Introduction

Katarina, the Sinister Blade is known as an Ability Power champion, but after the release of the December patch, Bouncing Blade and Death Lotus now scales with both Ability Power (AP) and Attack Damage (AD). However, more the latter. Katarina is a ferocious killing machine, as her kills and assists makes her Voracity (passive) reduce the cooldown for 15 seconds on her abilities. You may have experienced whilst playing Katarina that her ability to finish someone off is terribly easy, but sometimes when your Death Lotus is interrupted (as it can be), you have cooldowns on your abilities and you are really just an easy pick for most heroes (mages, auto-hitters).

This guide will focus on AD mainly due to several reasons:

It scales better with her abilities, Bouncing Blade and Death Lotus, than AP, however, Shunpo is mainly scaled with AP.
It gives her a chance to kill heroes after the use of her abilities, which in return, will reset her cooldowns for a new killing spree.
Better farming, more gold, better items, more kills (logic)
A way to deal serious damage consistenly versus the use of abilities which have a high CD.
More physical damage, will make turrets easier to down. (A job Lich Bane can do with an AP guide, but frankly, few guides suggests it, hence not making that a counter argument)

    To be continued.
