Hello, summoners this is Trantra here writing my first guide on Mobafire. However, this guide is not as in-depth as those made by the more well-known writers on this site. Therefore, in this guide, I will make an attempt to share my important stockpiled knowledge playing with Amumu

Amumu is not the easiest champion in the league, nor is he the hardest. He focuses around the timing and positioning for the highest level of effiency. Using his ultimate Curse of the Sad Mummy can turn the tides of a bad teamfight into a possibility of a good teamfight, if used correctly. Furthermore, it will take a while for you to become experienced in throwing his Bandage Toss in order to be accurate with it. Regardless, Amumu is an incredibly outstanding champion that fits into wide variety of team compositions.

  • Greater Quintessence of Armor: These combined with the seals will make you an Unstoppable Force
  • Greater Mark of Magic Penetration: These specific types of marks are useful for dealing magic higher damage throughout the game, beglecting some magic resist of champs. 8.5 magic penetration is very useful when combined with Cursed touch
  • Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist: Many of you might ask, Why MR runes if jungle creep don't do magic damage? It is because most tanks are suppost to be TANKS! and need the magic resist for the APC's. The reason why per level runes is because more team-fights would occur in the later game, assuming you have made it that far.
  • Greater Seal of Armor: This is the most important rune for jungling with Amumu. If you do not possess these marks there is a chance you will die in the jungle.

Ganking / Jungling

At the beginning of a jungle Amumu game I would suggest that you would start off with a Regrowth Pendantand a Health Potion. The reason that I would start off the game with a Regrowth Pendant rather than the standard Cloth Armor and 5 Health Potion is because not only you are having a high health regen per second count, which allows you to jungle on a decent amount of hp, but you get a headstart in buying your Philosophers Stone which gives you a boost in mana regeneration per second and also it gives the Gold Per 10 seconds.

The way I would like to jungle with Amumu. Is that I start at the Wolves with some help from the top lane and middle lane ( If you are in blue team, In the Red team it you would get help from the middle lane and the bottom lane.) After you are done with your Wolves, the timecount would be close to 1:55 which is when the Blue Golem Buff spawns. After getting a decent leash from the Blue Golem Buff depending on the lanes I would execute an early gank, if not I would head over to the Wraiths camp, then head to the Big and Small Golems. After that is done you should start ganking or get the Red Lizard Buff. (You do not have to follow this jungle route bit by bit, feel free to experiment with different camps, or even counter jungling.

When I specifically gank I would look at the matchups your team is up against. If the enemy's teams health is still high, I would ask the laner to get into a few trades until I am certain that we will eliminate the opposing champion.

Amumu is a tanky initiator with a STRONG CC. His ultimate is one of the main reasons he is a reliable pick. Before a teamfight, you would want to look for an opportunity to initiate, whether a particular enemy is out of position, an important ability to the enemy team is on cooldown, or you would need to stop them from taking an objective such as baron or dragon, or the enemy team has a stronger poke than you.

Summary

Ultimately, Amumu is a great champion that brings a lot to the table in terms of crowd control and damage. By using just Curse of the Sad Mummy, he has the potential to stun the enemy team with correct positioning. Know ahead that Amumu is not an ap carry, and you will not end with a high amount of kills. Rather, it's Amumus job to ensure the people who can get the kills have an easier time.
