Hi, My IGN Is ColorblindPlayer

Let me start off by saying this is my first guide on Mobafire. Also I am not a high elo player at all but I have been playing for a good time now to see what's good and not good. Sorry If I have grammar issues, I'm not the best writer. This Kennen Tank can be considered a troll build to some but I believe he is really viable. Please leave some constructive criticism so I can Improve the build. Thank you. (p.s a guy I met played this build and I fell in love with it so the whole idea isn't mine and I would like to give credit to IGN:Violentcupcake I would like to give credit to jhoijhoi for his template.

Greater Mark of Magic Penetration

Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed
  • Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed: Movement Speed Quints: These help you with almost anything, its as versatile as flash, it helps you to imitate , escape or just catch up to someone who just got away from your ult.

  • Greater Mark of Magic Penetration: Okay, this is great because at the beginning the base damage on all abilities aren't bad at all. I find myself dealing good damage with some of my skills just because of the magic pen. Sure you can go Armour runes but they aren't good since it leaves you at almost no damage :/

  • Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist:These are good for late game ap carries mid, gives you good magic resist.

  • Greater Seal of Defense: Okay now these I had to ask my friend why they were good and he said since you're solo top you will be leveling up faster and you will get more Armour, sure you can go flat Armour if that's your only option.

Pros and Cons


+ No Mana
+ Tons of Stun
+ People don't see it coming
+ very rewarding towards the end when you stun their whole team
+ Great mobility with Lightning Rush and movement speed quints
+ He's a flippin ninja ;)
+ Underestimated in 1v1 top lanes

- Not very durable early game
- Not as many stun pre- level 6
- Considered a troll build if team acts ducheyy
- Can't think of anymore ._.

We take 0-30-0 Mainly because You don't have good base defense and we would like to enhance that by taking full defense. Keep in mind that you still do pretty good damage with just armor. Also keep in mind you're a tank so it really doesn't matter only early game so you can stay in lane long.

Doran's Shield : Now the Doran Shield I believe is the best start. It gives you 10 Armor , 120 Health, and 8 Health regen. It just seems to work best because it gives you a little something of everything you need.

Reason why I believe its better than boots would be because you got your Lightning Rush and you can outrun ganks and not to mention Flash to secure the escape.

Now when it comes to boots you can either get

Ninja Tabi or Mercury's Treads

I tend to get Ninja Tabi's way more often then I do get Mercury Treads mainly because you find more AD bruisers up top. I can understand that you can get ganked and CC'd and it would be frustrating to run away if you tend to get cc'd but if your really want to get away you should ult to stun them.

Heart of Gold I think this items is really really good early game for the gold per 5. Plus the extra health

Keep in mind you don't have good resistance so far so don't get to cocky and try to rush at the enemies without your team.

Warmog's Armor I've always love this item, it literally just boots your health almost up too 3500 health. 920 Health, 30 Health Regen. and that passive ._. best item in-game but easily countered with a Madred's Bloodrazor ( if they do counter it please build Magic resist since the Madreds deals magic damage and Thornmail so you can hit back.

Sunfire Cape This items is great, not only does it boost your health more which I always find more fun. It gives you armor. Now the passive is great when you initate with ult and Lightning Rush.

Force of Nature Now this item boots the Magic Resist , Health Regen , and more movement speed and passive health regen 1.75% of your max health. Considering you have tons of health already you will be regenerating so much health!

Randuin's Omen This item is great because It's a finishing build from the early started Heart of Gold. More armor, More Health <--- :D and even more health regen omg!! hah It gives you passive cool down reduction and chance to slow down attack speed and movement speed of people that hit you by 21%. Now the active gets fun, when you use it (and don't forget to use it) Slows movement speed and attack speed according to armor and magic resist of the enemies.

Guardian Angel This item is great on any champion in my opinion because it gives you an extra chance to redeem yourself. But people fail to see the great benefits that it allows you to have which is the 68 armor and and 38 magic resist.

Skill Sequence

Okay this is just pretty easy.

Always max out Slicing Maelstrom First at 6,11,16

But when not available max out Thundering Shuriken

Then Electrical Surge and lastly Lightning Rush

Now in the beginning you kind of want to get an early Lightning Rush in case a level 2 gank occurs from wild Lee Sin or what not.

Summoner Spells

Okay now the Summoners spells I recommend are

Ignite no doubt about it, the thing is that you really don't do too much damage, now this Ignite will make up for that by doing some damage since it deals true damage it cuts through any health pots or health regen since it reduces healing effects.

Now Flash you can get Ghost instead if thats what you prefer but Flash catches them off guard as well and can avoid some spells if used correctly

I'm not sure about any other spells you can use, I guess you can just experiment with any other.

Early game you want to make sure you get those last hits but really there isn't much to it, you got energy to waste to use all your skills too farm. Make sure you farm up your Warmog asap.

These are the two most recent games that I had and i've had more but I just played two quick ones to show you what you can do with tanking Kennen.

Okay one thing I've learned from playing Tank kennen is that you let your team know that you will be ganking because the last think you want is a Alistar Jungler or someone really tanky and a support, you will only be relying on an Ad carry bot and Ap carry mid to carry the game which isn't enough to win the game unless they get really fed but still they won't be able to do much if they get really focused early game.That's all I can say. I haven't tried it in any actually Ranked games but It really is a good viable build. Please leave some good comments votes and whatever you feel like doing :D Sorry if this guide is a little dull it is my first though.
