(pre intro)

Okay, bear with me, this is my first guide, so I wont be as great at it as some other people. Just give me your feedback and let me know what I could do to improve.

Thanks,
Dusknight

Note: A few members have said things like "Don't max Void Spike, it sucks after the nerf" and things of the sort. Taste Their Fear is one of the highest scaling abilities in the game, and while Void Spike has okay scaling I have noticed that at level 9 you will do much more damage in your burst with a level 2 Taste Their Fear and a level 5 Void Spike than the other way around.

Introduction

Kha'Zix is a good champion because of his extremely high damage and mobility, even though he is fairly squishy. Most top laners cannot win trades with Kha'Zix if you are aggressive, (with the exception of Jax, who wins trades with pretty much everyone) and if you aren't winning trades you have a very potent heal in your W which some players underestimate.

Play Style

I have much more of an aggressive play style than most players, as you can see in my rune page. I like to go with Glyphs of Cooldown Reduction instead of Magic Resist which is somewhat risky, but pays off is you play your cards right. Always remember to harass as much as possible with your Void Spike, but in laning phase it is important to make sure to use it on the enemy champion or to use it to heal, as it has very high mana costs. In my personal experience Taste Their Fear has a slightly larger range then your autos, so when chasing the enemy Champion sometimes it is better to Q them than to get close enough to autoattack. Save your Leap for initiating if the enemy champion is being cautious, or for getting away if they are being aggressive. Your leap does not do very much damage in comparison with your other abilities, so don't use it to CS until late game. Void Assault can be overlooked sometimes, but the stealth is amazing for getting into the right position or avoiding ganks. Also remember each time you use it you get a stack of Unseen Threat, so remember to autoattack after each time you use your ult.

Runes

Always have the AD and Armor Penetration runes. These are the core for your runes. Greater Seals of Armor are good because most top laners are AD and this really helps sustain against them. You can get Greater Glyphs of Magic Resist if you don't like the CDR, but the cooldown reduction glyphs help me be much more aggressive in lane.

Masteries

I go 21/6/3 for my masteries because I find Meditation to be very helpful early game. The offensive masteries are essential for assassins, and the defensive masteries help you be a bit less squishy.

Items

Items with Kha'Zix don't vary greatly. The Brutalizer, Bloodthirster, and Tear of the Goddess are core. As for boots, Ionian Boots of Lucidity are the best, as the CDR allows you to use your full burst as much as possible. Mercury's Treads are a must have for high CC teams as the tenacity can mean the difference between life and death. Guardian Angel is a good last item on Kha'Zix because it gives him more armor and magic resist, as well as the amazing passive it boasts. Last Whisper is good for back dooring as well as a much easier time of killing the tank.

Skill Sequence

I always start Taste Their Fear. Don't as me why, I just do. Well on second thought, seeing as how this is a guide and all, I might as well explain that.

In extreme early game, before minions spawn (if I am not leashing) I like to rush into the bush and wait for the enemy champion to come in. I always buy my items quickly so I can get to lane as fast as possible, hopefully before my opponent. Early game your opponents will often face-check bushes, which will lead to a nasty surprise if you are in it. As soon as they walk into the bush, start with an AA then use Taste Their Fear as fast as possible, and the damage output from that will scare away most enemy champions, and sometimes I can even get another auto in while they are running. This leads to a strong advantage early game and can mean win/loss of the lane. Taste Their Fear has fairly high base damage, but the scaling is insane, so I usually only get my Q to level 1 and then max Void Spike after I get Leap to level 1. Void Spike is the core skill of your laning phase. Once you have a Tear of the Goddess at a high level, you can get almost free CS with it, and in the earlier stages of the game when it has higher mana costs, it is still an excellent poke as well as a slow. After you slow with Void Spike remember to [leap]] on them, land a quick autoattack (to proc Unseen Threat) then Taste Their Fear for maximum damage. Kha'Zix's passive is good, but only if you use it. Your Leap is essential for getting kills as well as not getting ganked. Void Assault is an incredible ability, it gives you time to get into position, time to get away, and even gives you a stack of Unseen Threat each time you use it. When you use Void Assault, you have one second of stealth. During this second you can use other abilities without being un-stealthed, so it is a very good move. Void Assault can be a good ability to get from one bush to the other without your enemy knowing, and it is perfect for going in for the kill. As soon as you are un-stealthed, be sure to autoattack to proc Unseen Threat, and try to do this between each time you ult. While stealthed, if you are far away BE SURE to Leap on your opponent - you always want to be on top of them. After you have unstealthed and autoattacked, rush in with a quick Taste Their Fear then Void Spike before you ult again. Be sure to autoattack once more for maximum effect and see if you can't get another Taste Their Fear off. The full combo of your abilities is enough to kill most champions, and scare away the others with an exception of a few extra tanky ones.

