First off: Always mid. Despite his one AoE, Kassadin is all about single-target destruction. Kassadin's silence has a nice range, harassing cooldown, and not a skillshot, use it to harass the enemy mid, don't waste it on a minion. As a melee mid, Kassadin's silence will keep most champs our of spells reach of you while you melee-farm minions.

nd: Max Kassadin's Q first, as it hits for 1/5-2/5 most peoples life at level 9 (2/5th on most characters like Ez/Kennen/Annie).

rd: I encourage you to gank after level 6, Kassadin is a great gank as he can Rift Walk in > Null Sphere silence > Force Pulse > Rift Walk away (Or on top of the enemy again), make sure before you rift walk out that you ignite).

th: If you have enough mana mid-late game, you can chain Rift Walk repeated, each time you rift walk (within a certain amount of time) it will stack which increases the damage done by 90 (while costing 100 extra mana each time you do it). Max Nether Blade last, even though it gives more mana per melee-attack, its active only gives armor-penetration which is pretty useless imo.

th: What you get after Rylai's is up to you, i just put them in as fillers, most times the enemy team surrenders before I get past Rylai's (or even Zhonya's). If you feel so inclined you can definitely get Lich Bane right after Zhonya's, After you rift in and silence, melee attacking them will do another 200+ dmg > Force pulse + another 200+ dmg if you time them right. You know who's gonna survive all that? No one...well no one except Cho'gath but still.)

th: If you can't mid as Kassadin, I would pick someone else pre-game. If you're stubborn, stay in the bushes and harass A LOT. I'll update if I remember something but all I have to say is Kassadin is one of the most fun carries in the game, I'd say he nukes harder than Ryze, and survives much easier, if you play him right you shouldn't die but maybe 4 times max, if you don't, just keep trying: When I first tried Kassadin i was HORRIBLE and now I inspire fear! GLHF!
