Introduction


GUIDE IS STILL IN PROGRESS

Hello to all of you fellow Kha'Zix players, this is my shot of trying to make a somewhat "casual" guide to Kha'Zix both as a laner and a jungler, the guide will be more towards the jungling part since that is where I think an assasin such as Kha'Zix shoud stay.

PS: This is also my first guide so any form of criticism is welcome!

Kha'Zix, what is he?

A vicious Void predator, Kha'Zix infiltrated Valoran to devour the land's most promising creatures. With each kill he absorbs his prey's strength, evolving to grow more powerful. Kha'Zix hungers most to conquer and consume Rengar, the one beast he considers his equal.

When Kha'Zix crossed over into this world, he was fragile and ravenous. The animals he first encountered were too small to fuel the rapid evolution he craved. Kha'Zix focused his hunger on the most dangerous creatures he could find, risking his life to satisfy his need. With each kill he feasted and changed, becoming a stronger, faster predator. Kha'Zix soon chased his prey with unrestrained aggression, believing he was unstoppable. One day, while savoring a fresh kill, the predator became the prey. From cover a creature pounced in a blur of fangs and steel, tackling him to the ground. It roared in his face slashing and clawing, and Kha'Zix felt his blood spill for the first time. Screeching in fury, he sliced at the brute's eye driving it back. They fought from sunset to sunrise. Finally, near death, they reluctantly separated. As his wounds closed, Kha'Zix burned with anticipation at the idea of devouring one who could match the Void's strength. He resumed his search for powerful prey with renewed vigor. Someday, Kha'Zix will feast on Rengar.

Summoner Spells




Flash: Jungle & Laning - Good for chasing people or escaping though situations, not obligatory for jungle or laning build but prefered.

Smite: Jungle - Ideal spell for jungling and needed when jungling as Kha'Zix because of his early game damage not being so high.

Ignite: Laning - Gives out some extra burst or can be used to finish off that one enemy that is trying to escape, the reduced healing received is also a great addition.


Ghost: Jungle & Laning - The extra speed boost can help chasing off enemies or again escaping them, a bit less effective than Flash if you ask me but still viable.

Teleport: Laning - Especially good summoner spell if you are solo top. Will help you get back to your lane much faster than other summoner spells.

Heal: Laning - Less favorable if you ask me, but can help greatly in a teamfight or when you are being ganked.

When laning I usually go for Boots followed by either 3 Health Potion's or 1 Health Potion and 1 sight ward.

Afterwards I start building for my Bloodthirster therefor I buy my Vampiric Scepter (this also works for greater time spent in the lane) and B. F. Sword. Before I finish my Bloodthirster I buy my second tier boots, the boots I buy can wary depending on the enemies I am facing but I usually go with Berserker's Greaves.

I finish my build with making my Maw of Malmortius, Trinity Force, Warmog's Armor and Last Whisper. The order I pick them in depends on how fed I am.

Jungling item sequnce:

When jungling I find it necessary to get Cloth Armor and 5 Health Potion's because compared to other junglers such as Warwick this champion is missing a lot of sustain.

After I have cleared my jungle (and hopefully gotten 1-2 ganks) I work on finishing the rest of the build in the order presented. Again the type of boots can wary but most of the time Berserker's Greaves does the job.

Skill explanation

Unseen Threat(passive)

When Kha'Zix is not visible to the enemy team, he gains Unseen Threat, causing his next basic attack against an enemy champion to deal 15 / 20 / 25 / 35 / 45 / 55 / 65 / 75 / 85 / 95 / 110 / 125 / 140 / 155 / 170 / 185 / 200 / 220 + (50% of ability power) bonus magic damage and slows by 35% for 2 seconds.

Unseen Threat lasts until consumed and has no cooldown.

Taste Their Fear

Passive: Marks isolated targets.
Active: Deals
70 / 100 / 130 / 160 / 190 (+1.6 per bonus attack damage) physical damage to a single target. Damage against isolated targets is significantly increased to 100 / 145 / 190 / 235 / 280 (+2.4 per bonus attack damage).
Evolving claws increases damage to isolated targets by 12% of their missing health. Kha'Zix also gains 50 increased range on both Taste Their Fear and his basic attacks.

Void Spike

Kha'Zix fires spikes that explode on contact, dealing 75 / 115 / 155 / 195 / 235 (+0.9 per bonus attack damage) physical damage to all nearby enemies. Kha'Zix is healed by 40 / 70 / 100 / 130 / 160 (+50% of ability power) if he is within the explosion radius.
Evolving spike racks causes Void Spike to fire three projectiles in a cone. Spikes will also apply Unseen Threat to all enemies caught within the area of effect.

Leap

Kha'Zix leaps to an area, dealing 65 / 100 / 135 / 170 / 205 (+0.8 per bonus attack damage) physical damage to enemies in the area he lands.
Evolving wings increases Leap's range dramatically and causes a kill or assists to refresh the cooldown of Leap.