Spells

As for spells, I usually go Flash Ignite. One thing to remember about your Leap is that IT IS NOT A Flash. If you try to Leap out of something like The Box, it will still hit you, and likely give the enemy a chance to get back on top of you. I usually use Flash as a defensive move rather then offensive, as Leap is perfect for that. Ignite is also a good spell for crippling life regen champions like Swain or Fiddlesticks, as well as getting kills early. If you do not like Flash, Exhaust is another good skill to use as it almost guarantees killing an ADC, even if they are fed. Other than Flash, Ignite, and Exhaust, my summoner spells don't vary much.

Note: You can get Teleport if you feel it is a must have.

Ranked Play

During ranked play, it is essential to ward. Even though Kha'Zix can avoid ganks fairly easily, in ranked games players are much more experienced and can often counter your Leap+ Void Assault combo to still get the kill. Kha'Zix is a completely viably champion for ranked, as he is one of the best assassins in the game. Overextending isn't as much of an issue with Kha'Zix as it is with many other champions, as you can usually get away by simply using Void Assault then Leaping over a wall. However, it is still important to be careful, and if many of your enemies are missing in action, it is still not a good idea to overextend.

Farming

Killing creeps is very easy for Kha'Zix. Early game you should be able to kill creeps fine with an auto+ Taste Their Fear, and easily stay caught up. DO NOT try to CS with your Void Spike, as you will run out of mana extremely fast, and Void Spike is essential to have ready early game. It is okay to CS while healing with Void Spike if you are low, but focus on using Taste Their Fear early game as this will give you bonus CS as well as ranking up Tear of the Goddess. Mid/Late game it if fine to CS with a Void Spike+ Leap combo, as you can clear massive hordes with these abilities, and with your Tear of the Goddess half full they don't even take much mana.

Team Work

Okay, let's be honest here. Kha'Zix's teamfight stage isn't that great. Basically all you do in a teamfight is poke with Void Spike as much as possible, and after everyone else goes in, just Leap on the enemy ADC. During teamfight stage, if you see you are getting focused too hard or your health is going down fast, a Void Assault+ Leap combo or simply using Void Assault can get your enemies to stop focusing you for a brief moment, and after you comeback from stealth most teams wont refocus you. But remember to play it safe and NEVER go in first.

Unique Skills

Kha'Zix is an amazing champion because of his ability to actually EVOLVE throughout the game. Evolving is Kha'Zix's signature ability, and as long as you evolve the right abilities under the right conditions, Kha'Zix can be a menacing opponent. Remember that each time you rank up Void Assault you get one evolution point.

Note: You can get a fourth evolution point by killing Rengar while The Hunt is on is active. To activate it, Kha'Zix must have three evolution points spent, and Rengar must have a fully stacked Bonetooth Necklace

Summary

Overall, Kha'Zix is a great champion. Fun to play, high damage, and his [Leap]] even resets after a kill or assist when you evolve it (feeling jumpy?). He has less weaknesses and more strengths then most champions, and he looks awesome as ****.
