do you think that rageblade is a good item to get on shen when snowballing?
since it doubles the titanic hydra and your empowered q something like this

Hi takeothebeast! Thank you for your comment. To answer your question, with this build, I don't think rageblade has a place. I don't think that the extra on hit is worth sacrificing a tanky item for it. However, if you went a more damage oriented build, I would definitely consider buying rageblade. But not for tank Shen.

So with the mastery changes that have been implemented, mainly the removal of strength of the ages, what masteries would you use now? Grasp of the undying seems like an obvious choice for the health scaling damage and healing that works well if you decide to go with a spirit visage, but courage of the colossus (the new one) seems like it would be a good safe choice that would give you a shield scaling with health whenever you land a taunt. Oppressor is also gone now, but battle trance seems like it would be good given that shen can survive the 5 seconds for the maximum damage bonus. And how do you feel about choosing the new fearless mastery rather than insight? (don't think siegemaster is good enough to get instead of tough skin so i'm not worried about that.)

Hi Autumstar00!
Thank you for the comment. I just update the masteries in the guide. For the keystone mastery, I would have to say that Courage of the Colossus is the best option. I'm not saying grasp isn't a good choice, but in terms of sheer efficiency, Colossus is the way to go. I also agree that Battle Trance and Fearless are the best options for their tier. Thanks again, and good luck!

When you're playing jungle shen, do you find yourself teamfighting often or splitpushing?

Hello blairwest43!
Thanks for the question! I often find myself doing a mixture of both through a game. When you think about it, Shen's main design was to be a split pusher. However, I usually resort to split pushing if my team is far ahead enough that we can spread out over the map safely, and have no problem winning a teamfight. If I find that the game is even, or we are losing, I tend to stick close to my teammates, unless it turned into a farm simulator and no fights are happening. So to answer your question, your role as Shen really depends on how the game has progressed. Hope this helps!

Nice guide. I used it as a template when I started exploring Shen jungle.

Runes:

I find that I can clear the jungle just fine and be ready to gank at level 3 when going full scaling Hit Point seals.

Masteries:

Agree with the 12 in Ferocity. They keep you healthy enough in the jungle to gank at level 3. I tried 12 in Cunning going with Wanderer to try and increase my foot speed around the map and I found myself burning through too much health at least with scaling Hit Point Seals. It might work with Armor Seals though.

If I've done the math correctly, Runic Armor outscales Veteran's Scars by level 4 with respect to the strength of Ki Barrier. Also with Hunter's Machete and Runic Armor you get 16% lifesteal from monsters which is up there as far as lifesteal goes.

I'm not a huge fan of Perseverance it only enhances your base health regeneration. It can be okay late game coupled with Warmog's Armor and Spirit Visage to get you back into a fight that you had to pull out of due soaking a huge chunk of damage, but since Shen is frequently called on to initiate ganks, picks, and team fights, I'd much rather have my Flash on a 15% lower cooldown. Having your Smite or Teleport (if laning) on a much lower cool down also comes in rather handy so I prefer Insight .

Legendary Guardian vs Swiftness - I am on the fence on this one. Both can be good for Shen as they both allow him to do his job better. Wish you could take both.

Jungle clear:

To flesh out your guide I'd suggest going more in-depth on how to micro the jungle. I find that if you plan ahead a little bit you can be bringing your spirit blade to you just as you are about to engage with a camp so you can minimize any lag.

Also if you are invading you are probably going to want Shadow Dash first which can significantly impact your clear speed and how much damage you are going to take so you are going to need more help from your laners than you would otherwise.

Oh and point out that you don't get bonus damage by pulling your blade through monsters (only champions). Damn, I was doing a lot of extra footwork for nothing. Oh well. XD

If you expand on the jungle clear section and put more detail in the ganking section, I'll be back to give an upvote.

Thanks alot for Your guide! Its awesome. Have some questions i would like to have Your opinions on.

I`ve been jusing your guide as a Shen jungler, and i think its absolutley one of the best base builds. Ive been thinking of specially one item. "Frozen mallet" as a alternative mid game. When f.eks top is a Thanky bruiser type. They often slip away if i havent had the chance to positionate my Q properly for the slow bonus. Frozen malet then have some Nice stats for Shen.

Also i choose to for flath Health seals, since i feel that he really dont need the extra amount of Health latter. But its more to help early game.

Hope you keep udtating Your build and answer questions here xD Again thaks for Your build!

As a Shen main i really like your guide and everything u say but one thing only!
What you say about Grasp of the Undying vs Strength of the Ages?
For a reason i cant feel playing without Grasp

i think its because this is a jungle guide and grasp has little to no use in the jungle

SO i was just looking at your guide like 5 minutes ago. How come you changed it from more damage to tank oriented?

This build is incredibly good, of course if you're slow with stacks on devourer, you'll be behind, but jungling should be Shen's second name. Also i used Titanic Hydra instead of Randuin.
I've achieved everything i wanted:

>1000 Burst (on squishies)- check
>400 DPS (also on squishies)- check
>100 Armor- check
>100 Magic Resist- Check
>3000 HP- check
Solo Baron- check

Also Devourer works with Shen's passive, making it's cooldown go down by 2 sec every second hit
(at least i think so, my attack speed was high, and cooldown goes down by itself so i can't say i am 100% sure,)

Nice guide - just one question about his Q I was led to believe that Q does not heal nor is influenced by spell vamp or other heal boosting items (not sure bout SPirit Visage though) it just increases regeneration by fixed amount for 3 sec. The problem is I'm still not clear how does it work fully. IMO there must be 2 possibilities - 1)it regens fixed amount of hp over 3 secs and can be triggered only twice per Q as it marks only for 5 secs what makes bonus HP more useful than AS bcs you can throw in some extra dmg and KI strikes but you will be getting less sustain - or 2) you get healed for a fixed amount of hp every time you strike what would make AS more beneficial though honestly I rly doubt that bcs the 3s then would make no sense unless it stacked yet again nothing about stacking in description.
