IMPORTANT! Change to manamune/archangel

Manamune and archangel are still good items. Don't get me wrong. But now that mana costs are reduced, they aren't REQUIRED as so much a good idea. If you don't think you'll need the mana, switch the tear for a chalice and continue with your build. At endgame, you can replace chalice with a number of items for mana, like Banshee's or frozen heart(defense), or Nashor's tooth or lich bane(if you want to go heavy AP)

Woo! New build is out!

The new Kayle has been totally changed from the old. I'm going to sort this 1 chapter into everything you need to know about new Kayle, and keep the old chapters in the other guide.

Summoner Spells, Runes, Masteries-

Summoner Spells

Remains about the same. I feel new Kayle is MORE damage and less support based(not actual more damage though), so you can substitute in many spells at this point. Exhaust is still a good one to take, though.


About the same. Since you WILL grab magic pen boots(stack up that reduction effect to all I can!) the best bet is armor pen. Get that for quints as well and you can get ability power blues and preferably HP yellows.


Since she is more damage, and the 21 is reworked, I feel 21-9 is a good deal. If you feel 5% experience will make you THAT much better, you can drop hp regen and some armor/mr. Get CD reduction Ability power armor pen damage and lethality in offense, along with exhaust buff, 15% penetration, and some attack speed.


This is what they changed. Her passive is why the guide needs to be revised-She can't go hybrid as well anymore. (still possible!)
To elaborate on the shred, It's basically the same as a reduction(works like abyssal and malady) which is why it works well with the build I'm changing to. Increase that shred and you end up at this build.

Her first skill reckoning is a LOT better now. AP ratio improved to 1, reduced mana cost, and more slow. This will be maxed along with righteous.

Sadly, the heal received no where near as much love. The mana cost is now considered high for what it does(60 mana for 50 health? What?), and the cool down is INCREASED. The heal AP ratio is nerfed, the base heal is nerfed, the buff duration is quartered, and the boost is only doubled. This is significantly worse, and is only gotten at level four because it can be useful SOMETIMES as a getaway/mini ghost.

Righteous fury is loved as well. The bonus damage is MASSIVE. It leapt from a level 5 max of 28 to a level 1 of 20! At level five, you get ranged and bonus of minimum 60! The ap ratio is slightly less(.2) but that means if you have say, 150 ability power, you get 30 more for 90 bonus where before you would only get to 73 bonus. Cool-down and cost were also reduced.

Ultimate stayed the same. Woo.


Heres the meat of the guide you want. Since they're listed at top, I'll explain the change.

Same old reason. Good item for lane staying and righteous off the bat.

Once again same reason. Manamune/Archangel is what makes this kayle a different deal than the other 95% of guides, and effective(at least I think)

Ahhh magic resist shred with AP Atk spd and 20 dmg! All cheap! This item is just kickass now. Seriously. 24 mr reduction added to your 10% reduction and 15% penetration is a lot of removed MR from the opponent.
100(start)100x.9=90(10% reduct)
90-24=66(flat reduct)
66-20=46(flat penetration)
46x.85=39.1(Math FTW!)
Final MR=39.
I believe Searz clarified the order of piercing of armor/magic resist. That 100 Mr just got wrecked. See why that patch wasn't all that bad? Yes you do.

20 penetration is good. See math above.

You didn't think the #1 hybrid item would go away did you? It's still great since it boosts 3 stats on kayle, AP, AD, ATK speed. The boost on AP becomes considerable with all 8 stacks when combined with the original 45. Up to a 93 boost! Attack speed is up to 32%, and damage is 35.

EVEN MORE REDUCTION RAWRRR ok anyway this is another pro item to slap resistance and armor in the face. 45 reduction? Yes sir may I have another. This with your MASSIVE rune penetration is a WHOPPING 76(masteries) armor reduction. HOLY COW THATS RIDICULOUS.

So at this point, a 100 armor and MR opponent(A mordekaiser) Gets to fight you with a mere 39 magic resist, and 24 armor. Good deal? I think so.

Finish that bad boy into a sword. Turn that 2k mana into 40 bonus damage!(Pushing and autoattacking with righteous)


If you turn the 2k mana into this badboy, you get 60 ability power!(12 bonus damage on righteous fury) Flat at 60 bonus to your reckoning and a preposterous(ly small) 27 HP bonus.

Take either. For the lulz. SotD and haunting guise are also optional=But haunting guise isn't recommended because of how low tier the item is. (Scepter is better!)

Gameplay was not covered in that huge chapter, but it's basically the same for Kayle, except you have to remember YOUR HEAL SUCKS BALLS. The only use is for fleeing or short chasing. Let's hope this is fixed next patch.

Now that you shred like no one's business, it's time to act like you're queen of the battlefield.

Early game
Riot claims her early is a lot better. ********. Kayle still can't take control of a lane against a decent laner- With the dead heal, I think Kayle has to give up solo lanes to others-the only exception is when no one else would do any good at all.

-The extra bonus damage on Righteous makes it a lot easier for Kayle to farm. I wouldn't rank her in the lowest tier of farmers, but she definitely isn't Mordekaiser. Use righteous whenever you can to farm or harass.-
Pro Tip: Using reckoning and immediately landing a hit or 2 of righteous can deal a LOT of damage. Use this to your advantage!

The middle game of Kayle is when she starts to take off as a champion, with the reductions and penetrations starting to stack up with her damage and speed. Your malady debuffs with your shoes and masteries lets you rip right through magic resistance, dealing some heavy damage to anybody.

End game
With your righteous farming, you should be farmed pretty effectively. Joining team fights lets you shred down carries and tanks alike, so you will have kills, especially with reckoning hitting so hard. The Black Cleaver should be finished-That way you have maximum shred.

Offensive subitems

These options are for when you feel you are getting pounded very hard and somehow your targets escape. They beef you up incredibly, and give extra damage and a slow. Depending on the situation, get Rylai's or mallet. You could become a very tough DPS if you managed to grab both in a very long fight. An extra 1200 HP would make you much harder to kill.(However your damage will suffer)

You will almost never need either of these unless you are unlucky enough to go against a team comprised of tanks only for example-Shen,Rammus,Leona,Malphite,Singed. That would be a terrible team, but you never know! So be prepared :O

Defensive subitems

Banshee's is what is used to stop those pesky mages and their CC. If you get bogged down by stuns and silences, grab a banshee's and make it all better. If mages swarm you, you can also get this, but the next item is a better choice in certain situations. Don't forget this also gives you mana, 375 of it! Very useful if you opt out of manamune for say, Chalice and want to replace the low tier item with a high tier!

Highly. Underrated. For 1800 you get 35 attack damage(thats 78% of a BF sword) and 30 magic resistance. As if it wasn't a good enough mage counter, you get a boss 300 magic damage shield every time your health is low every 60 seconds! Anti-Karthus item so you can save your pal and yourself, or just survive that pesky malefic visions or mordekaiser ult! This item is actually very good because it increases your dps at the same time! Don't knock it til you try it.
