Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
I started this build because of Nether blade and its ability to regenereate mana at fast paces, I mean, who wouldn't at least think of building attack speed on a champion that restores mana by hitting?
I sure thought of it. Which is where this build came from.
The amplifying tome is there to start your early game with a nice burst. Then i build straight into to berserker's greeves, so that i can have my movement and increased attack speed.
The malady is an obvious addition to this build, because it grants bonus attack speed and ability power, but also for the unique passive, reducing magic resist per hit with nether blade's active can trigger more damage by other abilities as well.
Then I get a sheen, what a better way to deal bonus magic damage than to do it with a sheen, later to be built into a Lich Bane for bonus movement speed, magic resist, and magic damage by using an ability.
Hextech revolver is for a bit of survivability, it alows you to stay in teamfights longer and do your job better as an assassin. Getting this earlier for laneability is another potential use for this. I build it into a hextech gunblade later so that I can use it to regenerate both health and mana per hit and also slightly increasing my attack damage.
Then, I get a Nashor's Tooth, so i can not only attack even faster and hit harder with my abilities, I can also use them more frequently, allowing me to help my team more in team fights.
I end with Rylai's Crystal Sceptar, because, in addition to building my health and ability power, it slows the enemy with my abilities, making it easier to keep up with them and kill them. Rabbadin's Deathcap is a reasonable substitute because it gives you more damage, or a haunting guise for magic penetration.
Pros / Cons
The Pros to the build are quite obvious, you can regenerate health and mana and stay longer without having to go back, outlasting the enemies
However, it can still be ganked easily early game, so keep that in mind until you have a hextech revolver at least.
As with any build, farming is important, with this build, you should be able to last shot minions with either your basic attack, or null-shpere. Another way to farm is to use your basic attack multiple times and using your null-sphere to harrass with your basic attack regenerating mana, so that you can continue harrassment until your laning opponent(s) have to go back because of low health or mana.If you're mid against a dps champ such as ashe or caitlyn, it is good to stay back and farm with your null-sphere, but against a mage, such as Karthus or Lux, use your basic attack constantly and silence the mage when null-sphere is ready.
Use of this build
Early game it is best to go mid against a mage, but if mid is attack damage, it is better to go in a lane against an ability power champion, solo top if you have a jungler or disconnect and a mage is in lane, especially if no one else wants it.
