Katarina is a high mobility AP assassin. When played right, she will annihilates teams. With precision timing and clicking you will be on your way to penta kills in no time at all.
This is very important and should be in the back of your mind at all times when using your ultimate most efficiently.
Katarina throws a dagger that will bounce from enemy to enemy, dealing magic damage. Each subsequent hit deals 10% less damage. The blade won't bounce to hit the same enemy more than once on the same cast. Enemies hit are marked for 4 seconds. Katarina's basic attacks or spells will consume the mark to deal additional magic damage.
sinister steal Katarina whirls daggers in a circle dealing magic damage. If she hits an enemy Champion, Katarina gains bonus Movement Speed for 1 second.
Katarina moves to her target's location, appearing behind it. If the target is an enemy, she deals magic damage to the target. After using Shunpo, Katarina gains 15% damage reduction for 1.5 seconds.
Katarina becomes a flurry of blades, throwing daggers at the closest 3 enemy Champions dealing magic damage over 2 seconds and applying Grievous Wounds to enemies hit, reducing their healing by 50% for 3 seconds.
When Leveling up these abilities, I usually start with Bouncing Blades, then I get 1 point in Shunpo to avoid ganks. Then usually get a point in Sinister Steal. Leveling up Q will give you more ranged harass, but W does more initial damage, and has the shortest cool down, if you can get close enough its the better ability. You can really go either way with this. Leveling up Q is really good because the mark, in turn, does more damage when destroyed, but that will have to be your decision.
21/9/0 is gonna be the best go.
going for all the AP damage and the 1 point in Armor Pen for more damage on your W and ULT. Then HP, MR and then 3 points in move speed.

You have to gank your allies lanes, you will never win games if you win your lane every game but your teammates lose their lanes, you have to be helping them, giving your power to assist them and make them stronger for late game if you want to win. ESPECIALLY in ranked games.