Void Assault

Passive: Each rank of Void Assault allows Kha'Zix to evolve one of his active abilities, granting it an additional effect.
Active: Kha'Zix enters stealth for 1 second and gains Unseen Threat, gaining 40% movement speed. Kha'Zix can cast Void Assault again within 10 seconds after activation. There is a 2 second cooldown between each cast of Void Assault.
Evolving active camouflage allows Kha'Zix to cast Void Assault three times within 10 seconds and reduces any damage by 40% he takes while in stealth.

Skill Sequence - What to evolve and why


As Kha'Zix it's important to have at least one skill in each of you abilities thus making the optimal starter sequence Taste Their Fear, Void Spike and Leap.

And as always take up in your ultimate
Void Assault at levels 6, 11 and 16!

Laning skill sequence:

Taste Their Fear should be maxed out asap when you are laning, you will be needing the extra damage this ability grants when your jungler comes up for a gank or when you are going for a kill yourself.

Void Spike is the second priority as it goes up in level not only will the damage of it increase but also the healing you receive from it, thus making you stay in the lane longer.

Leap Isn't that great in laning which is why I max it out as the last abilitiy. The damage is already low on this ability and as a laner you will most of the time use it as an escape mechanism (rather than your ultimate Void Assault). It does become greater late game as you upgrade and evolve it and will benefit you more as you will be able to get some kills or escape some ganks easier.

As a jungler I focus on a more balanced sequence but still mainly focusing on Taste Their Fear and Void Spike.
You might ask why? It's simple:

Taste Their Fear for increased burst on jungle creeps and players, this ability is your main source of damage and if used right can shut off many enemies, even ranged champions. And once evolved will be a destructive execute with almost no cooldown.

Void Spike for greater sustain in the jungle (more selfheal) and as a finisher for escaping enemies, but that's not where this abilitiy shines, it's the evolved version of it which will apply a 2 second slow on everything it hits making low health escaping champions a really easy prey to hunt + the ability will fire in a cone with more projectiles making it really hard to dodge. Level 11+ ganks will become a lot easier!

Leap is a much better jungling ability than a laning ability because of the design, it practically works like a second flash and is much easier to use. Will make you travel trough the jungle easier, will make you surprise enemies by showing up from behind a wall when they thought they had already escaped.

Prefered evolution for assasin/jungle build (also works for laning)


Taste Their Fear is your first ability to evolve due to the increased damage it gives on isolated targets (helps on ganking) and increases the range of your attack which can help of killing running enemies.

Void Spike is your second ability to evolve. Once evolved jungle and lane clearing will become a joke and the extra slow you can apply on your enemies will definitely help you get the kills because of Unseen Threat applying from your Void Spike.

Leap is the last ability to be evolved. This will greatly increase the range of your leap and add a new passive to it. Once Leap is evolved it can be a great finishing move and can make some effective tower dive kills without you taking any form of tower damage.

I stay away from the evolved version of Void Assault simply because it doesn't benefit that greatly for ganking, is viable for a more heavy laner build and could be upgraded instead of Leap once you hit level 16.

The rumored 4th Evolution:


If you get a pentakill you get a 4th Evolution.
If enemy team has a Rengar and you are both level 16 and you manage to kill him you get a 4th evolution.*

*I got to personaly test out one part of this rumored 4th evolution. I was playing as Kha'Zix and enemy team had a Rengar. We both reached level 16 but nothing happened. I managed to kill the enemy teams Rengar but didn't receive a 4th evolution. But I won't say that this rumor is busted until I make some more tries on this!

Jungling routes and ganking

Kha'Zix isn't that hard to jungle but can be a bit tricky to start off with. If you wanna jungle with Kha'Zix I recommend getting a Cloth Armor and 5x Health Potion's to be able to survive your first clear.

I find the most ideal route as Kha'Zix to be as starting on Blue Buff and then moving onward to Wolves, Ghosts, Golems and finally Red Buff. Always keep an eye out for a ganking opportunity as this is your primary job as the jungler.

Always ask your team members to cover you for invades as they tend to happen.

When the timer hits 01:55 I ask for a leash on Blue Buff from our mid-laner and start off by killing the small adds, keep in mind that I by this point already have taken up on Taste Their Fear to be able to isolate burst down the last add.
If everything went as planned and nobody leeched on your experience you should be level 2 now and able to take up in Void Spike making it a bit easier to jungle, always stay near the targets when you use it to get that self heal.

Since you have blue buff you can pretty much spam your abilities to fasten up your jungle speed. Remember to use Health Potion when you find it necessary.

On my first route I usually stay in the jungle until I can afford my Madred's Razors and Boots this usually takes one jungle clear and one gank or 2 jungle clears (without the buffs being present).

There isn't really much more to say here, Kha'Zix jungles just like every other champion in the jungle, if you are experienced in that part of the game you shouldn't have a hard time adapting to Kha'Zix.

And as always, keep on owning the jungle and ganking the enemy team!
