Welcome to my first mobafire guide of Kennen: The Heart of the Tempest

But wait, Kennens Ap. Why make him hybrid?

Theres only one skill that stacks off of ad and thats your W .. so why do it? While Kennen is an ap champion, most of his skills are utility. This build gives you that ap power that a normal Kennen would show and while you wait to be able to put out those skills, your ad side will shine through and continue to melt down your opponent while healing you through the damage you may take and help you survive. Soon ill put a video on this guide showing the difference between an full ap Kennen and a hybrid built Kennen.

I use this setup because it gives you good early sustain and when built up Kennen will be able to walk through even the mightiest of tanks. The cloth armor and health pots are usually used in jungle and most would rather take boots but withLR you already have the speed and escape ability which ill talk about later. I take the Ionian boots because it gives you the cdr needed to be able to spam Kennens abilities quickly to pull off the damage and stuns needed to kill your enemy. Rather than taking trinity force which takes a while to build i take a Rage Blade and a Gun Blade because both give you a great damage output with life steal and spell vamp to keep you alive in team fights. The the madreds and zhonias are there to give you extra damage and utility to kill off foes and survive in a bad situation. Then finally the phantoms are an extra item to help put out crits and add extra movement and attack speed to add more marks and damage.

For Kennen to be hybrid he needs a 25 / 5 / 0 setup. Most people when they play kennen have a 9 / 21 / 0 page but you need the extra ap and ad that the offence column offers while still having a few points in defense.

These runes give you damage, magic pen and armor pen needed to be able to burst down tanks, supports, carrys, and most importantly, your lane opponent. It does all this while giving you the life and cooldown reduction to be able to survive the fights so you come out on top.

Summoner Spells

- I take flash on kennen because it will help pursue and escape when combined with LR and ill talk more about its uses in "Advanced Skills"

- Since kennen is squishy early game i take heal to help him in his solo lanes and team fights and when use right it can save lives. I will also talk more on this in "Advanced Skills"

I choose to max out ES first because its passive stacks on ad and will help you combo poke at a farther distance. Maxing TS out alongside ES helps you poke down your opponent so when they are low or your ready for a gank you will have enough MotS to stun your opponent and eventually get a kill. I max LR last because although its a good closing or escaping tool it doesn't have a grat damage output but does put out a MotS which helps you to stun more. Then obviously level up SM whenever possible because its your main form of burst damage.

Lay down hard poke damage with your Q and W. these both add MotS along with the W's passive.
Remember you can use the utility of your LR and also remember that although you cannot auto attack in LR you can use your other skills like your Q and W to close poke and run back. In a team fight situation you want to wait back for a good moment to enter without getting focused instantly. Initiate with LR hitting as many enemies as possible hen in mid LR use ES giving 2 marks to everyone. Then, After you lay your MotS use SM and put out big AoE dps and stuns. Once you've layed down enough damage for your team its time to make a decision to run or clean up with your ES or TS.

Advanced Skills

Before i start keep in mind that ES's passive adds a mark of the storm every 5th basic attack and will do magic damage equal to your attack damage.

"Poke Stun" - in the laneing phase auto attack minions and count the attacks or watch the buff icon on your screen and when the mark is ready auto attack and TS your target then press your ES to activate the stun. use this to start a gank or to escape.

"Flash Burst" - if you see your team in a bad situation and your closing in on them be ready and hidden behind a wall maybe in the jungle, flash in and immediately SM after you do LR and ES to stun so that your team may regroup and fight back or get away also drop a heal on the weakened ones so that they can continue to fight.

"Hide and Seek" - If you have a mark of the storm on an enemy and hes escaping watch your ES icon because if you get close enough to them it will light up and be able to use if the enemy is nearby like trydameres slow skill would do.

"Cant Touch This" - While entering a massive teamfight where AoE is every where, start your combo then when your ult goes off use your zhonias to go invulnerable and watch the damage fly.

Using these tricks and tips along with your own skill will help you be a team player while melting down the enemy team in dire situations.

Tips / Closing

Remember this is simply a guide and if you feel you need to use a different spell or item to take down the enemy team then do so but this build is what i find easier to use.

1) Poke, harass, poke more, and then if you get bored HARASS. This is what Kennen is built around. remember to keep up the pressure and chip at their health until you find the openings you need to get the job done.
2) You are FAR from being a tank. keep to the side back of the fight until you have your chance to open your combo and unleash doom.
3) Be careful around enemies with cc and silence because it can throw off your chains.
4) Dont think that Kennen wont help in a fight. If you have the health to fight do it. He is a very valuable team member and has the ability to change the tide of a game.

In closing, although Kennen is mainly an ap champion, this hybrid build will melt anyone who stands in his way if he is used correctly. Use your utilities wisely and fight when you can.
