Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Hi! I'm RAAADAM on NA. I had a huge affinity for Renekton while I was getting accustomed to this game in Season 3. And to be honest, I tried in vain many times to make Jungle Renekton work..but due to his lack of sustainability in the jungle, early game strength and late game taper.. it just really wasn't quite worth it compared to other junglers.
However, Once I saw the jungle, mastery, and item changes in this most recent PreSeason 4 update...I knew that I could make it a thing.
"JUNGLE RENEKTON, IT'S A THING!"
This is VERY similar to the old Season 3 standard for Top Lane Renekton (Much thanks to SoloRenektonOnly for his guide and all I learned from his videos)
The slight exception is I have had success replacing 2 of his attack damage quints with lifesteal quints, to make the early jungling phase a bit smoother, while also adding some scary additional life steal for late game fights and survivability.
These changes to masteries is where I first noticed I might be able to actually hash out this plan.
At first, I experimented with 9/21/0.. thinking the cooldown reduction and jungle damage/sustain abilities would be the most beneficial.. after a few attempts, I realised that with my desired renekton build, Mid game, WITHOUT blue buff I was sitting at 35% cooldown reduction, and once I had finished my Spirit Visage I was and would be over the cap until I replaced my Spirit of the Elder Lizard with the Hydra.. as I peered over at the new utility tree I noticed I could reap more benefit in both the ganking and sustain/clear department by increasing move speed and decreasing recall time, decreasing the cooldown of flash and smite ( for both clearing and escape after the all-mighty renekton dives), increasing the duration of potions/elixers, and that extra 1% lifesteal/spell vamp, starting you off at 5% beginning.
Surprisingly, the 1% spell vamp really adds up when applied to renekton's abilities.
The defense tree I feel for any renekton player should be slightly more obvious..
I avoided oppression thinking egocentrically that when I use MY CC... the target won't be able to strike back anyway.(you could argue the rest of the team's CC during a team fight could seriously help you as a frontliner... but I have yet to see this come to fruition)
and in place of Tenacious and Reinforced armor, I have noticed that the new Perseverance and second wind abilities seem ludicrously OP on a champ like renekton, an enraged Q with the increased life effect from spirit visage AND from the mastery can completely turn around a fight. The Clutchness of those moves is utterly invaluable for making plays.
THIS ISN'T FINISHED
This is my first guide. I'm lazy, I've never done this before, and I have no idea how to imbed the proper images. I will learn slowly over time and update.
I really just wanted to post this quickly for the new preseason so it could be seen and maybe inspire a few people to try out some new things.
Thanks for reading, and play hard summoners!
