almost every time I go in, I first Exhaust them so they can't out-burst me first (for example LeBlanc or Talon). I almost always beat them in the lane because of that amazing spell.

And now kassadin has returned with is low cooldown ult and mana cost to be the highest mobility champion in the game. Rito pls bring is silence back too.

And so in Patch 5.4 Kassadin died his cause of death was a complete gutting due to bronzie's banning him because they couldn't beat him.

Look at Akali and Fizz they're destroyed with 5.2 they will never be picked in the LCS again because they are no longer winnable just like present day Syndra riot is nerfing this game into the ground just like runescape and minecraft :(

Tear start was left out as it was something I foudn to be obsolete compared to Catalyst however i'll add in the start, although personally in that case I prefer Sapphire 2 pots as you only really would want to rush tear into a non harrass lane the 5 pots shouldn't be needed and fairie charm doesn't give anything even remotely worthwhile.

Exhaust has the issue of timing correctly against zed, leblanc ( I mean really you'd have to be a god to be able to exhaust THAT quickly before anything hits you )

Heal same problem you're a mid laner ignite is taken on every assassin

I would like to make a suggestion with this guide

"Barrier: Leblanc, Fizz, Zed, high burst champions that counter you and have a high chance of going all in on you pre 6, barrier is perfect for this, it won't help you kill them but it'll stop them from killing you untill you can outscale them."

Take Exhaust instead if that is the case some mid laners i.e Yasuo, Karthus take this so they 100% can't lose an all in barrier is worthless late game on Kassadin where as if you dive an AD carry you can use it on him and he can't fightback. Heal will be a good choice also.

Also if you're going Tear rush on Kass I would like to suggest that you start.

Farie charm 5X HP pots 1x Mana Pot plus a ward this will keep you safe this is recommended vs junglers like Lee, Xin Zhao and Pantheon also it means when you recall you can also buy the tear plus a doran's ring it is really good on Kass I make it a point to buy one because It is so damn efficient.
