I've tried a few matches with Doran's Shield as a starter now, and I must say that you guys were righ.. it's actually a pretty nice starting item for Katarina! As long as you only take damage from auto-attacks tho, and don't take like 300 damage in one trade. :P

I don't know the exact numbers, but TiensiNoAkuma (high elo Katarina player) stated that Rylai's Crystal Scepter is worth less than the other items.
And if I'd replace it, it wouldn't be for Zhonya's Hourglass which is absolute core on Katarina.

Your build is the build I used with teemo when I start playing, I think your katarina will be better with a Rylai to slow enemies when you do your ultimate, instead of your Zhonya.

I have seen this same exact build so many times over and over again! the only difference is the starting items.. but im not you so do as you wish!

Of course, I've never played Katarina before, so I can't really make any criticisms on the build itself, haha. But perhaps add a "Matchups" section? I know for a fact that Katarina can be difficult early game (considering she's melee, therefore at a disadvantage for farm), so a matchup list might be helpful to first time players to judge how aggressively they should play. All in all though, it was really good. Good job and may fortune favor your guide! :D

I strongly prefer haunting guise and dorans shield start, but I have no real criticisms that haven't been stated above.

In a normal case you indeed won't have 2375 gold, but I put in the Needlessly Large Rod because it is the best item out of three options. If you have less money, you can go for a Seeker's Armguard or Fiendish Codex. Again, have you even read the guide?

• Please tell me why splitting it is worse than sticking with one. I don't see a good reason.
• A lot of people don't have many rune pages and you don't know what opponent you'll be facing. Up against a LeBlanc or Veigar? Armor is worth way less than 50 more health at lvl 6. And in the late game the health helps you even more.
• Again you don't give any reasons for your statement. Like I already explained, the Boots + 4 Health Potions gives more sustain and you can build your Boots into something, which you can't with your Doran's Shield
• That's true, but it's my first guide, so you can't expect it to have perfect coding yet
• This has actually nothing to do with the fact that you call my guide terrible.
• I already explained that sinister steel is way better for farming (did you even read the guide lol?)- because it has 4 second cooldown and an animation that is faster than Bouncing Blades'. I recommend you to watch Scarra playing Katarina sometimes.
• So the game revolves all around you, and not the team? It gives all your teammates an increase in damage and supposing you hit everyone with at least your Death Lotus, Bouncing Blades, Shunpo or sinister steel, it is actually worth more for the game overall in terms of damage than a 3% increase for yourself is.
• Because Double-Edged Sword is good on Katarina as you need to deal as much damage as possible. You can then choose to put the other 3 points into Sorcery, or you can put one of them into Butcher . As I said, it's a matter of preference.
• I'd ask you to play Katarina a few times and find out that she is in lane one of the hardest champions to good with. You also need to time your abilities very well. So yes, I believe she has a high skill-cap.

I appreciate it that you try to point out some mistakes, but please don't bring it like your points are facts just because you think they are.

• why do you split the glyphs into Flat MR and MR Per level, choose one and stick with it
• health per level seals suck, take armor
• Boots is a bad start as of season 4, always start with Doran's Shield now
• i see barely any coding
• you named your guide, the exact champion's name...really, it doesnt give any personality to the guide or what is different than any other Katarina guide
• you are definitely not going to have 2,375 gold on your first back to buy Sorcerer's Shoes and a Needlessly Large Rod
• you max sinister steel.
  have we not gotten past this, Bouncing Blades has 2 parts of the ability ¹Its activation which throws the blade ² the mark explosion which deals so much more than sinister steel and you can burst the mark with any thing, an auto attack, your Shunpo, and even sinister steel
• you don't need Expose Weakness , it's a waste of a mastery until teamfights actually start to happen, and even then it doesn't do much. And it helps your teammates NOT YOU!
• why don't you take 4 points into Sorcery?...???...??????...why????
• "Cons..."Hard to play" ... do you know what that purple bar is when you look at the champion stats in lol are? thats the skill level...do you know how long that bar is?...its at 50%...you know how easy a champion like that is to play?
