Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Going flat health runes, flat cooldown, flat magic resist, and flat attack damage runes ensure you have the right mix of durability while still able to deal considerable damage. The magic resist is viable when going against a magic based team or ganking a mid champion.
Having twenty-one points in offense gives your damage and ganking ability a large boost since you have your ferocity enhanced Bola Strike to root down your early ganks. While having the extra health from the nine points in defense increase your durability and survivability.
This build focuses mainly on damage output through critical strikes as well as some survivability during fights and ganks. Rushing the trinity force after you get your boots is a must as the health, critical chance, and sheen will drastically increase your damage output. While the Youmuu's Ghostblade will allow you to get the quick kills or catch up to your foe if he or she starts to run. It will also quicken your damage against turrets as a ferocity enhanced Savagery coupled with the Youmuu's Ghostblade active will demolish turrets. The critical damage increase from the Infinity Edge will ensure you can dish out devastating crits, along side the thiry percent critical strike chance, movement speed increase, and attack speed increase will allow you to eat up the oppositions health.
Grabbing Savagery for the jungle and leading into Bola strike will allow you to gank as early as level 2 at either bottom or middle lane. Maxing Savagery then Battle Roar will increase your damage and durability as a fully maxed Battle Roar will grant you 60 armor and magic resistance.
Taking Smite is a must for jungling while exhaust is used to slow and pin enemies down. On the alternative Flash can easily allow you to catch up or escape fights. As well as exit quickly after a risky tower dive.
Creeping / Jungling
Starting off at the Wraiths and moving on to Lizard's red buff and heading to either middle or bottom lane will ensure an easy gank. Make sure you have max ferocity when going gank. Use the ferocity enhanced Bola Strike to root enemies for an easy kill. Then move onto small golems and wolves. Make sure to gank only when you have maximum ferocity.
Pros / Cons
* Has a lot of ganking potential
* Can heal easily with a Ferocity Battle Roar even if he doesn't hit anything
* Separate cooldowns for the ferocity and regular skill allow for greater succession in skills.
* Has a long stealth and a somewhat true vision with ultimate.
* Fairly squishy in the beginning
* Can easily be countered by wards
Rengar is an exceptional jungle champion who has an amazing early gank. Building him Critical with some durability keeps his damage on par as it scales into mid and late game. Although he should focus squishy or low health targets his biggest strength is teamfights in the jungle as he can chase down or escape easily through the brush.
