introduction

hello i have recently started jungling akali and when i looked for a build for her i could not find one that i liked. i didn't know why because to me she is a great jungler who can pop out of nowhere, kill someone, and then get out very easy. so i'm posting this to try to help people out who want to try jungling with akali. enjoy :)

abilities

akali's passive is twin disciplines,in which upon obtaining 19.5 ability power, Akali's hits deal 10% bonus magic damage, increasing by 1% for every 5 ability power gained thereafter. and upon obtaining 9.5 attack damage, Akali gains 10% Spell Vamp, increasing by an additional 1% for every 5 attack damage gained thereafter.

akali's first ability is mark of the assassin, where akali spins her kama at a target enemy to deal magic damage and mark the target for 6 seconds. akali's melee attacks against a marked target will trigger and consume the mark to cause additional damage and restore energy.

akali's second ability is twilight shroud, where akali throws down a cover of smoke. While inside the area akali gains armor and magic resist and becomes stealthed. Attacking or using abilities will briefly reveal her. Enemies inside the smoke have their movement speed reduced.

akali's third ability is crescent slash, where akali flourishes her kamas, hitting nearby units for 30 / 55 / 80 / 105 / 130 physical damage (+30% of ability power) + 60% Attack Damage.

akali's ultimate is shadow dance, where akali moves through shadows to quickly strike her target, dealing 100 / 175 / 250 (+50% of ability power) magic damage. akali stores an Essence of Shadow on kills and assists as well as every 25 / 20 / 15 seconds up to 3 total.

pros/cons

she has a fairly fast time to lvl 4
with your ulti ganks are INCREDIBLY easy
she can shred a carry in no time

cons:
rather squishy
requires some skill and practice to dominate with
counter jungles hurt her a lot

runes

these are fairly basic jungling runes, with the exception of the glyphs.

greater mark of desolationarmor penetration marks for hitting minions harder.
dodge seals are a MUST for this build. without them it will be a large waste of her masteries.
ability power glyphs so her moves hit just a little bit harder in the minions. you can replace these with attack speed runes if you want to but the lifesteal with increased abilities due to her passive help me more in the jungle.
and finally health quints so that you can survive longer in the jungle

masteries

this mastery page gives a well rounded akali that can deal damage as well as take damage. akali is not a tank, so you can't just sit there and be a sponge, but no one should be able to one hit you. the speed boost from the dodge is probably the most important part of the mastery page because it really allows you to zoom around in team fights.

items

the doran's blade is a great starter item for akali because not only does it give you +100 health it also has life steal and the 10 attack damage needed to proc her passive. i prefer this over a vampiric scepter or a long sword health potion combo due to the fact that since akali is a tier 3 jungler, she needs all the life she can get to b successful and survive counter jungles or gank quickly.

these health potions are MANDATORY if you want to be able to a. clear the jungle, and b. gank without recalling. they keep you alive while killing blue buff and red buff and allow your health to stay up enough that you can gank without popping that blue pill.

boots of swiftness give akali that edge that she needs to be able not only get into team fights quickly but they also allow you to escape, in combo with your wonderful bubble.

the slow from rylai's crystal scepter makes it almost impossible for anyone to get away from you. the health gives her more survivability and the ability power not only activates the second part of her passive but also makes akali's moves hit VERY hard, especially if you can purchase this quickly.

the hextech gunblade is the item for any hybrid champion. it gives lifesteal, spell vamp, attack damage, ability power, AND a slow. it makes you unstoppable in a 1v1 fight.

the guinsoo's rageblade is a great combo item for akali. the ability power boost makes her combo hit harder the longer you are attacking an enemy. and the attack speed makes her lifesteal more and more as the fight progresses.

the lich bane's passive makes akali's combo hit ridiculously hard usually killing anyone who is squishy. you probably wont make it this far into the game if your team is competent, but it gives you the extra push to win if you are still battling it out.

I've honestly never made it this far into a game so i was unsure at what to make the last item. but the abyssal scepter seems like a great item to b a finisher if they have built up magic resist to you. it can eaisily be replace with a defensive item earlier in the game is someone on the enemy team is getting really fed and you want to counter them. i suggest a thornmail for an AD champion or a banshee's veil for an AP champion.

jungling

the route you want to take is this:
1. wolf camp
2. wraiths (smite big one first)
3. double golems
4. base (buy the health potions now)
5. blue buff
6. wolfs again.

you should be level 4 after this and can do some ganking or jungle some more. it is risky to try for red buff now unless you have smite and are very high health.

here is a link to the route, pay attention to what he does at double golems. you will need to do this. all credit goes to stonewall for this. :)

how to fight 1v1

if you are ever covering a lane for someone or get put in a 1v1 situation, here is what you want to do: throw your q on them, wait for the cooldown on it, and when it's back up you ult to them and consume the mark. you then pop them with another q and use your e if you are close enough. use your ult when nessesary to stay close to them so you can continue consuming marks and attacking. once you finish your linch bane this combo will kill any squishy character on their team very fast.

team fighting

YOU ARE AN ANTI CARRY. your job in a team fight is to dive on the carry or main damage dealer on their team and destroy them. the move sequence is q, r, autoattack, e, , r auto attack. if they survive it they must have a giant amount of magic resist. make sure you use your bubble to escape after they are dead because the enemy team WILL focus you after you do that.

akali never initiates. let your tanks do that, its their job.
