Pros / Cons

can gank as early as level 2

Very easy to be counter jungled
You need to rely on teamates early/mid game
squishy and weak against ranged champions early on
requires blue buff early on to be able to farm/gank a lot

Runes

For runes i go with
Magic pen marks
Flat armor seals
Magic resist per level glyphs
and movement speed quints
pretty much any rune combination you want to use will work as long as you keep the flat armor seals

good alternatives are
Armor or magic resist marks
You NEED the flat armor seals to clear with a good amount of health left
for glyphs you can go with cooldown reduction or ability power per level

For quints the only other ones i would use are Gold/10 , Flat health, Or Ability power

Masteries

For masteries i go with 0-21-9 so i can be beefy all throughout the game along with taking the increased mana/movespeed/buff duration in utiliy

you can use pretty much any mastery set up you want.. but for amumu i would suggest you stick with 0-21-9

Items

what items you start with will depend on your team.
If you know you will get a good leash then pick up a regrowth pendant and 1 health pot, if you are solo queing i would suggest picking up cloth armor and 5 health pots

Depending on how you are doing on your first trip back you want to aim for philosopher stone and boots of speed

After that you get yourself a heart of gold and then get your sunfire cap as fast as you can it will be your main source of farming/damage mid game

picking up Frozen heart after that for the Cdr/mana it gives on top of one of the best auras in the game
IF the team is magic heavy.. pick up a negatron cloak before finishing the heart of gold then make force of nature and a banshees veil sell off your heart of gold once you can afford the banshees veil, then upgrade the philo stone

Summoner Spells

for summoner spells..
1. Smite... YOU NEED THIS NEVER JUNGLE AMUMU WITHOUT SMITE :)
2. Ghost.. i pick ghost because it is my favorite summoner spell at the moment, it provides no unit colission on top of even more speed to help you gank with


Flash is the only alternative in my honest opinion but if you want to take exhaust or heal be my guest

Creeping / Jungling

For your jungle route.. go over to blue golem wait for it to spawn, turn on your w and kill it smiting it when it gets low.
At level 2 you take your e moving to the wolf camp same thing as before w and e when you can to kill the wolves..
repeat at the wraiths, mini golems, Red buff
Taking q at level 3 if you want to gank or a 2nd point in e if not taking q at level 4
